  1. Wasn't Hasselbaink kicked out of the QPR job because he had links to a particular agent/agency as well as being pretty rubbish?
  2. Put a few pounds on a few names, but not the good ones. Woodgate, Grayson, Venus, Lennon and Hughton. Hughton was rubbish at Forest, but may do better at a new job. I'm in profit if any of them get the job, though I'd be delighted to lose the £10 on those bets.
  3. According to what you've been told Mercer, will there be a proper appointment, or a member of the coaching team as a caretaker?
  4. The only reason Jürgen Klopp is so successful at Liverpool is because he's very expressive and vocal during a match. Nothing to do with knowing how to coach, or being a great motivator.......Sorry but Dunn was a good player at Rovers, but that does not mean he should get a job because he was in the same youth team as a first team coach here. It's that kind of thinking that allowed Myles Anderson to get a contract, or sons of legendary players or managers to waltz into the youth teams of that particular club regardless of ability. Why not go the whole hog and have Tim Sherwood, with Henning Berg as assistant, Jeff Kenna and Brad Friedel as coaches?. Stuart Ripley can do the legal paperwork regarding any sale of Brockhall.
  5. Yeah, I agree. Slow internet, The Pink Newspaper with the football results and all that. Now, there's no sense of discovery and wonder when the whole world is plugged into the big computer. Things like the internet, camera phones and so on are taken for granted. There's so much information, disinformation, so many products vying for your attention that it's hard to appreciate events or time.
  6. I wouldn't want Dunn near the club. He strikes me as a bit thick in terms of football coaching, and has failed wherever he has been a coach. Those who think that he should have a job because he is a local guy who played here for a long time should get real and stop being sentimental.
  7. I have relatives in New Zealand, and friends from school, and where I grew up who are now about 40 like me. I used Facebook to keep in touch and see what they've been doing but I deleted my account a while ago. Instead of being a facility for that sort of thing, it was pumping out all sorts of nonsense about American politics, Jeremy Corbyn etc. with the associated comments about Trump being either the next Jesus, or Satan, everyone being a 'Communist' or stupid if you disagreed with some person's comment.........It can get to you sometimes and make you act like one of those goons on phone in shows. It was the blatant propaganda during the US election, with the clickbait articles, bad comedy and frankly arrogant muppets who were triggered by it that made me opt out. That, and the massive personal data rape that goes on. I've never been interesting or vain enough for your Instagram or Tik Tok. I believe the latter is Chinese owned, a country that has invested millions in facial recognition technology, and forces companies to share all their data with the government. If I'm right, that's a bit suspicious.......
  8. Phew, at least Pardew is unavailable if he has gone to some corrupt East European league. Mowbray simply has to go, but with Venky HQ apparently being in some part of India with no telephones, internet or whatever, it won't be a quick decision. I expect a new manager in about 2 weeks before next season starts.
  9. We had a chance of promotion, but a bonehead of a manager and players who are not interested have just about blown it. No clue, no heart, little skill or application. Mowbray out, and Venkys out.
  10. On Mark Robins, I think he could 'do a good job' here. He's used to crap/mad owners of clubs, can find decent younger players and bargains on a small budget. Would we get promoted? Possibly, but I'd pick him over Mowbray, Pulis or Bruce. Dyche would be a no brainer though. A record of producing miracles on a tiny budget. I wouldn't care that he just left that other team, as it would be a right laugh if he got us promoted and Burnley didn't.
  11. Yes to both leaving. Mowbray has been mediocre overall, and Waggott has been a pretty bad chairman who has brought no new ideas or impetus off the pitch. Mind you, with Venkys disappearing and not being in touch, and the agents still being influencial there's only a limited amount that can be done.
  12. First Rovers game I have been to in years, since I've lived in Coventry for ages. First half, we were toothless and easy to carve through on the counter attack. Brereton-Diaz and Dack made the difference in the second half, whilst Gallagher was absolute clown shoes. I really didn't like the cynical fouls and diving that we did, and the time wasting backfired, as we know. Final point, how the hell did that fat guy outrun the stewards? Even I could run faster than him.
  13. Would you expect that the theoretical £30m be spent well though?
  14. I also disagree with Wood 26. I feel that this summer could lead to another case of us selling our better players, or them leaving as they're out of contract and another cost cutting run. To just blindly assume JRC, Nyambe, Armstrong, Dack and Holtby will just stay here and have another season of playing for a badly set up team if or when teams with genuine promotion hopes, or a Premier League team is bordering on deluded. As for Venky's being brilliant, well for Mowbray they have been-him and his mates run the place now, and let him plod along after spunking millions. Obviously 10th in the championship is a great achievement for some, as good as 10th in the Premier League.
  15. We have good attacking players, but we haven't used them properly for months. Putting a big burly striker out on the wing is just one example of this. Tony will find a way of nullifying the threats you state.
  16. At best, a shoddy, lucky 1-1 draw. At worst, 3-0 loss. We are entirely dependent on Armstrong having one of those amazing games where he scores at least 2 goals.
  17. I spent most of my teenage years in North Bedfordshire in the 90s, and I only knew one Luton fan in school. They were all about the big London clubs, Spurs, Liverpool and Man Utd. It is probably even more so now. Here in Coventry, people seem to support a 'big' team, but kind of like Coventry City as a home/2nd team. It's the older generations who remember the FA cup win who are proper City fans.
  18. If we fancy a chance of promotion ASAP: Wagner, O'Neill (as in the Stoke manager), Hughes, Jokanovic, Billic, one of the 20 Italian or Spanish managers that managed Watford in the last 5 seasons. If we want to go down the 'budget route' and still have a shot soon: Robins, Cook, Cowley brothers, Pearson, Stendel, one of the other 20 Italian or Spanish managers that managed Watford in the last 5 seasons (I forget which ones were better than the others).
  19. Thing about journeys are that they have destinations. Where's the destination for Tony's journey?
  20. Those people are the reason Mars bars get smaller, and cost more all the time. That's the politest way I can put it. They think this is 'our level' and are happy being really mediocre.
  21. You're not wrong on that Mercer. With all the talk of concussion in various sports, Tony is nutting his glass ceiling like........well you can put your own non PC metaphor in to finish that.
  22. Blimey. I know they're a tombola but at some point they'll have gone through any feasible manager and hit your Owen Coyle/Phil Brown types. I'll have to look at the odds to see who the bookies favour.
  23. If I was a capable player: Hughes, Big Sam, Dalglish. As an inept person nearing 40 and with dodgy knees, no pace and as much football talent as Steven Hawking: Steve Kean (playing in Brunei, and not at Rovers) Owen Coyle. I'd never inflict my real self on the budget of Rovers.
  24. As someone who likes a red wine, but is a cheap date is that a fancy 'more than £7' wine? I'm the sort who'd rather go on a mission with your Aldi Toro Loco (which is actually pretty good) and save the expensive stuff for special occasions like Rovers or Coventry RFU getting into the top division. Oh, and if you like gin, Roku is really good. All this is away from the point that Mowbray should be thanked but binned as he lacks that extra 15% to get us promoted, but consumer information is important.
