Probably Nyambe before he fell out of favour. But I certainly wouldn't say Bell he's a centre back's nightmare, a full back who doesn't attempt to stop crosses coming into the box. Bell and Bennett were our worst 2 defenders last season.
-
Bell our second best defender? I'd say along with Bennett he was our worst, he is a full back who doesn't attempt to stop crosses.
-
Not as good as Raya and I didn't rate him.
-
Jonny Hayes?
-
A shame that Mowbray doesn't appear to.
-
Nyambe is a fine player but last season his progress stalled after Christmas when Mowbray for some reason decided that Bennett was our first choice right back which meant on some occasions Nyambe didn't even make the squad. Nyambe should be our first choice right back but sadly the manager doesn't agree but even if Nyambe was our 1st choice right back we would still need another player to cover him there as Bennett showed consistently last season that he is a terrible full back. As for Bell you quite simply cannot have a full back who does not attempt to stop crosses going into the box. As for not gelling we conceded 69 goals last season even though that was the third season that most of that defence had played together. Even if there were some teething problems (which is by no means a certainty) it would improve the team over the course of the season and beyond that. If he uses Bennett at right back and Bell or Williams at left back then he is setting himself up to fail.
-
If our full backs for the coming season our Bennett at right back and one of Bell or Williams at left back then we can forget any talk of top 6.
-
If the likes of Buckley, Butterworth or Magloire are good enough then they will get into the first team regardless of the age of other players.
-
If you have a bank of 4 a bank of 2 and then a bank of 3 in behind 1 then it is 4-2-3-1 however you implement it.
-
It looks ad awful lot like 4-2-3-1 with one striker to me.
-
I'd be very surprised if we don't start the season 4-2-3-1. We certainly are not going to be going 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 because playing that system we take Dack (our most effective player) out of his best position. About the only way we could play 2 out and out centre forward's is by playing 3/5 at the back but given that we don't even have two good centre backs there is no way we can line up like that. Also at the end of the day Mowbray is a cautious manager, it's not in his make up to start with an attacking line up to take the game to the opponents. Mowbray likes to set up to try not to lose rather than set up to win.

He played over 15 hours of football for us last season, for me that is plenty enough time to come to conclusions about a player.
-
Well with us spending £5 Million on a new striker he isn't going to be playing much more if anymore at all this season. It also make's you wonder if we have such a superstar in Brereton why did we need to spend £5 Million on another striker? It's not like we a short of them.
-
We play one upfront. Graham is undoubtedly first choice, I would say it's a fair shout that Gallagher is second choice. So that leaves the likes of Armstrong, Nuttall, Samuel and Brereton fighting to be the third choice striker. Not sure what is embarrassing about that take? Also I am not your 'pal'. Yes I am. Honestly I think he looks terrible, he's shown me nothing to think he is going to be a first choice striker at this level. He can't head the ball, he doesn't have much pace or any skill to beat a man, he's a poor finisher, he's lazy and he is also very weak although that may change.
-
From what I have seen of him, there is not much chance of that happening.
-
He's shown nothing to suggest that there is a player in there. Also by signing Gallagher he has only moved further down the pecking order, we play one up front so he is now 3rd choice striker at best.
-
Plenty of sides have gone from mid table to the top 6 with out spending that sort of money on their entire team let alone just on forwards. It is massive money in this division because the vast majority of sides could not afford to spend that unless they sold a player or two for big money or they had parachute payments. Also if we do have aspirations for top 6 then it would be more prudent to spend some of that £15 Million on the defence instead of using it on 3 players who are all strikers. Unless the defence is strengthened significantly then we will be no way near the top 6. Personally I think the Gallagher signing is an acknowledgement that the Brereton signing has not worked, had Brereton scored say 7 or 8 goals last season then I highly doubt that we would have signed Gallagher. The Gallagher signing pushes Brereton even further down the order and leaves us with the problem of what to do with a £7 Million dud.
-
We are a mid table Championship club, £12 Million is a massive amount of money. No other club in the Championship is spending that sort of money unless they have parachute payments or have sold a player or two for big money, neither of which apply to us.
-
The fact he's on holiday in Australia when he has a contract offer on the table for him tells you everything you need to know, we should withdraw the offer and stop wasting our time with him.
-
The fact we conceded 69 goals last season is enough evidence to any club that we are desperate to buy.
-
It's a lot of money for a club like ours to be spending on potential. Especially when other areas desperately need addressing.
-
When Gallagher signs it will be 5 and 6 if you count Armstrong, yet we play just one up front. We play with 2 centre backs yet we only have 3 centre backs (4 if you want to include Magloire although he looked some way off to me). Our squad is horribly balanced, we need to strengthen the defence and get rid of some of the deadwood further up the field.
-
We sold Raya for £3 Million and are supposedly signing Gallagher for £5 Million that is a net spend of £2 Million. Cardiff and Brentford have a bigger net spend that us, so repeat it as much as you like but you are wrong.
-
And 2 full backs.
