  1. He was appointed in February 2017. Literally every other manager who was in the championship then is no longer with that club. He's had longer than the other 23 managers who were in the championship when he was appointed. This thread might be a lot of things, but it neither reveals a lack of patience nor an immediate gratification culture at all. That's just not right.
  2. Felt the same about Bennett last year as first a right back and then, horror of all horrors, as our left back. Decent pros who will try their best and do whatever the manager tells them to, happy to be playing. Feels like they're being set up to fail in positions that do not suit them at all, before you know it the fans are on their backs. Whatever Gally is, he isn't a winger. Like Elliot was never in a month of Sundays a left back, nor a right back either. Cheers, boss!
  3. Here are a couple of examples from Rovers history that shows this would not being anything new: Example 1 - Craig Short. Back in the days of King Kenny he turned down a move to high-flying premiership Rovers to...Derby County in the championship. He eventually made it to Ewood and was a stalwart at the back for years under a number of managers. Even was a coach for us at one stage. Example 2 - Jason McAteer. Turned down Rovers after being very close to a deal to join Liverpool. I'm not sure we were too bothered about that when he scored at Turf Moor in our first match against the dingles for almost two decades. So, I'm sure Kipre would be just fine. It's not a transfer suggestion of mine (I don't have any. Why would I? I doubt Mowbray reads brfcs.com) but I'm just saying that we'd be cutting off our nose to spite our face if we were turning players down just because they signed a better deal with another (premiership) club like we all would.
  4. Random and weird comment. He looked lost today but then smashed in a cracker in injury time to remind us of what he can do. It's obviously going to take some time for him to get back up to speed after a whole year out with a serious injury. Not sure who has being saying any different. What's that got to do with having a grudge for him attending a barbecue?!? As if anyone gives a shit.
  5. Rubbish. Any manager worth his salt would get over himself and do what was in the best interests of the club he manages. That would be bringing him in (IF the manager believed he was what we needed) and not childishly stroking his bruised ego. What happened in the summer happened in the summer, we need a manager who bases his decisions on what the needs are for the second half of the season. 1
  6. Why is it risky? We're crap, we don't have much to lose. Why is it alright to be plodding around in lower midtable under Mowbray but any new manager needs to "comes in and up we go"? At least a new manager gives us a small chance of promotion. Mowbray has shown time and again that he's not up to it. If the manager is the right appointment, then why wait? If they don't go up this season then he's in a perfect place for next year, he'll know the squad and how they play much better than if appointed in the summer. Be as deferential as you wish, but Mowbray's managerial history shows he hasn't got it to take us any further, as does his time at Rovers. He's done well to bring us here, his time is up, we need a new infusion. Someone to take us onto the next level. Not a risky proposition at all, we safe in mid-table. Only risky for those desperately deferential types who can't move with the times. Some people can't adapt to the reality of now, desperately clinging to the good times, like when we were smashing Wycombe for six and Coventry for five. Mowbray's failed once again to get us into the promotion mix, time to go. Any delay is just wasting time. Now is the perfect time to bring new ideas in, get a new manager in and allow him some influence in this transfer window. Not that it'd happen, but it should be "Cheers Tony, thanks for what you've done. But, you're not the best Rovers can do now." All good things come to an end. That's what would happen...under a normally-run club, at least.
  7. Four astute managers when it comes to tactics. Would we expect him to get one over Warnock? Nullify O'Neill? Show Cooper who's boss? Thanks to where we are, we need 9 points from these games. Plodding along is no longer an option. We need an average of 2 points+ from our remaining games this season to reach the playoffs. No safety net left.
  8. Why on earth would we play the reserve side in the cup? A cup run might well be the only exciting thing to look forward to in the second half of the season?
  9. That goal showed just how awful Mowbray's team selection has been this season. WHY is he playing Gally on the wing game after game when we have Dolan who can come on and give the opposition kittens?!?
  10. Did Dack and Rothwell go out on the razz last night? They've both played like they're hungover since coming on.
  11. It's turgid stuff. After this it's just Doncaster at home in the cup in the next fourteen days. Mowbray will have nicely weathered whatever storm by our next league game, even if we have no chance of doing anything this season.
  12. Armstrong's had his dodgy games recently (especially the calamity that was Bristol City away) but today is not one, he's been by far our best attacking player today I'd say. He looks dangerous, terrifies the opposition defence and our likeliest scorer of a second goal. Don't disagree with the chat (it's what this place is for, after all) but it does seem strange timing to be discussing his contribution. If you want to appreciate Arma, just watch Gally try and trap a ball! What does Dolan have to do to get a run out at right wing? Gally's crap out there but TM still won't give him a chance!
  13. Mowbray must be pleased as punch playing this shower of a Brum side today. Napoleon would approve of Mogga, he'd mention something about preferring a lucky general to a good general. They are an absolute shambles and there are no excuses if we don't comfortably win this. We should already be at least two or three to the good already.
  14. The Birmingham defending on the goal shows why they let in four goals in both of their last two home games. Even with Douglas chosen at right back and Gallagher on the right wing (after all, why put Dolan, Downing or Rothwell there?), anything other than three points against these would be a joke.
  15. This has the feel of a dead rubber game, lack of enthusiasm all round. It feels like some second round league cup fixture when you can't even remember which team we're playing. It's not being played at the start of May when we can't really change our league position much, it's on January the second. That's a bit shit all round, isn't it?
  16. Ha, I actually used to post on here back in the Souness and Hughes days, under a different username back then, before Venky's ripped the club apart. Took a break from forums and being into football so much as it was such an awful number of years watching the club ripped apart. Got all excited this year about getting into the playoffs in the spring...a letdown. This season another letdown. Here's hoping 2021 brings better tidings for Rovers fans! Enjoy your New Year's Eve too.
  17. I didn't call fans "dishonourable" so don't put words into my mouth, but there's nothing honourable about calling for someone to be sacked either. As for the rest of your reply about whether to call for his head or not, I don't know what that's got to do with my post or what you're going on about to be honest. I've said about ten times that I want him gone (including in the post above the one you quoted) as he's crap and taking us nowhere. I don't pretend it's "honourable" however to want him to lose his job. I don't think he's "dishonourable" for not resigning either. I'm not going to judge his character, everyone who has dealt with him seems to think he's a decent enough bloke. I haven't heard of any wrongdoing on his part, seems to be trying to do his best in life like most people. You say "who said he would and who sets himself up as being a man of his word". Did he say he would resign and give his word? Do we have that on record that he said he'd resign? End of the day, it's Venky's club and they'll decide if he's to go or not.
  18. Well set-up clubs of our size sell their players when at they are their most valuable and reinvest a portion on a replacement they already have their eye on. It was what Hughes did spectacularly well for years. Bentley, Santa Cruz and so on. The likes of Burnley, Leicester City and Southampton have been doing it competently for years to first establish them in the prem and then push them upwards. Unless you have the likes of Abramovich or Abu Dhabi bankrolling you, then it's what good football governance is all about. I've no doubt we don't the system in place and would bugger it up by looking at Boro castoffs, but it doesn't negate the general principle. What we could do for a steady hand like John Williams today, rather than Mogga's mate in charge.
  19. Every player has a price. If we get a very good offer for any player next month, then we should look to sell. Heck, not as if we're likely to finish anywhere but mid-table anyhow!
  20. We should be offloading some of those in the dressing room as well in that case! Happy with mediocrity and another nothing of a season. As for Dack; who cares what he says when signing a new contract? What did you expect him to say? 'Thanks for the extension to the contract Tony even though we don't yet know if I'll ever be the same player again after missing a whole year out of the game, but I think this is the right time to tell the world that you've lost the dressing room and should leave?!?!?'
  21. He's not likely to fall on his sword, nor does that have a bearing on whether he is honourable or not. Which person on here would walk away from their job to become unemployed when they are under contract and their employers are pleased with the job they are doing? We might want him to leave, but that doesn't make him dishonourable, in fact us wanting a guy to be sacked is the least honourable part of this scenario. Fans just want the best for their football team, it's ultimately a selfish desire. Any talk of honour or fans booing or falling on swords or TM being a nice guy is all utterly irrelevant. This isn't Ethics 101 class. Steve Kean was different, that was all just shady and weird. They're all just living their life, doing their job, not breaking any laws. It's not personal, it's just (the football) business.
  22. True. Who cares if he's lost the dressing room or not? To be honest, if they are all behind him and then that's the crap they serve up then it's more damning than anything else, to be honest!
  23. Exactly. Potting the manager would be the only exciting thing around Rovers recently. We've had mid-table regression with boring backwards and sideways for too long. Without it, this season is already done and dusted. Waste of time even following the games, we'll finish round about where we are now, well away from the playoffs or relegation spots.
  24. Yep. I could get behind most replacements to be honest, just for a change from the crap football and mind-numbing tedium of mid-table dwelling we've had for three seasons. A change is a good as a rest, they say. Well, we certainly looked like a tired bunch under Mowbray.
