Very skillful player who disappears when the going gets tough. Would probably do very well in a team that is flying and suspect he will have a very decent career in the Prem. But he is not the player that you want as a mid/lower end of the table Championship team that needs to dig in to get results. He was ok (not spectacular so don't get too excited) for Rovers in the first half of last season when we were going well, but awful and as such hardy featured once the wheels came off after xmas. So I suppose how good a signing he may be depends on where Stoke should be aiming this season. Just out of interest, is Stokes entire transfer strategy to buy Rovers squad from last season? One of Luton's greatest strengths last time the were in the Championship was having some big bruising centre backs with know how. Last night they had two teenage kids in their back 3 with less than 10 senior appearances between them, and Mengi who is only 22 marshalling them. I gather that they had injury issues in defence, but they did have some slightly older and wiser heads available that would have surely been able to help their younger players. To top it all off, they had another 19 year old making his first senior appearance alongside an injury prone journeyman in central midfield. Given that Luton have Championship knowhow in their squad and on their bench, these were all strange decisions in key positions

However, there have been four exits too, with Leopold Wahlstedt, Semir Telalovic and Sam Gallagher departing. Jake Garrett has also head out on loan. It means Rovers still have work to do with just under three weeks of the window to go and more arrivals are expected at Ewood Park. It was very evident where the holes in the squad are. One goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder and six attackers made up the bench against Derby County on Friday night. A senior goalkeeper to compete with Aynsley Pears has long been desired. Rovers missed out on Jeffrey de Lange last week and have looked at Dutch goalkeeper Joel Drummel. They looked at Asmir Begovic earlier in the window and his collapsed move to Charlton Athletic raises questions about whether they could return to that deal.
