Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
Ewood Ace replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
But that is part of football. You could easily flip that and talk about if Leeds had finished one of their multiple chances or if Vardy had scored when Carter headed it back to him. Look at the clubs Mourinho worked at and the managers he worked for. The biggest club this bloke has ever worked at before is Watford in the 2nd tier and the most time he has spent at a club in management is at Kidderminster Harriers in the 6th tier. He's very media managed repeating the same things all the time and towing the party line. Yet the fact remains we slide even further under Eustace. -

Our new Messiah couldn't even get Kidderminster out of the 6th tier when he had one of the few full time teams in the league. He lost in the play offs at the first hurdle both times firstly to the might of part time Chorley and then to the might of part time Bradford Park Avenue. -

You'd never think reading this that we ended up closer to relegation in terms of points and position than we were when JDT left the club. You'd think we were cut adrift in the bottom 3, changed manager then went on a great run and stayed up a la Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday. When in reality we won 3 games in 16 including none at home and scored on average less than a goal a game. Also Eustace's points per game this season was worse than JDT's. -

How do you work that out he played under him for 2 seasons, played 65 games and won the Premier League. -

The problem is with all this talk of mentality change and of players liking Eustace is that results didn't get much better and we ended up closer to relegation than we were when he took over. If Eustace had an impact like Rohl, Harris or Cifuentes then I'd believe it but it just seems to me they like a softer less demanding manager. It's only natural Eustace will have lower less demanding standards, his career peaked playing for Watford in the 2nd tier whereas JDT played at the very highest level including playing for one of the greatest managers of all time. Also Eustace has no Plan B you only need to look at the likes of Millwall, Plymouth and Coventry at home to see that. -
Silvester sacked Baker appointed

Is this not a contradiction? You seem to be approving moving Sylvester on after his cock up this January. But you want to keep Broughton who is on record taking responsibility for cocking up not 1 but 2 transfers last January. -

He seems like his heart is in the right place but not his brain. He's only owned the club just over 2 years and is about to be on his 4th manager. Hull under Rosenior have just had their first top half finish in the Championship in the last 7 seasons and I would not be at all surprised to see them go backwards next season. -

Scoring just 5 goals from set pieces all season is terrible but not surprising as we haven't got anyone who can deliver a dangerous ball into the box. If Eustace is going to continue with his very negative approach (which limits the amount of chances created) then making the most of set pieces is going to be key to turning draws in to win. -
Hull have made a big mistake sacking Rosenior, I think that he has a big future ahead of him in management. I would be elated if we admitted we'd made the wrong appointment with Eustace, binned him off and brought Rosenior in.

And he went to Ipswich and hardly played. I don't expect the club captain to jump ship as soon as he is faced with a bit of adversity, just knuckle down, get on with it and set an example. -

The area of the pitch we have to sort out first is the centre of midfield, for me the most important area of the pitch and we are weak there in both depth and quality. The Travis situation needs sorting personally I would move him on, him jumping ship when he did as club captain was unbecoming in my opinion. Garrett is no way near good enough for the Championship, he is League 2 standard at best. Buckley was going to be the saviour when he returned if you listened to some but it was another false dawn, time for people to accept that he is not good enough at this level. Obviously we shouldn't be offering Fleck any sort of extension and the other option in JRC is for me a better right back than midfielder and he is also our best right back. His legs have already gone that is why he has to play in a back 3/5. Which significantly limits us as a team. -

Never mind top tier football, he'd never even played 2nd tier football. I don't think there would be many queueing up to activate it

McFadzean has been a good stop gap for the last few months but that is all he should be. He will turn 38 during next season and he limits the way that the team can play and set up. I fully expect him to be offered a new deal but I think a more forward thinking and more ambitious club would be looking elsewhere. -

That first goal yesterday was absolute class he has so much to do when the ball is whacked up to him and he makes it look easy. -
John Eustace - our head coach
Ewood Ace replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
A clear pattern emerging with him his best 3 performances have been Leeds, Newcastle and today. All 3 games we were big underdogs and could set up defending very deep, keep 10-11 men behind the ball, rely on a bit of luck and hope Szmodics could do something on the break (which remarkably he did in all 3 games.) The problem is you can't set up like that on a regular basis in this league. You can't play like that at home to the likes of Millwall, Plymouth, Wednesday and 10 man Coventry. And if we don't want to be facing a similar challenge next season we need to find a way to play against and beat those sort of sides at home.- 3118 replies

On the flip side in his 16 games we have score just 14 goals and 5 of them came in one game. We have scored more than one goal in just two games. We have also failed to score in 7 games. Not to mention a dreadful points return of 14 points fr9m 15 league games and a failure to win a single home game. -

50% of our attacking threat? Come off it Adam Wharton is a fine player but to suggest that he with 2 goals and 3 assist was 50% of our attacking threat when we have the leagues top scorer who has the most goals in a season for the club since Shearer is preposterous. Anyway if Wharton had played under Eustace his ability to impact a game would have been stunted by Eustace's dreadful cowardly football. The reasons Wharton developed so well and quickly under JDT was that JDT encouraged his players to play football and take some risks. -
John Eustace - our head coach
Ewood Ace replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Has he? We are closer to relegation now in terms of points and position than when he took over. And he has the same number of points from his first 15 league games as JDT did from his last 15. I'd say an example of and manager going in a steadying the ship is Neil Harris at Millwall who were 21st when he went in there and they are now sitting comfortably and how has Harris done that he's won 5 home games whilst our clown still hasn't managed one.- 3118 replies

Yet the returns have got no better under Eustace and we are now lower in the table and closer to relegation in terms of points than when he took over. So what does that say about Eustace and the the ship he is in charge of? And if we do achieve what you view as a success and stay up it will be thanks to the points accumulated by JDT where in the first 4 months of the season where he massively overachieved with this group of players. -

Perhaps because Mowbray had superior squads (and underachieved) and he was backed much more significantly in the market. Just look at what Mowbray brought in in his final season when we were around the top and what JDT got last season. -

And we've continued dropping under Eustace. It is only because of the overperformances that JDT got out of the players early in the season that we aren't already dead and buried.
