  1. I don't entirely disagree with him as a general point of principle (who would?) - though personally I thought the errors revolved more around the selection of Bairstow as keeper and the reckless declaration. My point about him is he is not and never will be in a position to comment on Joe Root's batting. I believe they both batted at 3/4 and so are directly comparable. One is arguably England's greatest ever test batsman, the other was a flat track bully at county level but when it stepped up a notch into the test arena used to give his wicket away cheaply just when you needed him to fight for it.

  4. Mark Ramprakash was a decent enough cricketer but never someone you could rely on in a crisis and not the first name that springs to mind when I hear the word ‘winner’ tbh.
  5. He was a shagger, that’s for sure!
  6. I'm told Madonna has already been booked as a headline for 2024... The problem these days Gav is that all the better young bands and artists can't seem to sell any music.
  7. I agree with that to an extent, but what a back catalogue Elton has, its easy to forget just how many monsters he has written, (or to be more accurate, co-written). The joyous faces in the crowd told me everything I needed to know. Brilliant stuff. Edit: Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens was absolutely superb. His voice actually gets better with age.

  14. The AGM was a resounding success imho. Very slick and showed the professionalisation (for want of a better word) of the Trust Board. Tim Farron was an excellent special guest and there was some really good engagement with members throughout the event. There are some really exciting plans so my advice is to pay your tenner and get involved and be a part of this. Well done to everyone involved!

  19. It’s an odd one Gav. He’s a good appointment in the sense that he knows the club and the league and plays attacking football but my God he pissed the fan base off last time around with the manner of his departure. Class act he certainly isn’t. Edit. That doesn’t mean I approve of that abhorrent song you mention.

  23. Great photo. Sad to think that three of that side are already no longer with us. I was lucky enough to play alongside two of them on a regular basis as well. Happy days!
  24. Is she going to Springsteen with you? Some of his politics and views are questionable as well.
