  1. Fine. Jansen was only a great Rovers player for a short period of time but it doesn't stop him being a Rovers legend. If the majority of fans consider him a legend then he is!! Unfortunately, is not as reliable option for us up front than Dickov is at the moment.
  2. And England have scored again..... ... just who was that gainly player who brought the ball out of defence so elligantly???
  3. Well the fans who've gone over to Old Trafford deserve a good sing song!! Morten Gamst Pederson tra la la la la la !!!!!!!
  4. What a strange match. Eating my pie at half time I was feeling reasonably comforable, and so were the fans around me... so just how bad were we then?? Obviously not that bad in the first half. Savage ran around a lot and made his impression on the game, Reid was working hard, Bellamy looked lively, and both of our full backs looked like they could handle any wing play from the Hammers. Fair enough, Emerton looked lacking in confidence.... again, and Pederson doesn't appear to have the strength or pace in open play to get too involved. But we'll forgive him because of his set pieces and his clinical timing!! But a half later and we're the worst team in the league.... is that really the case? Kuqi has no first touch, but we knew that anyway. Bellamy clearly wasn't fit. Mokeana, to me, isn't good enough to play in any position but then I didn't see his good games (were there about 2?) last season. Bit harsh on Todd, he made loads of great interceptions and last ditch tackles... but unfortunately was left exposed by his defensive partner and midfield on occasions. End of the day we know the squad of players we have. We've got good discipline, and without the careless football we'll still beat teams on a bad day. We just need to make the most out of Bellamy when he's fit... .. oh and not play Mokeana again!
  5. It's always the case, people forget things very quickly Souness: inspired Dunn, Duff and Jansen into performing to their ability. Kicked out the overpaid over-rated crap, got us promoted. Bought us a few bargains. Hodgson: Took Rovers into Europe with virtually the same squad that were almost relegated the season before Harford: Had us playing some of the best football I've ever seen at Ewood (ok he couldn't get it right on the road) Kidd: Erm, erm,....... oh well....
  6. I think the average happy Hammer will be harder up than the average Roverite, simply because of the cost of living in London/Essex. But as you say it's all about supply and demand. Hammers fans will still buy the season tickets because they know if they don't, somebody else local with a bit more cash will. Rovers fans don't have this worry and know they'll always be able to go to a game if they really want to. Still think if our ground had only 20 - 25k capacity, we'd sell more season tickets.
  7. Cheers Andy, I'm OK and have accounted for everyone I can think of I know. Hope your colleague at work makes a full recovery soon. I work near Victoria and so wasn't aware of anything until the news came through at work. Was supposed to be playing five-a-side footy tonight but of course it was cancelled. Walking home and crossing West Minster Bridge was a very surreal experience. Not a bus in sight yet hoards of people marching on the streets to find their way home. We will all be back at work tomorrow though, from the stock exchange at Bank to to the Lebanese Restaurants on Edgware Road. cheers Dave

    Semi Final

As long as they keep the games at Cardiff there's going to be problems whenever the ko is. Midday ko means fans risk missing the start. Late afternoon ko means too many drunken fans. 3 o'clock on both days will probably work but with TV licensing laws that rules out the Sat game. Looking at it from all angles, I expect the games to remain in Cardiff (although that's obvious) with a 3/4 o'clock ko on the Sunday and a lunchtime ko on the Saturday - leaving Rovers fans the only ones with the short straw.

    Semi Final

I'm sure Channel 4 news said our game was on the Saturday, but I can't find it confirmed on-line anywhere. Not even the FA website. Anyone know if the London Branch will be booking any train tickets in bulk? (I say this while pulling splinters out of my back from being in the woodword over the last couple of months... )

    Semi Final

So the BBC are definitely showing the Sat game, and get first pick?? Got to be us on Sunday then. Going to be nice and cosey on the train to/from London
  11. Now that must have been some concert.....
  12. First of all, I'd like Barry to stay. He shown signs in recent matches of having great ability to drive a team on, and great energy getting from box to box. With Flitty now playing the holding role he certainly looks more comfortable in the Prem. But... he's a long way off proving he can cut it on a regular basis. The only Prem club I could see coming in for him would be Newcastle, and by all accounts Fergie was non too keen on Souness by the time he left. I also don't think Rovers would sell him to Souness for anything less than they paid in the first place. And now there's Rangers. Yes, they're interested and they have a bit more cash. Maybe Hughes sees there's a deal to be done. £7m should still be the minimum asking price. O.K. we'll take £6m if Amorrusso goes with him. I do believe though, like someone mentioned, we haven't coughed up all the cash for Barry yet. Now there's the player himself. We have no quotes from him so let's not slate the guy. Fact is though, if he goes back to Scotland, no matter the reason, he's failed in the Premiership. He'll play in 1 big fixture every year, with the odd "glamour" European tie in front of 10,000 fans in Turin or something. That's it, all over, and no coming back. Now he doesn't strike me as the giving up type..... so what is it Barry?
  13. Agree. Although now the transfer request has been handed in, I guess it will come down to who Savage wants to join most, Everton or Rovers. (of course I'm assuming Everton are actually interested in him). Still can't see how being in Brum makes it any less difficult to visit family in Wrexham. Quite obvious he wants away, but the question is why? If it does come down to wanting to play for Mark Hughes, then it's fantastic news for Rovers. Everton and the prospect of European football is probably more likely though, although that's certainly not guaranteed at this stage of the season. I think we'll get him now.
  14. A good cup run would be great to install even more confidence in the team. Gives us opportunities to play more of the fringe players as well.
  15. The trouble with the team that played against Spurs was that too many players didn't play to their potential against an organised, but pretty poor, Spurs side. Fergusson was bullied out of it by Brown, and Emerton reverted back to last season's form. I don't think we can afford to change things around as we've at least looked organised at the back in the last couple of games. Maybe Bothroyd will start ahead of Gally, but leave it unchanged I say. Pub near ground anyone? Cherrytree?
  16. Interesting stats there. What a crazy game... Great start, well taken goal and I thought we started well all round. The goal we gave away for the equaliser was sloppy in that we tried to play offside (I think it was Todd) and got bitten in the arse. Good finish from Anderton. Then the midfield fell apart. Tugay was woeful, and Fergusson appeared to be huffing and puffing his way around but to little effect. Jay was skinned by Melchiot for the second, but where was his support from our left winger (think it was Emerton at the time)? Melchiot in the same situation and Reid was exposed in the same way but this time McEveley was to blame as he stepped up far too much. Also Fergie has to take some of the blame for Dunnie's goal as he sloppily gave the ball away and then un-necessarily dived in and got himself booked. Awful - halftime. Didn't think Jansen had played any worse than the other front 5 players but someone had to be withdrawn at halftime and so it was him. What a turnaround. Reid aweseome, Fergie suddenly played like a £7m player, and the introduction of Thompson meant we had real control of the midfield. All of a sudden the defence looks a lot more solid, and Jay was also allowed to roam forward as it appeared that Emerton had been well drilled to put the pressure on the ever dangerous Melchiot and kept him pinned back. All in all I do believe we should stay up, but it's going to be a long hard slog. Still convinced our back four isn't that bad and it's often poor defending from midfield that presents a lot of our problems. Keep within touching distance of 17th by the new year, avoid bottom spot at Christmas (the dreaded curse) and a couple of shrewd signings in the new year and we will be ok. Good support from the crowd BTW.
  17. I don't think Chris is critiscising Dikov in particular; just pointing out his limitations. I think that he's been a great addition to the squad, but he's nowhere near as good a player as Cole. That's the problem I have with the current situation. We've started the season without a strike partnership again. For this we can blame Souness. Not Dickov or Chris. Just look down the East Lancs road and I see a former Rover (Bent) doing very well in a hardworking Everton team. We sold him to fund the cash for Cole. Good move at the time. But now we've sold Cole for absolutely nothing and in doing so have turned Jonny Stead from being a blinding striker into a player severly lacking in confidence. For all of Dickov's hard work and skill, I think he's a bit of a greedy player and doesn't create space as well for other players like Cole did. We have to move on now, and get on with it. But it's blatently obvious we have a striker problem. We have 5 of them. They're all decent but none of them appear to be clicking. Very worrying.
  18. I don't know how this topic has degenerated so much but it makes amusing reading. So let me get this straight, Blackburn Rovers fans either shop at Originals (how ironic), or Matalan! Another sterotype is born!!
  19. BUT, what about the people, who don't want to stand, sat behind the people who will not sit down? Is it just tough sh*t? They've paid alot of money to go and watch the game. I'm 6 ft 4 inches - I prefer to stand, the seats are very uncomfortable for someone of my size, BUT I'm not going to spoil it for the people behind me - I'm not that selfish and arrogant! IF they did have some sort of standing area, I would be in there like a shot, but until there is I'm going to respect the people around me, not behave like a complete ****. I know what you are saying about the people who dont want to stand and cant see but if you ask the majority of rovers fans to sit down then they will tell you no, because the person in front of them is standing and so on. You simply need to tell the steward or police. It is there problem to deal with the standing fans. You can simply ask them to sort the problem or ask them to move you if they cannot sort it. Hughsey, you're missing the point. When 7,000 ManUre fans come to Ewood I would say 95% of them are blokes with no consideration for anyone else but just how much of an arrogant tw@t they can be. Collectively they want to stand, and when 7,000 fans all decide to stand there's nothing stewards, or even the police can do about it. By contrast, of 1500 travelling Rovers fans (and that's a good turnout) there's a much greater mixture of families, women, old/very young etc etc. As well as the occasional follower. You have to understand that the majority of these supporters do not want to stand!! And of course, the majority of those that do, don't suffer from the same insecurities as our Manc friends down the road, and will respect the wishes of those that wish to sit down and also sit down. This makes the tiny percentage of the away following that are obsessed with standing up no matter what, just appear stupid sad morons with no real life to speak of. Think about it.....
  20. I knew this would come back and bite me on the arse some time. B*llocks Ditto. The last time I had to pull strings to get a Rovers ticket was for Gillingham away - last game in Div One ! This is the headline on Norwich's official site ticket news section EXTRA 700 TICKETS FOR BLACKBURN MATCH CITY are pleased to announce that approximately 700 extra tickets have become available to Club Members for Saturday's Premiership clash with Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road. The Lancashire club have confirmed they will not be taking their full allocation for the game, so there will be extra seats available for Norwich fans in the Jarrold Stand. If anyone going down to Norwich tomorrow has a spare ticket, or knows of any other way I can get one (in the away end of course) then PM me please, and I'll pick up later tonight. cheers
  21. I knew this would come back and bite me on the arse some time. B*llocks
  22. Is the Sport hotel the Norwich village sport hotel Here?
  23. Team.... Freidel Neil Short Johansson McEveley Reid Tugay Fergusson Emerton Dickov Bothroyd Great to see Jay back in the team and Johansson can't do any worse than Matteo (although how much does playing with Amoruso hinder you?). Strange one up front though, but our other Jay has shown a lot of promise when he's come on as a sub. Stead in for Dickov and maybe Todd in midfield behind Fergie and that would be my choice. Let's just show some fight and belief and I will be content with that.
  24. If Arsenal attendances are down 2%, just how much are they charging for tickets? Right now they're clearly playing some of the best football ever seen in this country, and with all the band-wagon jumpers in London I'm very suprised their tickets don't sell out straight away.
  25. Certainly not got a problem with people not paying for a ticket out of priinciple. If more fans did this than the message will finally get through. I do think it's too much but will still be going because I can get to the game. I could, in theory, get to nearly all Rovers home games as well but choose not to because of the time and effort this would take. I guess I was spoiled as a child being able to walk down the road and be at the ground in 20 mins
