  1. It will be Waggot trying to be cleaver, they will each have a contract clause that after a certain number of games they get an extension and/or bonus, and having both reduces that "risk"
  2. He signed a 3 year (first pro deal) at the age of 18, No option etc. He will be on circa £500/week at most https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/april/04/gent-pens-pro-deal-/ Rovers should absolutely be extending it if they think he has a future here. And if they don't then why are they loaning rather than selling
  3. He turned down Nantes contract offer to move to England. presumably in order to put himself in the shop window for a Prem move, even via playing vs Prem U21 teams https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24476299.blackburn-rovers-complete-deal-academy-talent/#:~:text=The 19-year-old will,21s for the upcoming season. French outlet L'Equipe first reported Rovers' interest over the weekend and it's understood that is accurate. The 19-year-old will complete a move to Ewood Park, which is thought to be at an advanced stage. Nantes offered Mafoumbi his first professional contract but he has turned it down in favour of a move to England. It's expected he will link up with Mike Sheron's Under-21s for the upcoming season.
  4. Maybe his wife has threatened him with divorce if he signed for Ipswich, her family are Norwich fans https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/april/06/szmodics-eager-to-upset-the-in-laws-/
  5. English is compulsory in Japanese education. So those claims were always likely to be false, unless he was absent from school for a few years 😉
  6. Chaddy does, apparently its Mcfadzean and Batth
  7. Wasn't he the player who was sacked last season for cheering about attacks on Israel? or am I confusing him with someone else?
  8. Personally see it as JRC Tronstad Hedges Ohashi NEW/Dolan Gueye Both JRC and Tronstad offer more than Trav in midfield, and with Travis' wage he is likely next on the departures list. Hedges cutting inside takes the place JRC has held in pre season allowing Brittain to overlap down the right If Trav stays then JRC may play in the 10 slot to give Ohashi time to adapt to English football
  9. It will be a 4-2-3-1 in most games and then some sort of back 3 and wingback system in games such as the Leeds and Leicester away games at the end of last season. That's what Eustace has done his whole managerial career, and there is no reason that will change this year
  10. Thanks for posting that Still see a floating roaming 10 as more central than wide Hedges could play LW, but that being said, we probably need someone with a bit more pace out wide
  11. Yes, that is where he has played for the majority of his career, including here https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-hedges/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/326230
  12. Which article? Can you post it please? A "fluid 10" sounds central to me, not the sort of player I would want trying to whip crosses in for a 6 ft 5 striker
  13. Ohashi doesn't look like a wide player to me
  14. The thing we may have to consider is that maybe our wide players (or at least some of them) can put a decent cross in (at least better than what we have seen in recent years), but with Armstrong, Brereton, Szmodics and Gally (who was never great in the air) to aim at, it was actively discouraged or at least seen as not the best choice in most situations That being said, there are far better crossers of the ball than we have. I just have a worry that "the next Craig Conway" is seen by someone at the club as being Adam Reach (edit who I cannot believe is only 31 - genuinely thought he was over 35)
  15. Have you somehow crossed over from a separate timeline where we signed McGuire and didn't sign Gueye? What happened to Nelson Mandela where you come from?
  16. partially, partially also to try & persuade him to stay maybe too
  17. Do we have to endure a 30 goal season for Ennis coming up then?
  18. signed for Barrow on a free a few weeks back
  19. Phillips even signed a pro deal after the original scholarship deal https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/september/20/phillips-pens-pro-deal-/
  20. Rovers sacked him for thieving from his team mates in the academy (allegedly)
  21. What if we all chip in for a name change? Jack Stokes can be yours for only £3.5M
