  1. If Bolton were signing him and he was willing to go - then probably not! ?
  2. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see. Or we can jump the gun and prematurely use it as another stick to beat the manager with. Maybe that time will come where it’s justified - who knows. But for now I’m willing to give the lad a chance and willing him on.
  3. I’m on the fence to be fair, eternally positive though and will judge whether he was a sound buy over the length of his contract not the 300 minutes whilst on loan. Lad’s 19. I’m right behind him either way and thought he was ok at Bramall Lane.
  4. Gets more expensive by the minute when you talk about BB. FYI it’s “undisclosed”. If I need to explain why investing the larger amounts in very highly rated young English strikers is as financially sensible a decision you can make in football - then perhaps we’re on a different page.
  5. Yep. It’s a shit state. Clubs paying 100s of millions just to get there and hundred more just to nearly compete in the “park the bus and get 40 points” league. The FA Cup is alive and kicking for me - and some of this weekends results prove it. I’m sure Newport etc are fine with “big clubs” playing second strings.
  6. Not sure I understand the first bit - he is over promising or he isn’t? And for the second - personally I think the game has changed since back then, different circumstances, and Mowbray a different manager - not necessarily for the worst. Everyone is spending mega bucks in this league nowadays to go up, you can replace the majority of your squad with “proven” Championship players overnight to gamble on promotion but end up like Sheffield Wednesday if it doesn’t work out. Personally I prefer the more considered approach that takes into account the long term health of the club. But to each their own.
  7. 9/10 of the last FA Cups have been won by either Man Utd, Citeh, Chelsea or Arsenal so I’m not sure if it is “devalued”. It’s the bottom 10 or so teams in the PL that’s the problem. The PL in general. Long live the Championship.
  8. Jesus that’s a disgrace. The other lad transferred (not Doidge) - his missus just quit her career to move up north with him last week (according to Twitter) Its going all Oyston.
  9. Instant gratification generation out in full force again I see. Can’t believe you’d prefer a manager to blow smoke up your arse or be deluded enough to think that our squad even has the bare bones of a promotion team in it. Personally I think it’s extremely positive that Mowbray talks about 3-4 windows and we should “expect to be challenging” - it’s realistic yet still ambitious given what has happened to the team over the last few years.
  10. Is that all? Thought it was a lot more. Felt like I was in an Escher painting on the way down - that plus the never ending loop of “Aberdeen at home” sent me a bit hysterical. Thats how I explain my actions later that evening, anyway.
  11. Mowbray had a dream To build a football team He had no money* so he signed some players on loan Mulgrew at the back And Dack in attack We’re Blackburn Rovers We’re on our way back** *Plus a few quid for young strikers **it often feels like we already ARE back
  12. Think Arma froze a bit though, understandable. Was a shame, his kick and chase might have been effective.
  13. Should have won by rights. Proud of the way we approached the game with guile, bravery, effort and application. Made them look toothless, disjointed and ordinary. That’s never a pen though - I had a vantage point from around half a mile away at the back of the stand with uber magnifying beer goggles. Be reyt. Good day out, decent performance. Do ‘em at Ewood.
  14. Yeah a bit odd that. They’ve done the last couple on Friday nights and mates in SYP say it’s chaos. People will just take the afternoon off before the game, but I suppose they reckon weeknights are better than the aftermath at weekends (regardless of k.o. time)
  15. John Marquis - I'm a fan. Barnsley mate is gutted about Potts going - reckons he can make the step up easily.
  16. Haha bloody hell. 4 games worth of minutes (mainly from the bench), two goals wrongly disallowed, two assists, won a penalty. Are we going with the Baby Shark "Bre-re-TON" chant tomorrow lads?
  17. Hence - “a gamble to an extent” But as I say, just my opinion, but I think it will probably work out as cost neutral as any transfer really can be. 9/1 first goal scorer tomorrow. I’m having a bit.
  18. Short of promotion, we need to be a more sustainable club. £3.5-7 million whatever on a highly rated 19 year old English striker is a gamble to an extent. But at the very least it seems like long term thinking. We probably spent the same on Etuhu and Murphy over the length of their contracts AT LEAST. Jury is still out of course, but at least there is some semblance of thinking long term nowadays and I still think he might have enough in his locker to be a sound or at least near cost-neutral investment.
  19. Delighted with that. Brereton is never worth 'undisclosed fee'! That's either to protect Forest fans or us... Just seen "could rise with clauses" - as I suspected. These are often ridiculously optimistic whenever inserted, could even be half that really. Lad will be a bargain!
  20. Was he poor against United? Rose tinted beer goggles maybe, but I thought his movement got him into some great positions (won free kick that got their lad sent off, and should have had the defender that brought him down off too, should have finished a move where he found good space also) and it encouraged us to play on the deck a bit more - allowing us to control the midfield a lot better than usual. Similarly I thought he held people off, popped it off well and got in behind etc in his cameo against WBA, perhaps a question of the intensity in some closing down. Fair dos I do look for the best in our players but I think poor is a stretch, he was decent. -edit- same with Smallwood prior to sending off at Bramall Lane. Played well for me.
  21. I’m still giving him a chance anyway. Would like him to start against barcodes.
  22. He's played 28 games this season according to transfermarkt? Looks a big lad.
