  1. Does it work for Carabao cup games though? I thought it was League matches only? Edit - as the previous poster was asking for tonight's game specifically Do agree that a subscription to Rovers TV is great value though, despite the commentary team
  2. Not that young, he is 21 in 2 months. Or has my mind just been warped by Rovers playing numerous teenagers over the past few years?
  3. At a guess, I would say he looked at Transfermarkt and forgot to convert to £s. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-burnley/transfers/verein/1132 "Only" £31M spent according to that
  4. lol, I forgot all about him, kept saying we needed to drop Szmodics to play Moran centrally
  5. That 3 or 4 year deal would include a 50% wage decrease in the event of relegation (standard across the board, as are 100% wage increases for Promotion to the Prem) Which means that if Ipswich were to buy Szmodics and get relegated, his wage in the Championship would be £20-£25K/week, which for a club with parachute payments is not out of reach
  6. Very skillful player who disappears when the going gets tough. Would probably do very well in a team that is flying and suspect he will have a very decent career in the Prem. But he is not the player that you want as a mid/lower end of the table Championship team that needs to dig in to get results. He was ok (not spectacular so don't get too excited) for Rovers in the first half of last season when we were going well, but awful and as such hardy featured once the wheels came off after xmas. So I suppose how good a signing he may be depends on where Stoke should be aiming this season. Just out of interest, is Stokes entire transfer strategy to buy Rovers squad from last season? Ennis, Gally, linked with Travis & Moran 😉 I would have thought Ennis and Gallagher would have been enough of that particular line of thinking?
  7. I think that you are severely underestimating just how much money Premier League teams (including newly promoted ones) pay their players
  8. Norwich no longer have parachute payments https://www.leedsunited.news/transfers/norwich-city-may-have-to-sell-8m-leeds-united-target-as-their-parachute-payments-are-ending/#:~:text=They got their first parachute,at Carrow Road this season.
  9. In the hypothetical world were Rovers can pay anyone £25K/week, I am not sure that work work for anyone, including Szmodics, whilst £25K/week is a lot to Rovers, he can easily get £40-50K/week at Ipswich, and an £8M clause does not offer Rovers the security that they would want for a player given that outlay in wages
  10. U21s & U18s apparently both playing at home this morning.
  11. One of Luton's greatest strengths last time the were in the Championship was having some big bruising centre backs with know how. Last night they had two teenage kids in their back 3 with less than 10 senior appearances between them, and Mengi who is only 22 marshalling them. I gather that they had injury issues in defence, but they did have some slightly older and wiser heads available that would have surely been able to help their younger players. To top it all off, they had another 19 year old making his first senior appearance alongside an injury prone journeyman in central midfield. Given that Luton have Championship knowhow in their squad and on their bench, these were all strange decisions in key positions
  12. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/august/12/lorenze-returns-to-bamber-bridge/ Mullarkey-Matthews to Bamber Bridge on half season loan
  13. If we take Eustace at face value, then that would not seem to be the case JE on Connor O'Riordan: "It’s about developing Connor in the right way. With Fadz and Danny coming in there’s competition for places. Connor can go away at a really good level with Cambridge and get that game time that he needs to come back and really challenge for a first-team spot here."
  14. Bromsgrove according to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Rowett
  15. I am going to be pedantic, and say it will be a left back who can play left centre back (Pickering competition)
  16. Not until March at the earliest, he had an ACL injury
  17. The upside being that there are only 4 teams with that kind of spending power this season, meaning that there are (technically speaking), 2 top 6 spots up for grabs for well run clubs (my bet is Cov and Boro)
  18. its nothing new, but here you go Blackburn Rovers will continue the push to bolster their squad with John Eustace keen to sign four more players before the transfer window ends. Rovers have signed four players for the first-team squad this summer, plus agreeing to bring Kyle McFadzean back to the club on a new deal. However, there have been four exits too, with Leopold Wahlstedt, Semir Telalovic and Sam Gallagher departing. Jake Garrett has also head out on loan. It means Rovers still have work to do with just under three weeks of the window to go and more arrivals are expected at Ewood Park. It was very evident where the holes in the squad are. One goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder and six attackers made up the bench against Derby County on Friday night. A senior goalkeeper to compete with Aynsley Pears has long been desired. Rovers missed out on Jeffrey de Lange last week and have looked at Dutch goalkeeper Joel Drummel. They looked at Asmir Begovic earlier in the window and his collapsed move to Charlton Athletic raises questions about whether they could return to that deal. Though is conjecture on my part and not anything concrete. Whilst the profile of goalkeeper scouted in June were of an older profile, the additions of McFadzean, Danny Batth and Andi Weimann may have opened up the possibility of a younger option. De Lange is 26, Dromell 27. That's a move away from the likes of Begovic or Tim Kurl, both way beyond their 30th birthday. At full-back, Rovers are desperate for some cover. There is every possibility that one of, if not both, Leo Duru and Jake Batty could leave before the window shuts. That won't happen without an incoming though. Left-back is thought to be the higher priority, if only one arrives. Joe Rankin-Costello, Hayden Carter and Lewis Travis have all started Championship games on the right and could feasibly cover in the absence of Callum Brittain. There is more concern about the suitability of the current options if Harry Pickering were to break down for a considerable period. A central midfield is sought to replace Garrett. Eustace is keen to add a different dynamic to his existing options. The loan market could be the avenue Rovers strengthen that position to not block the road ahead for others. Pace and speed, particularly on the left side, is being looked at too. In an ideal world, a versatile forward who could play across the front line would fit the profile. Those four areas are a minimum that Eustace wants to be addressed, notwithstanding any exits. The future of Sam Szmodics, in particular, is up in the air. It felt inevitable 10 days ago that he'd be following his fellow Sam out of the door. Now, it feels like this could rumble on for the final weeks of the window. A fee of £10million with various add-ons and bonuses was always likely to get the deal done. But Ipswich have haggled and played hardball. Considering they are down to 18 contracted senior outfield players a week before the season starts, you wonder if that will be enough to make them stump up. "We're short on numbers going into the season there's no doubt about that," McKenna admitted after their 1-0 win over Nice at the weekend. A clear signal he wants reinforcements. Szmodics has been reintegrated and Rovers remain in a strong negotiating position. But his goal-scoring return should detract from the fact if Ipswich do finally hit the fee, he will leave the club. With the court case looming too, it will be an action-packed and pretty crucial end to the window.
  19. But he is a pressing machine and is a great composed finisher. The ideal player to have if you are a lower end Prem team who wont have much of the ball or many chances so need to make the most of the few that they do have
  20. Standard practice across the board, It generally tends to be a % on any profits made from the sale rather than a % of the total fee
