  1. I like Big Sam as a manager but heading all those footballs back in the day is catching up with him.
  2. The Miracles - Going To A Go-Go
  3. Ronnie Clayton , who knew Duncan Edwards well enough to have been his best man when Edwards was going to be married, told me - “ This lad is going to be the next Duncan Edwards “.
  4. That’s why they’re playing at that level. Having said that the job of the manager is to get the best out of the hand he’s been given, not the hand he’d like.
  5. Anybody else get the feeling some people on here were hoping we’d get relegated so they could just bash Eustace a bit harder ? Sammi’s goals must have really pissed them off.
  6. It’s money in the bank, not that Rovers will ever see any of it.
  7. Football is full of lower league players who were going to be “ the next big thing “. I remember going to watch Rovers “ A “ team versus Rochdale reserves at Spotland years ago. A pal of mine was playing for on the right wing for Rochdale reserves, a lad called Paul Crossley, he later played for Preston and Tranmere. He was up against a lad called Billy Wilson and Paul ran him ragged. He said to me after “ You’re a better left back than that kid I was up against today Tyrone. “ He was really impressed with our No 8 , a player called Roy Wilford. I agreed with him about Wilford, it was like watching a young David Dunn. He was everywhere on the pitch. 12 months later Billy Wilson is our first team left back and went on to be a regular for about 10 seasons. Roy Wilford was released to have a decent career in non- league football. The moral of the story - players develop at different rates as teenagers.
  8. If we are going into next season with a handful of magic beans as our war chest we could do a lot worse than Eustace.
  9. Chuck Willis - What Am I Living For
  10. He comes across as very level headed and hard working. No surprise there.
  11. We didn’t have to sell him from a player point of view. We could have asked for whatever sum we felt like asking.
  12. We can get loans in but the number of=players willing to sign on full time to the Chicken Chokers Flying Circus are few and far between. Only if there are no alternatives will most players join up. The world of pro football isn’t very big and everybody knows about the shit show behind the scenes at Ewood Park. It’s obvious really. If you were in the market for a new job and your choices were a couple of well run, forward looking, stable companies and a nightmare place where you don’t know what the future holds where would you go ? The nightmare place would have to be paying well over the odds before any sane person would consider going there.
  13. You can only ride on the back of a tiger for so long before you get eaten.
  14. Beckenbauer at Wharton’s age was the best attacking midfield player I ever saw. He had it all. A real Rolls-Royce of a footballer. Then he decided to drop back into the back four to prolong his career.
  15. I agree with the comparison with Sammi and Andy McEvoy. Both converted midfielders who scored plenty of goals.
  16. Interesting to hear what he had to say about Vince Grella. He did look a decent player when he played but he was always injured - or was he ?
  17. I’ve said it before but 90% of the players who’ve signed recently at Rovers only come here because nobody else is interested. The minute it becomes a two or three horse race it’s over.
  18. More shuffling of the deck chairs on the Titanic.
  19. Sandy Stewart - My Colouring Book
  20. The Nerves - Hanging On The Telephone
  21. Yeah, he’s obviously got pace, appears to like a tackle and he gets a great bend on those left wing crosses. I remember watching Pickering’s highlights film before he signed and I don’t think he made one tackle ! Incidentally the Motherwell forwards on the end of those crosses are hopeless.
  22. The Young Rascals - Good, Good Lovin’
  23. To anybody who has not watched the extended interview with Steven Warnock I can really recommend it. The bit were he’s discussing the shenanigans at Leeds under that new owner will ring bells for us at Rovers. The downscaling of resources etc. The bit that shocked me the most was the revelation that the Walker Trust forced through the sale of Santa Cruz, Warnock and another player who’s name I forget ( might be Matt Derbyshire ) to make the books look healthier prior to the sale of the club to the Chicken Chokers !
  24. They’re only doing what the Chicken Chokers have been doing for years. Putting the clubs history in the bin.
