v Norwich City (a) - 17/08/2024

The goalkeeping situation would be laughable if it wasn't so alarming. It's got to be our absolute top priority this window. -
Knew it was coming, but hard not to hold on to that bit of hope with him coming on and then starting for us. One positive is that we've started the season with other players popping up with goals and chances. That wasn't the case at the end of last season when it felt like we were dependent on Sammy for every single goal. He deserves his crack at the PL, a dream for every footballer. Wish him all the best.

Back with (League 2) Gillingham. Another missed pre-season, but he must want to make the most of what remains of his career to drop down 2 leagues when they could probably live off the missus' earnings comfortably.

John Eustace - our head coach

I might be mistaken, but last night was the first time I heard the fans singing Eustace's name. -

I really relate to this. Another strange transfer window, walking on with my dad and us agreeing that it barely felt like 2 minutes since the stress of last season... And then the joy of those goals in the second half and the incredible reception that Szmodics received when he was subbed on. Goosebumps. This club is a part of me, through all of the pain and uncertainty. -

Can anyone give me the name of our new walk-out song? It rang a bell. -

The big difference I felt in that second half was looking out at the team and thinking we had an *experienced* team out there. There are areas we definitely need to strengthen, a new #1 is absolutely essential, but I don't feel completely pessimistic about our chances this season. Have to say, for all his limitations, was great seeing Trav back in as captain. Vocal, lots of communication with the young, new lads throughout. -

I like Hyam, think he was rushed back from injury last season although that obviously doesn't completely explain away his form, but I've seen enough of him as captain to think he's not suited to it. Both Scotty and Fadz were far more influential figures, speaking up and organising, than Dom during his captaincy. -

Thanks - we've moved back a few rows so were told we'd be getting new ones. They arrived today. -

I've just renewed for next season and was logged out twice at the final confirmation before it finally let the payment go through on the third attempt. Such a needlessly awkward system. -

Can't Stop is the worst walkout song we've had in my 27 years of supporting. It'll always be Final Countdown for me. I still get a rush when I hear that song for the memories of walking onto the ground. -

They're absolutely tragic, aren't they? Should've got MGP to do a long throw training session with Brittain when he was at Ewood a few weeks back. -

We need just one of Birmingham, Plymouth and Wednesday to lose next weekend. I think this afternoon might just have been enough. -

I thought we switched to a 4 at the back when Pickering went off with Brittain moving up the pitch. -

Kaminski wouldn't have just been the difference this season, but I strongly felt that not bringing him back in when Pears' form dropped off last season was the difference that meant we missed out on the play offs. -
Travis has his shortcomings (although that applies to most of the squad tbh), but he's always seemed to genuinely care about the club and been proud to be a part of it. Even on the day he signed for Ipswich, he was liking tweets from our fans who were outraged at the decision to loan him out. I've never felt that same passion from Hyam.
