  1. Shouldn't be hard to get a volunteer then. She'll still have her fur coat and knickers on in April.
  2. Does that mean all players after him are post-modern footballers?
  3. Surely if you can't feel able to judge a player who you never saw play you also can't judge him in comparison to one you did? By the logic for only voting for what you've seen, that makes Richard Brown a better player than Crompton, George Doner better than Douglas, Ashley Ward better than Tommy Briggs and Darren Peacock better than Matt Woods.
  4. "Sherwood or Forrest" -- haha, how inevitable! 11 Merry Men!
  5. Don't think this argument could be resolved, since we don't know how things would've turned out with someone else at the helm. But as things stand, he was not professional enough off of the pitch, not from what I've heard anyway. And his *appalling* injury record does tend to bear that out. Yes, he is genuinely talented. But he hasn't made the most of those talents, and for that you can blame one person only - him!
  6. Maybe new registrations should be suspended until the vote is over?
  7. Are you serious? If true, that is a joke. Rovers can handle it and can surely liaise with the Police at more junior level. It's not as if they're not taking it seriously. Bewildering. We don't even know if there's been a crime yet.
  8. I have absolutely no respect for Steve Bruce at all, I loathe the man. He winds me up. And that was before he shot his mouth off, and stoked things up. He was rabbiting on about Dugarry being kicked up the bum and how it could've ended his career blah blah blah last time.
  9. Shearer only did that because of the barracking he got every game. "Every dog has its day" as he said. Pull the tiger's tail and he'll bite you. Doesn't mean he has ill-will towards the club.
  10. Jay will suddenly get faster?
  11. Well, he'd be able to if he had a decent VO2 max level!
  12. Phil, we still have big probs, dont know where your confidence is coming from?
  13. We desperately need a new pair of full-backs, any winger watching that game would've been rubbing his hands. Lucas Neill doesn't seem to give a toss, what a liability. We've got 5 weeks to get off the bottom or we are screwed. Seems a long-time since the last win, and the last clean-sheet! if only we can get the defence sorted we are laughing. Inconsistent though our attacking play is, we did show class at times. Reid's goal had a big deflection, but he played really well, bit tasty in the tackle. It's just the poxy defence. Don't know why, but Brad doesn't seem so secure these days, maybe picking the ball out of the net is getting to him?
  14. Anyin here remember a big runkour that we were going to buy Trevior Senior from Reading? Long time ago, and probably totally irrelevat! Just before the start of the Walker era.
  15. Never heard of this Morten Gamst Pedersen? Who is he? Foreign or something?
  16. Just imagine how those in Blackburn must be feeling, will cost them an arm and a leg. £100+ for a day out?
  17. I thought it was Man City he wanted to sell Bunter to, not Newcastle? But yes, I think teh majority of people are in the: "Good move, badly executed" camp.
  18. Perhaps there's too many options in the vote? Realistically, Batty, Atkins, Parkes, Kendal, Metcalfe, Barker and Quigley had not a hope of winning but between them they have polled 38 votes. 18 were for Batty and Atkins, votes which probably would've gone to Sherwood. I'm guessing a large majority of the remainder would've gone to Forrest. Which means it would still be neck and neck! Doh! I think CheshireBlue's doing his usual wind-up act. I'm sorry, but I thought Batty was a terrible ball-player. A good thug to have in midfield, but could only pass it backwards or sideways. Sherwood on the other hand, believe it or not, was actually quite a decent player. He scored some cracking goals. One against Sheffield Wednesday was an absolute screamer. I do remember Batty scoring a screamer once as well, but it was very much out of character for him. But not worthy of inclusion into our greatest-ever team.
  19. He was offered an ambassador's role. Presumably he wasn't swayed by the "all you can eat Ferraro Rocher" inducement! (Geedit?!)
  20. There's only one potential problem position. Duff is a virtual certainty I'd have thought. Shearer too. I'd go for Tommy Briggs I think his name was for the second striker's position. But sadly Garner will probably get it! I'm amazed that there's not been more of the more recent players get in. If you think about it ... Rovers have been going for 130 years. Most on here have just watched them for say 30 years, that's 10% of the time. During that 10% of the time, there's been stand-out players in each position, sandwiched by mediocrity, which makes the 95 team perhaps seem better than they are. Compared to teams of days gone by, when we were dominant for long periods, those players that were special in those days don't seem so remarkable as we had a number of strong teams that were established for a long time. So not only do the early players suffer from the telescope effect of more recent (but not as remarkable?) deeds carrying greater weight and a lack of living memory, they also suffer from the unique 10 years which we've had. Crap to good to greatest to bad to good to terrible to awful to good to awful again. So it's quite pleasing that a lot of older names are there, we're not doing too bad.
  21. Ha! 46-all now. Forrest to serve ...
  22. If that's the way it is, so be it. But don't get the hump if employees move on. It cuts both ways so you can't whinge if you're on the receiving end.
  23. "Wearing a blueberry, burbleberry, turtlelorry, bollards to it, a checked cap is like making love to a beautiful woman. First, you've got to try it on for size. Then, you gotta adjust it a few notches to make it good and tight. Then you gotta pull it right over your head!"
  24. We'll be lucky to finish 17th.
