Today's chaotic events clearly were not planned and are just a sign that the manager had no plan in place. I'm not a great fan of Directors of Football but as I have said previously if Mowbray was to manage us this season then a condition of that should have been a DOF being brought in, as he showed last season he is not up to it in the market. Whilst Mulgrew was clearly past his best to let him go and not bring another centre back in is pure lunacy. I personally thought even with Mulgrew staying we needed another one. Our centre back options are now Lenihan who is decent but injury prone, Williams who is a left back and injury prone, Tosin who couldn't get a game there for WBA, Nyambe who is a full back and Grayson who struggled to get into Grimsby's team last season. The options are even worse than they were last season, we must have as many left backs as centre backs. When I was saying Mowbray out last season people were saying to me give him the summer window to make the required changes. I have seen the summer window and my opinion has only been strengthened. When Derrick Williams ends up being one of your first choice centre backs then you know its been an awful window.

Not on deadline day it didn't. We had a bid rejected on deadline day and got the deal one done over 2 weeks later when the loan window was still open.

You've picked out one player out of many defenders that have moved this summer and this time used location as an excuse. As I said earlier a number of players have moved to other Championship clubs this season for reasonable fees or in some cases on frees and they haven't all moved to London. Either we aren't in for these players or they don't want to sign for us, either way it is a big worry and leaves us with a defence that is a liability.

Wrong. Williams played Ewood against Derby instead of Mulgrew. And at Derby Nyambe and Williams played over Mulgrew and Bennett.
