  1. Putting aside my general dislike I have for the monarchy, I saw who was on that concert and was glad I missed. Sure, Slayer, Depeche Mode, or Laibach were not going to be there, but there was a lot of crap. The news was incredibly sycophantic and over the top but that's to be expected. The only bit I enjoyed was seeing Johnson get booed.
  2. About Ainsworth's playing style, I don't care if it does the job. I'd rather a manager can see what type of players they have and get them doing jobs they are able to do than make silly tactical choices because they want to emulate Pep Guardiola with players out of position and less skilled.
  3. True, and of course I hope it will be inspired if they do come. I'm naturally risk averse so I'd rather he starts elsewhere and then comes on board with more experience. I'd rather go for a manager like Farke, Wagner or Cavahall who have a track record in doing well at this level.
  4. That's the man, thanks. Well at least we won't be wasting £150m if it is him. And maybe he's better finding the lower league stars than big name players in the £20m or so bracket.
  5. Steve Walsh, sounds familiar in such a role but I don't remember which club(s) he worked at.
  6. I saw one of the papers is saying Duncan Ferguson and David Unsworth could be appointed. That would be stupid, utterly stupid. The risk is too high and says Venkys are going for the cheap, untested option yet again.
  7. Ainsworth could work out, or it'll be another few seasons of hanging around near the relegation zone.
  8. More proof that the county game and the ECB are not fit for purpose. And then we have that 100 nonsense, a format not used anywhere else in the world.
  9. If today's panic has any grounding, it shows how little ambition or intelligence there is at the club. No desire to better ourselves, no attempt to get the right people for the important jobs, and happy to save a few pennies but fork out £20m+ to keep a shit show going. There must be some serious money laundering or something like that going on. That's the only reason I can think of.
  10. Nah. I'm not a fan of going to the cinema, and was never into 80s Tom Cruise films. I do wonder if Maverick has accepted his homosexuality in the sequel though.
  11. I admire your natural optimism Chaddy, and I hope it does rain, but generally speaking I skip this race. We don't even have Mazepin to somehow screw things up this year and push a car into the barriers when being lapped.
  12. Can't stand Real Madrid, but also not too bothered about Liverpool winning.
  13. Leclerc should win barring another engine mishap or awful tyre change.
  14. It sounds like a police panic after the stadium staff have screwed up opening gates for fans from the bits and pieces I've read.
  15. Pierre Van Hoojidonk has a big name, I wonder what he is up to nowadays.
  16. I find Monaco dull as hell, and there will be even less over taking now the cars are as long as canal boats. The scenery is nice though.
  17. Surely it would be wiser to bin Pears, and maybe the Greek guy, and have Eastman or a youth player as 2nd choice. Or send the promising youngsters on loan to a League 1 club and bring in a veteran who is happy to stand in when needed.
  18. Andy Fletcher, founding member and keyboardist of Depeche Mode died at the age of 60.
  19. Now VW are in the mix with both Porsche and Audi joining, it will be interesting to see who they'll team up with. Porsche will probably work with Red Bull, and effectively rebrand their engine, but Audi want to be more involved in running a team, or so the rumours say. Williams, Haas and Alfa Romeo would be current candidates for such involvement. Strange to have one company making two engines, with all the costs, and not just having the same engine with a different name.
  20. If you scroll past that picture quickly it looks like the statue is made from teeth or bones. And what is it with Arab owners and dodgy statues? Fulham had that comical Michael Jackson one when Al-Fayed owned them.
  21. I'll guess some scouting, but mainly the admin dealing with player contracts, trying to find untapped talent, try to oversee the youth teams and so on.
  22. We all know it will be something like this: Sporting Director: John Gregory Head Coach: David Dunn.
  23. Well, he's crap and it'll be a sign of further decay and decline. I admit I didn't know he never got relegated, but we have several players out of contract, our top scorer likely to be sold, a dysfunctional ownership set up and massive debts. I believe we need better than Grayson to avoid another trip to League 1 or at least a flirtation with that. and Dunn is a complete tool who is a terrible coach.
  24. Grayson, with the possibility of Dunn as assistant/coach? Nightmare fuel. Simon is good at getting promoted from League 1, and he'd need to be again if he got as long as Mowbray.
  25. Better than Kean or Coyle but that's a very low bar. He blew his big chance this season and couldn't decide on a team, formation or get the right players in at the right time.
