Would be pointless signing this JJ on just a loan. This isnt a loan for some PL academy kid where there is no chance of a permanent such as Tosin. This is a player we could realistically sign, so just agreeing a loan would end up costing us more if he were to do well and then we decide we want him permanently. Either a loan to buy with a fee already agreed or just get him in permanently now. Not sure he is what we really need right now anyway, he certainly will not be replacing Dacks goals with a 1 in 10 strike rate. A proper winger perhaps that can get balls into the area and thus increase our goal return in other ways. Get a left back and push Downing further up could give us that anyway - though Downing usually crosses from deep as he does not have the pace to beat players and get to the byline these days.

Different kind of player to Dack, a lot more pacey and direct. Think him on the right and Dack as the AM would go down nicely. Not gonna happen either way, there will probably be quite the list of teams waiting for him to become free.

Funnily enough, the Maddison enigma is not just consigned to our message boards. Just today i was over at Stokes to get a feel of their feelings towards potentially getting Evans (50/50). Plays when an Ireland game is coming up or needs a new contract, otherwise he is either injured or jack-shit. That has been the story of his career here at Rovers. Yes, he played well in our run - what about the many other years? If he was THAT good, somebody else other than his International manager (of whom he likes to play for) would have snapped him up by now.

I think most of our squad would not bemoan Dack being given the best contract in the squad as he is our best player. if a player is worth the wages, you pay them. Nobody in our squad would complain if an experienced striker like Grabban came into our squad on a bit more than them - they would feel much better than that rather than knowing that SG is one of our top earners. They all earn more than enough - if they want more, go and earn it.

The Canadian is an International, as is Nyambe and WIlliams. As for best players this season, he has played 13 times and is in and out of the team. Yes he played his part during our winning run but generally, you do not see many good performances unless a Ireland game is coming up or his contract is expiring.

We have more than enough midfield cover even if Evans does go. Travis, Johnson, Rothwell, Downing, Bennett, Davenport, Smallwood. I reckon he would go too, saves him having to play for his next contract here. One of our higher earns too - amazingly.
