  1. Increasingly the owners take short term views and will judge on recent results.
  2. I think the sort of people who own Prem clubs these days are looking for something better than 7th in the Championship.
  3. Villa weren't in the Prem when they hired Smith. Lampard was hired because he was a chelsea legend.
  4. He could quit - he could not be forced to work - but I doubt he could walk in to another job without compensation.
  5. Do Prem clubs approach managers who have finished 7th in the Championship ?
  6. Alternatively you could say we fell away when it mattered whereas Mark Robins' team did not. I like JDT and want him to stay - I don't think the clubs who can afford millions in hiring the manager are necessarily looking at 7th in the table compared with 8th last season as a convincing reason to hire him.
  7. We've finished seventh in the league. Do clubs with ambition go for that manager over , say, Mark Robins who has finished higher ? (if Coventry don't win the play offs)
  8. Off where, though ? As I wrote above, any new club is probably going to have to compensate us, probably for a couple of million or so.
  9. None of us are admirers of the owners but I suspect that if the manager did want to "walk" to another club they would demand full compensation of his outstanding contract plus those of any staff members who left with him - that is likely to run in to millions.
  10. I think they will know the position from Millwall's desperation.
  11. Before the days of floodlights I think games often kicked off at 2pm on Saturdays, timed to coincide with workers leaving work after working Saturday mornings.
  12. Brighton seem to think he is the better player , and their judgement on players over the last few years has been just about the best around.
  13. The report states that it is a 50% uplift in income for the EFL. If the distribution of funds is retained in its present proportions that would suggest an increase in income of approx £4.5m for the club.
  14. The website whoscored.com has Pedro as comfortably the best player this season in the Championship. Brighton are not noted for getting it wrong in the transfer market.
  15. Given the wage differential, I suspect Adam Armstrong would be averse.
  16. I think it comes from people looking at the financial sustainability rules issued by UEFA which require clubs to initially reduce the costs of their squads to 90% of turnover and then to 70%. However as far as I can tell it has not yet been decided that they should apply to clubs in the EFL.
  17. Where does this walk take him to ? He's under contract for another couple of years so will cost the new club a fair few quid.
  18. He's had some backing; the signings of Brittain,Hyam and Szmodics will have cost in the region of £4.5m.
  19. I think he's suggesting PNE will throw the game to spite us. I think that is nonsense.
