  1. If we could find a Rahul Dravid and an Alistair Cook to go with our explosive players like Stokes, Butter, Barstow and so on, we'd be good. Archer having legs that work would help too.
  2. I may be wrong, but last time Preston won a trophy, Queen Victoria was still around, and people used horses and carriages as taxis.
  3. Farke, or Wagner would have been more of a known quantity and who I'd have liked but it's good to see we've thought outside the box and not brought in a Dobbin like Adkins, Monk, Pulis or Pardew. Now I said that, he'll be worse than Paul Ince was, and play Dolan as a target man, and so on.
  4. I am intrigued by the new set up if JDT comes in. It may work wonders, but probably not this coming season. I think we'll be rebuilding and letting players like Vale and Carter have a chance out of necessity. We must start sorting out transfers ASAP.
  5. Not only that Chaddy, a load of their customers had engine/hydraulic failures. This'll bite Leclerc in the arse later, with the engine limits. As someone who grew up watching Mansell and Hill at Williams, I hope they can afford to drop Latifi. He's been dreadful and will cost them in repairs over the course of the season. Bring in Piastri, or a young driver for the rest of the season, then forge some ties with Red Bull or VW when the Mercedes engine contract s up.
  6. Preston have been very up front and acquired some solid players. One day in the next 20 years we will be like that.
  7. Got my Rammstein ticket today. Only been waiting 2 years.
  8. Whilst not a more reliable appointment than Wagner or Farke there is part of me that would rather look to someone like JDT, or even Ferguson over a stale manager like Monk, Adkins, Pardew or Bruce. After all, who really knew about Farke, Wagner, or the guy at Huddersfield in this county?
  9. My general thoughts are simply "Just get on with it!". Appoint the head coach/manager, and organise some transfers. Hopefully it won't be a dog egg like Pardew, but just get it sorted.
  10. At this rate, we'll be contacting Dr. Frankenstein to bring back Brian Little, Ron Atkinson or Don Revie. There's been so many names but no evidence of action.
  11. This is no speculation or anything, but I just remembered Michael Laudrup exists. Last managed an Arab team in 2018, so out of work. I can imagine someone like that coming in if they have the right agent, or met Barry White and Akon in a Dubai bar.
  12. I think Root's conversion rate from 50s into 100s is pretty poor. He's a very good batsman, but Smith, Laubuschagne and Kholi are better.
  13. Putting aside my general dislike I have for the monarchy, I saw who was on that concert and was glad I missed. Sure, Slayer, Depeche Mode, or Laibach were not going to be there, but there was a lot of crap. The news was incredibly sycophantic and over the top but that's to be expected. The only bit I enjoyed was seeing Johnson get booed.
  14. About Ainsworth's playing style, I don't care if it does the job. I'd rather a manager can see what type of players they have and get them doing jobs they are able to do than make silly tactical choices because they want to emulate Pep Guardiola with players out of position and less skilled.
  15. True, and of course I hope it will be inspired if they do come. I'm naturally risk averse so I'd rather he starts elsewhere and then comes on board with more experience. I'd rather go for a manager like Farke, Wagner or Cavahall who have a track record in doing well at this level.
  16. That's the man, thanks. Well at least we won't be wasting £150m if it is him. And maybe he's better finding the lower league stars than big name players in the £20m or so bracket.
  17. Steve Walsh, sounds familiar in such a role but I don't remember which club(s) he worked at.
  18. I saw one of the papers is saying Duncan Ferguson and David Unsworth could be appointed. That would be stupid, utterly stupid. The risk is too high and says Venkys are going for the cheap, untested option yet again.
  19. Ainsworth could work out, or it'll be another few seasons of hanging around near the relegation zone.
  20. More proof that the county game and the ECB are not fit for purpose. And then we have that 100 nonsense, a format not used anywhere else in the world.
  21. If today's panic has any grounding, it shows how little ambition or intelligence there is at the club. No desire to better ourselves, no attempt to get the right people for the important jobs, and happy to save a few pennies but fork out £20m+ to keep a shit show going. There must be some serious money laundering or something like that going on. That's the only reason I can think of.
  22. Nah. I'm not a fan of going to the cinema, and was never into 80s Tom Cruise films. I do wonder if Maverick has accepted his homosexuality in the sequel though.
  23. I admire your natural optimism Chaddy, and I hope it does rain, but generally speaking I skip this race. We don't even have Mazepin to somehow screw things up this year and push a car into the barriers when being lapped.
  24. Can't stand Real Madrid, but also not too bothered about Liverpool winning.
  25. Leclerc should win barring another engine mishap or awful tyre change.
