  1. We are experts in making offers that are definitely not enough. We are so shoe-strung we spend that long messing about on fees that we always miss out on the better "targets" that come with competition, even when they're heavily discounted. De Lange last summer being the prime example of this. Val wanted 90% of his business done before pre-season. Which contradicts what some fans say on here about patience - that hasn't got us anywhere. It's about getting the targets in as quickly as possible so that they can bed in and increase your chances of a successful campaign. We have billionaire owners but are constantly scraping the barrel and missing out. As it stands today we have 1 new signing training with the first team, no one has heard of him and are short on the following players from last year: Dolan Weimann Batth Woodrow Dennis Cozier-Dubbery Beck Sanderson That's a lot of minutes missing.... from a team that wasn't good enough to get the playoffs. We haven't picked up any astute free transfers, some of these have resale value which would have been key to our model if not spending, in the mould of Viktor Johansson from last year; these are the fine lines that means we haven't and never will make the playoffs under Venky's due to a non-competitive approach in the market: As it stands this isn't a rebuild, it's simply a lot of time wasting and a seemingly major inability to tie down any valuable senior players to attractive long term contracts. There's not a chance we paid millions for Taveres. Career wise he isn't even a player that would be worth Β£2m, it's nonsense... but they will advertise it during the next crisis video. We have all of the signs of a team operating without any influential senior executives... and still, distant owners. As a result current players are holding off from committing, or know they can get a better offer elsewhere.
  2. If you think Dolan's going upwards from here career wise you'll be in for a shock. He's trying to get a move to a team, any team, that otherwise wouldn't typically pay a transfer fee to sign him. Either way I don't think he will have much of an impact wherever he goes, yes we could end up missing him since we relied far too heavily on him, I'll say it again... due to a lack of investment in his position to give him any sort of decent competition... Other teams probably wouldn't miss him as much since they'd spend a million or two on a replacement. He definitely won't get as many minutes as he did with us as close to the Championship top 6 again. If he somehow manages to fluke a prem move off the back of some decent Sky performances and OTT punditry with us, I can guarantee you he won't feature.
  3. Personally think we are already 90% done πŸ˜„ Good luck Val!
  4. We are so far behind in terms of funding and ambition for this level, yet a minority still amazingly want Venky’s in. Mind boggling stuff. Suspect we’ll be eating Wrexham, Birmingham and Swansea’s dust in no time. Rovers have billionaire owners with first team investment level of barely millionaires and it will only result in one thing.
  5. Yep, how can it be advanced talks when you can't afford the fee.... Waggott heading to a slightly early retirement isn't enough either. Suhail Pasha OUT!
  6. Also bizarre to report "advanced stages" as a local journalist and then not follow up on the story with any kind of update.
  7. Good to see Rovers didn't mess around and got the defender who was in "advance talks" over the line. πŸ–βœˆοΈ
  8. Absolutely. The irony "You didn't turn up"... what like the owners for the past 15 years? The club's a commercial disaster. That won't change until new owners come in.
  9. Not relied upon in League One playoffs by the underdogs. Get rid. Take whatever you can get.
  10. Certainly is always more of a gamble at Rovers due to the lack of significant loan fees paid for the better talents.
  11. The poorest bit of recruitment for me last summer was Amario Cozier-Duberry. That "prem" winger loan was absolutely crucial, suspect the club thought they'd brought in a tricky Saka type player that could make the difference. I thought they might have. Turns out he wasn't up to the mens game at all and it resulted in us relying on Dolan again in nearly every game. If they'd got this loan position right, with an Omari Hutchinson or Rak-Sakyi type we'd probably have made the playoffs...... but those loans cost money. It really does feel as though Β£500,000 - Β£1,500,000 cut here and there from season to season has damaged some of the best chances we'll ever get of getting back to the Premier League. As others have suggested when you look at the margins and how we've been closer more often at crucial points in a season than many other teams - without ever quite taking it seriously enough, going up really doesn't appear to be the goal.
  12. I wouldn't be offering him that. Dolan needs a contract incentivised by goals and assists. Ability wise his basic wage should be Β£10,000 per week, Β£12,000 at a push max. Anything above that is ridiculous IMO and I'd let him go. A flurry at the end of the season doesn't make up for a year of frustration... he has work to do.
  13. It's incredible people still take these links seriously. Any signing like this would need to involve different owners.
  14. Appears to be true. The Raya sell on was a Β£4m bonus last summer and had no impact on the budget or squad. Could have signed a top goalkeeper. Szmodics sale didn't impact the striker signing quality. Wharton hasn't even been fully replaced with a quality CM. Bonkers stuff.
  15. How is the Head of Football Operations not aware if the club has a sell on % in the Adam Wharton deal? That's a major influencer in transfers, future budget and generally.... just basic knowledge you'd expect anyone with transfer responsibility new or old within the club to be aware of.... on their first day. It doesn't matter if the deal happened before your time. Palace could sell him this summer. You're telling me he seriously hasn't asked this? A potential Β£10 - Β£15m future windfall for the club. There should have been no doubt. Absolute bunch of clowns... I'd say there isn't one. Gestede looked scared to say no.
  16. "The budget will remain the same" Is all I need to know. One of the lowest in the Championship. No ambition and no backing in the market is the conclusion.
  17. They didn't take the Tronstad injury seriously enough and cheaped out on Forshaw. A total nothing signing - not one a team in 4th should have ever looked at. Unless they simply weren't being backed at all.... An extremely predictable and costly decision. Incompetence in the boardroom and no cash from the owners derailed our season.
  18. Whatever they charge you?
  19. Yep it's all nonsense. You also had high earners such as the likes of Bradley Johnson, Lewis Holtby and Tom Trybull as squad players. We are being fooled!
  20. It's a major own goal from the club. They're a commercial disaster. If you were in touch, you'd sack the lot.
  21. Personally think the damage for next season is already done, they got it wrong and they've scared away thousands of current season ticket holders. They will have a shock when they come to look at the numbers mid May. Only it wouldn't shock anyone with half a brain..... It's not like they can lower the prices when a few hundred have already renewed. Complete and utter morons in the boardroom.
  22. It was scary tonight the number of conversations going on around me about people not renewing. Loyal fans that would normally enjoy buying. Bearing in mind they are already the few that are still attending. Who will be left next season? The club hit so wide of the mark with their pricing and Suhail's untimely reminder during "the interview" that season ticket prices will continue to rise throughout the phases..... completely idiotic.
