I think Given came through Celtic's youth system. -

Very sad news. I saw him put on an unbelievable display in an away game at West Brom the season they got promoted. Along with David Raya the best keeper to come through our youth scheme in living memory. -

Shrewd man management by Eustace. Talks Gallagher up and is rewarded by a goal and an assist in the first half hour. What a contrast to his predecessor who would have spent the week whinging about not being able to sign a No 9. -

Think you only have to remember what Fergie has said about the Glaziers to realise that yet again you are talking drivel. -

Worth remembering that Howard Kendall - one of our 2 best managers in living memory - had 1 win, 3 draws and 4 defeats from his first 8 games as our manager in the third tier of league football. -
We'd lost more than just a few games - from the beginning of December until his departure we had taken 5 points from 11 games under JDT and were heading for relegation. The manager is employed to get results on the pitch not to talk about BS at the club - by doing so he gave the players an excuse for failing which they duly did.

It's India where they will be worried about face - not here. -

I think Balaji saw himself as a "player" and owning a Premier League club was part of that - he sold the project to the rest of the family as a way of raising the Venkys profile on an international stage. Having made a complete mess of things they are prepared to lose a certain amount of money every year rather than admit they've got things wrong. -

Why buy a Premier League club if the objective is to plod along in the lower leagues ? -

I don't understand your post. My comments were about Eustace not JDT. -

I think the only people who will want to rip that statement apart are those who want to talk the club down. -

You're behind the times. We've already appointed John Eustace as manager. -

At least he understands the challenge that the Championship presents and has demonstrated some degree of competence in dealing with it. Hopefully supporters will give him a fair crack of the whip - this season is now just about not being relegated and then we go again next season. -

A sad end to JDT's tenure but, although circumstances were clearly difficult, he didn't help himself with what came across as a defeatist attitude and comments designed to shift blame on to others. -

Not if people around them - management or supporters - are making defeatist noise. -

But our supporters don't deserve it. Which is why the immediate priority is to ensure we don't go down. -

Do you really think that Waggott will have been taking that decision ? -

Our results this season so far without him have actually been much better than with him. -

I doubt if he is that cheap. Suspect he is still being paid by Stoke - which might be around £1m a year. -

As far as I am aware managers who choose to walk then suing for compensation was something from 15 years or so ago with Curbishley and O'Neill. When Pulis tried it on 5 to 10 years ago he lost. I suspect the wording of clauses in managers' contracts were changed after Curbishley and O'Neill to make sure they would have no case. -

Obviously he can make that walk next week if he chooses, although I would wonder why he had waited until then rather than going for his walk today. Of course he, or any other employee, who makes that decision, needs to understand that they will no longer be drawing their salary - although any who are on fixed term contracts also need to understand that if they want another job before the expiry of that term then their new employer will probably need to pay up the balance of that contract. I doubt if he, or anyone else based at Ewood Park, had to consent to the sale of Adam Wharton - that decision was taken in Pune. Sorry to sound so negative - in many ways I like JDT and I don't blame him for the general air of depression around the club at the moment . But then I don't blame Broughton either who has also had to deal with deteriorating finances and moving goal posts.
