  1. $2m in signing fees being "a lot of money" for us underscores where the problem truly lies.
  2. The flip side is he was the silent pillar that kept us above water. Sammie has gotten a ton of plaudits for his contribution (and rightly so), but in hindsight the buffer we had from the months when Wharton was in the team was what gave us the chance to limp over the line. Thanks Adam. Hoping against hope they use the money you made us to strengthen the club for the years to come.
  3. Just on McFadz, effective but limited guys aren't a problem if they're cheap and aren't relied upon exclusively. We won't want to set up with 5 at the back every week, but there'll games like Leicester/Leeds away where we'd be mad not to. I'd keep him around another year, especially given his experience and attitude. Nothing wrong with having a hard arse around a squad like ours.
  4. Looks at the genuine respect and admiration they have for him. Theres no way its the same with Hyam. I think we might have ended up having a different season with Sammie as captain.
  5. The biggest difference is we have a lot more tape on Gallagher.
  6. Its not that bad right? We just need one of those 3 things to happen to be safe. Plymouth or Birmingham don't win or Wednesday lose. Results could have gone much worse in the end.
  7. What really got me about Pears was him giving Hyam a serve for the backpass. Yeah it's maybe 10% overhit but in a moment that's 98% on you just have the grace to put your hand up and apologise to your team mates.
  8. As a keeper, it always annoyed me when opposition players would try to hurry me up when behind. "I'm not on your time here mate" or "you shouldn't have conceded that goal" were my standard lines to them. Youre entitled to take some time to get your goal kick/throw in right. If you want to go faster you do, if not, you don't have to speed up because it suits your opponent.
  9. If so, that peach of an assist is a weird time to reach that conclusion.
  10. The points buffer obviously makes avoiding relegation easier, but we were bottom 2 in terms of form and he had to completely overhaul the team's playstyle (especially in defence). I think given the circumstances his performance is above par, if not massively so. I agree with those saying itll be very interesting to see how he goes with (hopefully) some support in the summer and a full pre season with his squad.
  11. The injury time flops in the box were obviously not pens, but if there was VAR I reckon the handball (Gallagher I think) earlier in the second half would have been given.
  12. For those who have seen many a poor season, how does Szmodics effort this season stack up for individual efforts in one of them? To me it looks ATG.
  13. A striker? Like McGuire? Edit: Sammmmmmiiiieeeee
  14. I'd have to see it again, but on first watch I didn't think he hit it too badly either. Could have had a bit more power but the keeper guessed right and was in red hot form to get a big piece of it.
  15. Proud of that performance, but losing on penalties is such a kick in the nuts after playing that well.
