  1. Have I missed something. What's all the talk about Smallwood. I thought his contract was up and we'd released him.
  2. Sharpe reporting that we will be monitoring Wharton in preseason along with the rest of our 'young' defenders. So I wouldn't expect any incoming defenders for a while yet if at all, at which point we'll be picking up scraps.
  3. That's the point he was signed for the u23s at 22 I think Chaddy
  4. OK sweet cheeks? oh and by the way the records far from straight. I'm choosing to leave as its all opinion and its in the wrong thread anyway.
  5. I never said they did. I never rated him before his misdemeanours. Berg was simply a better player. He has far more medals in his collection than Hendry. And by the way what has berg suing the club got to do with his achievements as a player. We clearly aren't going to agree, we are all entitled to our own opinions. And as someone has pointed out already this isn't the nostalgia thread so let's leave it there eh!!
  6. The state of our club at the time and the way he was treated you can hardly blame him. I'd be more concerned about the love in for Hendry with his alleged misdemeanours.
  7. Hendry had far more mistakes in him, in my opinion. Nelsen was excellent I'll give you that and Samba very good. Berg is the only player to have won both the Premier league and league Cup with us. I know people say his managerial spell has tarnished his reputation. My response would be he wasn't given a transfer window to mould his own team. He was only able to bring in a loan player, Josh King, by all accounts many on here rated him highly. If he had been given the opportunity to bring in players of a similar calibre who knows what he could have done. Alas, he was caught in a war between directors/advisors who appeared to dislike each others choice of manager and pulled the trigger at a moments notice.
  8. I'll be hated for this but I think hendry was massively overrated. Sure he stuck his head in where it hurts but only to rectify his own mistakes a lot of the time. Now Berg, he was a legend!!!
  9. If we can only sign 3 we are in trouble. Need keeper x 2, cb x2 and lb as a minimum.
  10. The only believable thing about this Ben whiteman tale is that it's a midfielder, the least priority area in terms of recruitment. I hope its bollocks and if we have to suffer another season of Mowbray, he starts off by signing a keeper or two and defenders.
  11. I bet you he wouldn't give a f*** to be honest. The man has no fear of the sack. And he doesn't care who he upsets in order to deflect attention from his own failings.
  12. Think the interest is in Conor Gallagher of Chelsea.
  13. Shame about Downing if true. I'd be quite tempted to ditch Mowbray and offer Downing player manager if he fancied it. Hope for a Lampard effect. Anything worth a shot to get rid of TM who's done IMO.
  14. Just watching the Wycombe game. What's going on with Gareth Ainsworth. Is that his lockdown look?
  15. I disagree. I think Ainsworth would come if approached. That said, I'm not sure I'd want him, and its all irrelevant anyway as Mowbray appears to have a job for life.
  16. No you are right I don't care either. But I'd rather not laugh(publicly) for fear it will bite us on the arse at a later stage
  17. I think I'll refrain from laughing at there possible demise. This could be us at any moment. I'm not sure anyone saw this coming for Wigan.
  18. Think that's the plan JacknOry. But then that can't do the confidence of Fisher and Hilton any good.
  19. He's just done a full season at Burton by all accounts but as to his ability I don't know. Don't watch league 1.
  20. I think first of all we need a new manager. I like Mowbray and the steady job he's done. But he's not done anything more than Bowyer, who was binned off by this stage in his tenure. Even Mowbray has talked about 3year cycles in management, which means he should be done according to his own theory. If we have any aspirations for the Premier league, it's time for a parting of the ways.
  21. Well said Mattyblue. That said, reading it, it makes me wonder whether Jon Mclaughlin was a serious target or just one of a number of options. I'd like to think our new keeper would come with a significant amount of championship experience as a minimum. Which mclaughlin did not have.
  22. You can see why I'm getting confused(or maybe you can't) but one post you say we had to re-sign him and the next you say we had the option, and then included a link that said we had to re-sign him. At the end of the day I actually tried to defend you for once, but your paranoia took over and thought you'd go for me anyway. You're on your own Chaddy. In future I'll just let everyone pick holes in your bullshit and stay out of it. By the way, is it any coincidence that you started saying we need to find out what division we are in before signing players, 24 hours after Nixon started responding to transfer info by saying that exact same thing.
  23. At the risk of supporting Chaddy and his moronic mutterings, I understood the club had to extend Bells contract as the player himself triggered the clause in his contract. I stand to be corrected and I hope I am, as I hate the fact that I'm defending someone who changes his point of view more than Piers Morgan.
  24. Ain't gona happen. Your mate nicko has said mclaughlin will be no1 with a back up keeper in talks.
