That was his best signing, a class act. -

You can pass the ball faster than any player can run. He can pick a pass, no problem. The lad is going to be a good ‘un and we sold him at a knock down price to the first bidder. -

I heard there was a falling out behind the scenes after the Utd game at Old Trafford when he changed the line up to go to a 4-5-1 when we’d been blowing teams away with the 4-4-2 and we got dicked without laying a glove on them. I remember watching his team in Italy when he had Zanetti, Ince, Djorkaeff and Winter in midfield and they were still a dull team to watch. -

He bought more shite than any other Rovers manager in my lifetime , and that includes Kiddo ! Christian Bloody Dailly - £5.2 Million, about 10 times what he was really worth. Henchoz was his only really good signing. -

I would have been playing that way whilst we still had Wharton to pull the strings. -

I think he made the mistake that some players destined for big things at a young age make. He thought he was there already. I agree with you when you say he was being held back by his attitude. I’ve never seen a player get so many cheap yellow cards. I don’t think he’s ever got one for kicking somebody up in the air. The red he got for bouncing the ball on an opponents head sums him up really. Why do it ? Let’s hope he’s smartened up after his trip to Sheffield. -

Possibly the lowest point in my Rovers watching career. I really thought we were going to win the Cup that season. West Ham v Second Division Preston in the final, we could have beaten both of them. I think Preston beat Oxford in the next round -

I look at how Arsenal put them to the sword and think how massive the gap is between the mega clubs and the also rans. It’s getting noticeably bigger every year in my opinion. Then I look at Luton and think well maybe we would have a chance if only we could get the Chicken Chokers to behave like normal owners. Forlorn hope I know.

Yeah, you need to have a “ quietener “ or two in your locker at times. I used to say ” I can see how good you are, now let’s see how brave you are ? “ -

We need him to be playing. We’re toothless at the moment if he’s injured again. For a big guy who’s not overly physical he seems to be really injury prone. Great pass for Sammi’s goal yesterday and a nice finish for his own goal. -

The change of playing style was obvious. I was expecting more of the old ways of playing under Johnno and Lowe. -
Err, no.

There’s a really interesting article in my Sunday paper, “ The Observer “ regarding trends in modern football. It’s about a very successful young Canadian professional gambler who has bought Spanish 3rd tier Castellon. It’s full of the sort of stuff only Americans can spout. I can see other American owners a bit nearer home thinking the same ideas. It’s all very data driven and focussed on developing young players, presumably to sell on. At one point he says - “ I won’t throw €350,000 at some 35 year old “ . Well sometimes you need the odd 35 year old in the team. He also says “ A long cross is a very low EV ( expected value ) . Passes in the box is a useful metric to teach the best value shot “. That sounds a lot like the way we were playing until recently. Not always with a great deal of success. One thing that did make me smile - “ Many owners don’t know what they’re doing and the real goal of decision makers is to keep their jobs “. Mm, that sounds very.familiar.

That was a strange signing for me. They could have had Kaminski for a quarter of what they paid for the lad from City and at the moment he’s a better keeper.

I’ve got to admit Arsenal are going well. It’s not a forgone conclusion who’ll win it this year.

Somebody missed out Ken Knighton there, possibly the first name on the team sheet.
