[Archived] More Madness From Mcclaren
USABlue replied to RevidgeBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
See this is the problem, while I was one of the people backing the selection of Martin O Neill over McClown I don't fancy him for the job now. He's not done enough at Villa to convince me he is the right man for the job. BUT he has the credentials for the England job, in otherwords he's a nice bloke, mild mannered and politically correct. It's pretty much the way England have selected their bosses for all time now. It's not just Barwick, it's been the case all along. We need to toss the PC requirement and have us a fireball, job is crying out for Mourihno it really is, we need a radical change of direction at the FA. Best England manager in semi recent history for me was Hoddle and he was canned for a silly mouth. Nowt to do with footy really. When I watched Hoddles England play in the World Cup I thought we were destined for big things. We looked good and the team had youth right through it, I really thought we had a chance to return to the top, well it all got wasted. Listen to us, already assuming qualification because we only need a point, we are not there yet. -

As somone who has had a dislike fo rthe Haggis munchers for all time I have to say they can be proud of their team, I think they can hold their heads higher than we can. There's no shame in goin out in a group that has the World Cup winners and runners up in it. Well done sweaties, your still a bunch of sheeper shaggers though -

Like I said we have no chance of beating Croatia, heh heh too excited I suppose. Is this really a full effort by Israel they do look a little lack lustre, when Russia score again will the conspiracy theories begin? -

No, the goal was for hiding the brown bag, for appearances only . See how much room Israel are allowing now. The Ruskis will win. If for some reason they don't win, England have no chance of beating Croatia anyway. I just watched an archive of England v Scotland on Fox, the difference in the passion and pride of teh English players then to now was glaringly obvious. -

No Rev you are wrong. WE are paying for it, they clearly don't give a toss about who can get the best results for England, they never have, it infuriates me. THE FA should be cleared out and re-vamped with people who have a real passion for the game, bloody hell a comittee of fans would do a better job I'm sure. I am absolutely furious with this lot at the FA, about 98% of the Country's footy fans did not want McClaren, why? we knew better what do they do appoint the meek mannered under the desk head bobbing yes man. -

What a joke, the best performances, the ones prior to Russia, we have seen from England in recent years is when McClarens team selection was forced due to injuries. Had we not had the injuries we did we would have already been confirmed as out of the tournament. -

And that Rev is the proverbial nail on the head. If Jose wanted the job the FA would never appoint him, he speaks his mind and the chicken crap mo fo's at the FA just can't handle that. England are an embarassment, it's not just McClaren it's the big time charlie players, it's why we dropped the valuable points against the lesser teams, no heart, no pride. PLaying for England is just a pain in the ass for a lot of 'em. They expected to just walk over the likes of Macedonia. I wish I had put my money where my mouth was. Not qualifying, as I said from the start, was expected on my part. -

I've told you, it's a ploy by the press to get him out of Blackburn ASAP. -

I'm just really happy he is over his crappy attitude phase, a terrific player with sublime skills and a real eye for goal. By god though he was infuriating me with those pre Mourinho sacking performances, glad that's all put to bed now -

Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Since I've been wrong so often can I have a little smug feeling now. -

Hey watch it, our all time leading scorer was partial to afew pints and a good smoke -
I'd have to agree with that.

Roeders right Norwich do have a top class set up with Prem fan base but what a totally uninspiring hire. I don't think he's up to it myself. Surely a club like Norwich should be able to attract a decent boss.
-
When was Garners FIRST game for us, I remember watching him play before I came here, obviously missed his best years but I can't for the life of me remember how much of him I saw.
-
The penalty was in the bag. The brown paper bag.

TND, from reading your posts I couldn't help but notice we think alike on the FA. I getting a bit worried. It's what it's really about though isn't it. Always has been.

If Benni, as it seems to read on here, did infact turn in another lacklustre performance then his tenure here could well be a short one. There are only two real responses a player would have to being dropped and publicly named as not up to snuff that a player migh have. 1) Take it as a wake up call and work you socks off. 2)Continue with the ###### poor attitude to show who's really the boss. If number two is Benni's option he has to be gone. I'll entertain that perhaps, as someone said, Benni's knock on the head has affected him. Sadly I think it's more what's got into Benni's head than what knocked it that is his real problem. Just my opinion you understand. -

If Benni has any doubt about what Sparky is telling him Sparky should sit him down and have Benni read some of the comments on here. I hope Benni responds in kind, a hat trick Thursday would do nicely. -
Great read philip, thanks for sharing.

I still don't like the new offside simply because it is open too much to interpretation by the ref it already can be used to favour "big" teams. To me if a player is between the ball and the goal in the line of site of the keeper he is interfering with play. Defenders must react to the player also so there again they are interfering with play. We got away with one at Chelsea but I don't think it was so much an interfering with play issue rather than just a mistake by the linesman on the position of the attacker at the time the ball was played. I was furious when the Liverpool goal was allowed to stand when Cisse was adjudged to have not been interfering, even though he stuck his foot out to make contact and defenders reacted. It just seems too difficult to call properly and is wide open for abuse. Now if the player is NOT between the ball and the goal then perhaps not interefering with play is palatable but the situation like Reading, or Terry where there was player(s) in front of the keeper to me that is interfering with play but can legitimately be argued either way by the officials or anyone else should they choose to do so.
