  1. I must have watched the incident 10 times and I still can’t figure out how he missed his shot.
  2. He’s not a bad as Mowbray was as an interviewee. He was miserable even when we were winning.
  3. Yes that’s true. They are very close. They also have a great statue of “ Desperate Dan” in the town centre.
  4. His temperament worries me, he seems to have a very short fuse.
  5. OGS ? Whatever next. Football is mad. Jonathan Wilson has a good article in today’s “ Sunday Observer “ about the goings on at United. The guys buying into clubs these days have more money than sense.
  6. There was something about him I took to right away. He wasn’t flash and he was obviously here to do a survival job. With the way his first priority was to sort out the defence I could see a bit of the young Big Sam in him. We were at the point of needing to score 3 goals to get a draw when he came in.
  7. Taxi for O’Neil at Wolves.
  8. There have been rumours linking Markanday with Stockport.
  9. There was a time when a club like Wolves would take a gamble on a relatively un proved at top level manager like Eustace. Newcastle did it with Gordon Lee, Sheff Utd did it with Ken Furphy and Everton did it with Howard Kendall. However times have changed and I suspect Wolves will be looking abroad as per usual.
  10. How far is Wharton off returning ? Anybody know ?
  11. Looking on from the outside it seems that Eustace has been successful in creating a really strong team ethic. A player may not be starting today but they are just as important as the 11 that will be starting and at some point they will be called upon to play a significant role in the future. No “ Us and Them “ mentality that can emerge when players aren’t being kept in the+loop.
  12. When you look at what he’s got to work with it’s a terrific achievement. Unfortunately it won’t be going un noticed by clubs further up the food chain. Shades of Ken Furphy, Jim Iley, Gordon Lee, Howard Kendall etc. Back in the day when we had a succession of up and coming top managers.
  13. If we do get significant reinforcements in January they need to be the sort of players that buy into our recently re-discovered work ethic. Those of us with really long memories will recall Man City running away with the league and buying Rodney Marsh as “ the last piece of the jig saw “. Marsh was top class but by the time they’d assimilated him into their way of playing it was too late and the league title was gone.
  14. He’s doing well but he’s not tearing the league up. I think he’ll stay until the summer at least.
  15. He’s at Las Palmas at the moment. I can’t see him swapping that for Ewood Park.
  16. If only Salah was playing for Rovers.
  17. Ohashi put the ball on a plate for big Mak for his second “ assist “.
  18. Regarding ACD, I’m still not a fan of predominently left footed players out on the right. They want to come inside all the time and it compresses play. ACD reminded me a bit of Scott Sellars but Scotty played on his correct wing.
  19. If you can’t put chances like the one today away what can you score from ?
  20. Rev’s got to have a go at somebody now Gally’s gone.
  21. Really good first half performance, not so good second half. We stopped respecting possession and started being too clever on the ball. Scores - Peers, 7, he had good game today. For all Luton’s huff and puff he didn’t have a lot to do apart from that double save. JRC, 7, steady performance. Didn’t do much wrong and he got forward well in the first half. Hyam, 8, rocky steady and back to the form that got him into the Scotland squad. Batth, 8, what a difference he’s made. Stood up to Luton’s big guys all game. Pickering, 7, did pretty well after that early booking. Unlucky with the back heel. ACD, 7, great first half, vanished in the second half. Travis, 9, played like a real captain today. He’s our talisman. The beating heart of the team. Tronstad, 8, the blotting paper man, just soaks everything up. Beck, 7, got forward well for the goal in what is not his best position. Ohashi, 8, never stopped running, made the Beck goal and caused the Luton red Gueye, 7, a really strange player. Missed an absolute sitter of a chance but generally played quite well. He’s alway playing on the edge. Goes offside too easily and gets wound up too easily. Subs Hedges, 6, hardly in the game for the last 15-20 minutes Buckley 6, ditto. Leanard, 6, missed a good chance right at the death. I wasn’t impressed with the ref. There was one bad tackle in the whole game and how many players did he book ?
  22. Big Dee Irwin - Swinging On A Star
  23. He’d have Wharton playing in the Cantwell role, further up the pitch. Travis, Tronstad, Wharton. Best central midfield in the Division.
  24. The saddest thing for me was seeing an ageing Bryan Douglas come on as a sub and being unable to influence the game in any way. At one time he would have run City ragged. On the other team you had the emergence of the new style of midfield player in Colin Bell. He was running the show. Bryan was a ball player, Bell was an athlete. Stuart Metcalfe was our outstanding player, he gave Glyn Pardoe a bit of a chasing.
