Tony Mowbray Discussion
Norbert Rassragr replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Do we want a chance of promotion? Yes. Will Tony get us there? No. Therefore he must be thanked for fixing Coyle's mess and someone else with better coaches brought in. -

Letting debts mount up and never getting a chance of promotion doesn't work either. This was supposed to be the big push for the play offs, and we have a squad capable of that, and yet we're blowing it. Oh well, at least you're happy with mediocrity and false dawns. -

We were closely linked with/run by an agent-Jerome Anderson. I'm not exactly happy with trying such an experiment again thank you, even if the agent is more honest. Agents are essentially parasites looking for big pay offs and taking money out of the game. Look at Pogba, Haarland, and the move that lead to the death of Sala. -

What's that Serbian guy who got Fulham promoted, and was Watford manager for a month up to? That's another possible name to throw in. -

I'd wet myself with excitement if Allegri or Poch came in. This season is a must win, with a lot of players out of contract, or probably ripe for a move (like Armstrong or Dack). It could get messy in the summer, and a new squad might be needed. Tony is not the right man to get us up. -

Hughes, Pearson, the Cowley brothers, Viera, Flores and Silva are all out of a job and Billic is soon to be. All are worth at least a look. Then there are other candidates actually in jobs. -
Brentford (A) - Saturday 5.12.20

Good result considering the red card and injury in defence. Who'd be in with Ayala for the next game? Can we call back Magaloire, or is Williams available? -
Two I think. I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure he had one full season, then came back.

Rovers v Millwall. Wed 2nd Dec 7.45pm

Problem is that it will be his '1st half' when he comes on. Still it would be worth it if he comes on and smacks the winner from 30 meters out like has a couple of times. -
All in all, it's great to have a sense of confidence and security that the goalkeeper can do his job. I've not felt this good since.........maybe Robinson when he first signed, or Friedel.

I always thought he deserved a chance at this level after seeing him at Coventry, and knowing how much my one time season ticket holding friend rated him. To be top scorer in the division for a few seasons whilst the whole club has no idea which ground it'll play in, managers are coming and going, and the fans are in revolt against the owners must count for something. Just think, as JacknOry said, Newcastle could have saved £60m+ on strikers by not buying Joelinton, Carroll and Almiron and having Armstrong and Toney.

I saw the score at 1-1 at my break at work deep in the second half, and expected another drab draw. It was a good surprise to see the result from the sort of game we'd expect to lose in the 91st minute. -

I was disappointed to read James Randi died in October. He was a magician and campaigned against fake psychics, and those con men who claimed to be preachers. -
Dubois vs. Joyce is more relevant and will probably be better. I think that's on tonight as well.

Not as weird as seeing your sister on every game show going! She's been on several including The Chase, Impossible and that one with that Scottish lesbian midget. She's probably been on even more that I will remember later. -

If we look like we have no realistic chance of promotion with about 12 games to go, then it is definitely bye bye Tony, if not a bit sooner. -
I'm not really impressed with this. We have plenty of mediocre midfielders, or youngsters trying to establish themselves in the team so an old player wasting wages isnot what we need. What can he offer that Johnson, Buckley, Chapman, Lyons, Evans, Bennett.......... can't?

From the tiny bit of a play off game I saw, it was so far better than the Super League has been. No wonder why Australia win almost every League world cup when we get their rejects and insist on only passing twice at the most until the 3rd or 4th tackle. -

Talking of league, I've watched a couple of recent games, and it is crap in this hemisphere. So often it is one pass to a big lad until the 4th tackle, and then get inventive. I saw one NRL game, with the eels playing the Rabbitohs, and there was more excitement and innovation in the 20 minutes I caught than the last few superleague games I've seen. -

I, and my sister's got JPR Williams' autograph at the Hong Kong 7s one year. My mum is from Pontypridd, so she recognised him as a Welsh legend, but we were too young and naive to realise how great he was. Going up and asking was a bit awkward as we didn't really know who he was. My mum used to sometimes see Barry John in a coffee shop when she was skiving off school with her friends. -
The RFU have just declared that the season for the 3rd tier and below are now cancelled for this season. That'll mean quite a few clubs will go under. As for the game, I expect a thrashing with what we've got on the pitch.
