  1. Good to see three players wanted to take it though. I think Travis made the right call. Cantwell has the job now. Looking at those highlights again his delivery of free kicks and corners is much better. He was regularly getting the ball in the danger areas. On another point that chance Beck missed from the rebounding header looks worse. The classic case of a predominantly left footed player trying to make what should have been a right footed shot into a left foot shot. I like Beck a lot though, he’s aggressive at all times. He gave Gnonto a good quietener when he introduced him to the advertising boards.
  2. The way we play that striker would have to be top class. One playing up front against two is a arse kicking job if ever I saw one. I did a bit of that as a player and to give you Blairism, what you need is “ Service, Service, Service “ and whoever plays up front at the moment is going to struggle a bit.
  3. On another day that pass Pears gave to Gnonto ends up in the back of the net and we’d have been really up against it then. I still haven’t seen him make a save that was out of the ordinary.
  4. We’ve got a pretty tight unit at the moment. No big egos. I’d like it to stay that way.
  5. Just got back from the pub. What a great day to be a Rovers fan. As long as we can out enthuse opponents I’ll be happy. We out enthused a better team today. That’s what got us the three points - desire and will to win. I’ll give them all an 8, nobody got carried and every player contributed at some point. Eustace has made us hard to beat and hard to play against. All the spaces are filled and there are hardly any gaps to be exploited . The back 4-5 were great especially the centre halves. We should have scored more than 1 to be honest. If I could have picked one player to be on the end of the Cantwell chance it would have been Cantwell. Shame he put it wide. Having said that he put a great penalty away. They don’t stop the ones that hit the side netting even if they guess right.
  6. Back in the day I used to bang on about our opponents constantly having free shots at our goal from around our “ D” . It doesn’t happen now and I think I know why. Could it be that little guy wearing No 6?
  7. I wouldn’t say nothing but it’s not a lot. Interesting to see Leeds attacking the Brittain - Dolan flank constantly in the second half. They knew the other flank was sewn up.
  8. Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town. At 1-30 today !
  9. I’d like to see that team given a go. I think it plays to our strengths. Somehow I think it’ll be business as usual though.
  10. It was a bit like the Bothroyd one at Norwich.
  11. Cisse started that and got clean away with it. Toddy should have chinned him as well.
  12. How could I forget Andy Todd, he’d be in there.
  13. I don’t think Duru is ready for holding down a place in the first team. A loan would do him good.
  14. I was just thinking about the passing of the late John MacNamee, the Rovers centre half in the early to mid 1970’s. My team from my early days to today. Adam Blacklaw Jim Branaghan , John MacNamee, Colin Hendry, John Bray David Batty, Aaron Mokoena, Ken Knighton David Speedie, Alan Shearer, Roy Vernon. Have I missed any out ?
  15. I think he’s got potential.
  16. He changed the attitude on the pitch at Ewood. No more feeling sorry for ourselves that we weren’t being allowed to play our football. He showed us you have to be prepared to fight for the right to play your football. You still do ! Nobody took liberties with us once he arrived. Any chance of a minutes applause tomorrow ? Somehow I doubt it. Thanks for the memories big fella
  17. The Choir - It’s Cold Outside
  18. Top player. I remember a game were he played left side of midfield to accommodate Sherwood in a midfield 4 and he was MOM. He was a better player than Sherwood as the 42 caps would indicate.
  19. That’s probably why he got 42 caps for England.
  20. Yeah, Ken was a real player. One of my favourites. He had a good engine, could beat people, he was a ferocious tackler and he had that tremendous shot. Plus he was a natural captain. We were doomed when we sold him to Hull.
  21. Mm, not really. Ken was more of the driving forward from midfield style player. More like the role Travis is playing at the moment. He also had a tremendous left foot shot and scored several goals. How about David Batty ? Aaron Mokoena ?
  22. Cannibal And The Headhunters - Land Of A Thousand Dances
  23. If they sell him now they’re selling at the wrong time. Makes you wonder if they think the groin injury will be long standing and hard to treat.
