  1. Granted it was up the opposite end but that didn't look an easy chance today it was on the half volley, on his weaker foot and he had to take it first time. Armstrong's chance shortly after they equalised was a simpler chance, as was when Armstrong broke and greedily shot instead of playing an unmarked Graham in. I thought that Palmer along Nyambe were our best two players today. Palmer was the only player who wanted the ball and looked like creating something.
  2. Wandered around today like he was out for a Sunday afternoon stroll and doing us a favour by playing
  3. After an excellent first half a second half that provided a reality check for just how tough a challenge this season will be. Still a lack of depth to the squad just look at the bench today no centre back, Conway the only wide option and Nuttall coming of the bench when we needed a goal. A very tough run of fixtures coming up with could see us beginning November very much in a relegation battle. I don't very often leave games early but that second half was too horrific to watch until the end. Take Dack out of the side and we really lack any creativity or goal threat. I am worried that the Dack injury is more serious than Mowbray is telling us as at first it just a knock that may or may not keep him out of the Reading game, then he said he was OK for the Brentford game and it was just a decision to make whether to play him or not and then he said that Dack would probably be ready for today. Yet he still hasn't even made the bench. Raya 3- People keep telling me he is a fantastic keeper but I'm not so sure yes he makes some excellent saves but he also let's some soft ones, today he should have saved the first and third goal. And his kicking for a professional goalkeeper is embarrassing. Nyambe 7- Very solid and very harshly adjudged to have committed a foul leading to the free kick for the first goal. Not sure why he was taken of. Bell 2- Pathetic, lazy, out of position far too much and clueless when going forward. By a mile our worst player today get Williams back in. Mulgrew & Lenihan 6&6- I though both were decent as strange as that may seem when a team concedes 4 goal but in the second half they were offered no protection or tracking back from the midfield. Smallwood & Evans 4&5- Both were excellent 1st half all over the pitch putting blocks in, winning tackles and starting counters. In the second half they were dominated by the Bristol midfield, the game completely passed them by. Smallwood was particularly bad if he found a Rovers shirt more than a couple times in the 2nd I would be surprised, he should have been given the hook instead of Palmer and much sooner. Bennett 3- I've said it before about Bennett and I'll say it again he is a good League 1 player who can do a job filling in centrally in the Championship but he is not good enough to be a first choice wide man he's a worker but we have plenty of them what we need in the final 3rd is some flair. Should have been taken of instead of Nyambe. Palmer 7- The one bit of flair we had he wanted the ball and was the only one who looked like he might create something, so what did Mowbray do took him of and brought Nuttall on in a decision that summed up Mowbray's subs today. Armstrong 3- You can see just from today why he hasn't got a great record in the Championship, to lightweight to play through the middle. To many times he was eased of the ball by there defenders needs to bulk up a bit if he wants to play central. Graham 6- Gave us a focal point which when he went of we really lacked if he wasn't injured then a poor decision to sub him. Subs: Rothwell 6- Harshly dropped and looked bright when he came on, gave us another creative threat just a shame it was to little to late. Brereton 4- Hard to judge him he had little service and came on just as the tide of the game had turned. Nuttall- Just not good enough for this level.
  4. Let's hope that we never play 3-5-2 as we look awful whenever we play it.
  5. Surprised that Travis didn't go surely he would have benefited more playing regular 1st team football than being 6-7th choice central midfielder and in out of the squad. It would have been good for Nuttall to go out on loan and lead the line regularly at a club but with Samuel's injury we probably need him around in case were to have a couple injuries up top between now and January.
  6. A good window, just a shame we didn't get a pacey winger in that would have made it a perfect window for me. Surprised that Mowbray appeared to put all his eggs in the Chapman basket as when he was here last year I got the feeling that Mowbray wasn't as big a fan of him as some were.
  7. Whittingham gone, no shock given that he couldn't make the bench despite all the injuries we've had. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/august/whittingham-departs-rovers/
  8. But if he got an injury then we wouldn't have got him off the books.
  9. Wouldn't be surprised to see the same with Whittingham at some point today.
  10. Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Bennett Evans Palmer Dack Rothwell Graham Subs:Leutwiler, Downing, Reed, Smallwood, Conway, Brereton, Armstrong/Nuttall
  11. Just a pacey winger now and I think we have had a near perfect window. I Wouldn't be against another centre back but I think we have enough there at the moment to get us through to January where we should be able to get Bauer at a cheap price otherwise Charlton lose him for nothing in the summer.
  12. Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Evans Bennett Armstrong Dack Palmer Graham Subs:Leutwiler, Rodwell, Williams, Reed, Smallwood Rothwell, Brereton
  13. Interesting though that it is only an option and not an obligation to buy in January, which is slightly worry as we are owned by Venkys and in a few months time they could quite easily have changed their minds about spending such a sum of money.
  14. Come on I like Mowbray but his tactics are hardly revolutionary are they, I'm sure any decent players who has played in the Championship and premier league as Reed has could soon pick them up. And we aren't playing our normal tactics anyway. Also what difference does it make how many sessions Rodwell has had he needs match fitness and the best way to get that is playing matches.
  15. He had a pre season with Watford and was training at Everton before coming to us and if he needs games to get up to match fitness why not play him tonight?
  16. Exactly the reason why he should be involved tonight.
  17. I think that Bennett's best position is central as well.
  18. Caddis, Hart, Gladwin, Whittingham and Nuttall are highly unlikely to feature much this season. Infact they hardly featured much last season, I'm sure if we had offers for them they would already be gone. Conway probably hasn't got much left to give. Graham's contract has the option to extend by another year. Mulgrew I would have already offered a new deal to in the summer when others were getting them. I'd hold of on giving Evans one just for a little while let him play a couple months with no injuries. Rodwell if he was brought in on anything less than a 1 year deal would have been foolish given he past few years. And Reed and Palmer are loans which most football league clubs have at least a couple of a season.
  19. Brererton for 6 Million is much more reasonable than some of the crazy figures that were being bandied around, its still big money but we are desperate for a striker and its getting late in the window so prices are bound to be inflated. Would be nice to get him in today so he can get some minutes under his belt tomorrow. From what is have read about Reed I like the sound of him also signing him would allow Travis to go out on loan and get a full season of first team football. I wouldn't be against signing another centre back but I think we have enough cover there to get us through to January when Charlton may well be out of the play off picture and take a small fee for Bauer instead of losing him for free in the summer, Bauer is clearly someone who Mowbray is very keen on. I would also like a pacey winger but I don't think that is likely to happen as Mowbray doesn't seem to be a fan of natural wide men.
  20. Will be a tough game this and as much a I would like to progress in the cup, I feel with the injuries we have we can't afford anymore to key players so I would field a weakened team. I'd give Bennett, Graham, Evans and Mulgrew all the night off completely to have then ready to go for Sunday. Leuwiler Nyambe Downing Rodwell Hart Tomlinson Travis Whittingham Rothwell Conway Nuttall Subs:Fisher, Lenihan, Caddis, Bell, Dack, Smallwood, Palmer
  21. If he keeps performing the way he has started this season then he will be worth nearer to £30 Million than £10 Million come the summer. Not that we should be even considering selling him any time soon anyway.
  22. A club record fee on an unproven teenager who scored just 5 goals last season, if we can't find better value than that then it is a poor show.
  23. Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Evans Bennett Palmer Dack Rothwell Graham Subs:Leutwiler, Downing, Rodwell, Travis, Smallwood, Conway, Nuttall
  24. I'm not worried about what Sunderland fans think of him, I'll judge him solely on what he does with us. When we signed Graham Sunderland fans didn't have a good word to say about him yet I'd say that he has been an excellent signing for us.
  25. QPR have brought in two proven Championship goal scorers today and yet we still haven't brought in a striker despite knowing that we have needed an alternative to Graham since the end of last season.
