Remember it well. The challenge which broke Mullen’s leg was arguably the worst I’ve ever seen. The referee was Mr Baker from Rugby, he later became a vicar, and was certainly forgiving that day the Peterborough player wasn’t even booked -
IF this is true and I certainly hope it isn't, it will be the biggest of dozens of own goals over the last 15 years. It will be rightly condemned and highlighted in the national press and broadcasters, and could well be the nail in the coffin of this toxic regime

Just a theory, but I expect in those early amateur days the players were expected to provide their own kits, and they bought what was available at the time -
My recollection is that Reg Blore played as a direct replacement for Douglas and had a blinder. He only played a handful more games and never came anywhere near reaching the heights of that debut.

As you say the 100th and 125th games were celebrated against Football League founder members, together with the books issued at that time. If a similar event had been put on this time, I don’t imagine there would have been too much comment. But, if the club want to celebrate by putting on an extra ‘special game’ then at least make it a game against a proper club with some history or relevance -

You could also add Hendry with Berg, Gale or Pearce to that list. Centre back is arguably the least important position where the strongest foot matters -

Couldn't be put better IMO, even though the outcome is as I expected. -

Agree! Instead ( even though it is the drainage) they should push the fact that the railway which passes Ewood was also closed due to flooding for a few hours on Saturday.
