He's signed his share of flops lately Merc. Gibson, Vydra, Lennon, Brady, Hart, that's just off the top of my head. -

Can he tell us which players on current form actually deserve to be playing for Blackburn Rovers first team ? Because I can't think of many. -

I agree regarding a lot of Dyche's recent signings. He did well at first but after that he's signed his share of flops. That's what happens when you're always looking out for bargains. You can get lucky but most of the time you are signing players no better that what you already have. -

I watched that video that Chaddy posted earlier regarding our new enhanced training methods. It all looks very slick and well thought out but as soon as we take to the field there is absolutely no evidence in our play that any of it is working. I'm not a stick in the mud but there seemed to be a lot of theoretical work and gym work but I didn't see much evidence of us actually playing full size games. -
Yes, he'd an immediate impact, if only coming off the bench. Then you think of all the other signings that have just induced a feeling of " He's pretty ordinary ".
-
When are we going to sign a player that actually gets you out of your seat the first time you see him play ? I remember watching Bohinen for the first time and thinking " What a player " ditto Berkovic. Going back before those two, seeing Alan Wright for the first time and thinking before the game " Bloody hell, he's tiny ". 90 minutes later thinking " That's what I call a left full back ". Several of Mowbray's signings have come with fairly big reputations and they've not lived up to them. So far Holtby is one of them.

Now that's the situation you want to be in - Power without responsibility.

For a really big guy I thought he didn't use his size like he should have done. I got the feeling he was a lightweight when it came to putting himself about. You need let your opponents know that they're in for a busy afternoon, age shouldn't really come in to it. Somebody 6' 4" should be dominating his immediate opponents in the air and apart from jumping with much shorter guys he never did. -
What does " passing to feet " exactly mean ? Most of the time you need it passed so you can take it your stride. Being passed straight at you means you have to stand still and wait for the ball to arrive. Sometimes you need the ball passed yards in front of you so you can run onto the ball at full sprint. The run the young full back made in the Rochdale game is a classic example. It was passed many yards down the wing in front of him so he could use his pace to the maximum. From what I've seen at Rovers a lot of the time a player stood still passes to another player stood still who recycles the ball to a third player who's also stood still. That's " passing to feet " but it normally ends with us losing possession.

He should have been aware of Gallagher's lack of progression before he re-signed him. That's a really lame excuse. -
The day you let idiots like the Chicken Chokers decide who to sign is the day you clear your desk and say your goodbyes. Some good advice I was given as a young man - " Never, ever, accept a situation where you have responsibility without power ".

He's been injured a lot though in recent years. We can't afford another crock. -

I watched Bolton a bit then. When Big Sam had Okocha and Djorkaeff playing up with Davies and Nolan running beyond Davies in a sort poor mans Frank Lampard role. It was a very effective system that lots of teams found it hard to play against. The usual suspects on here slated Bolton's style of play then but they weren't as one dimensional as people made out. We've just lost our " Okocha " in Dack, we haven't got a Djorkaeff and our central midfield players rarely get beyond the strikers. If we had maybe Gallagher could do a job for us. -

To put it more simply - Do you have faith that Mowbray can even keep us in this division in the medium term ? Hand on heart I haven't. -

I was at the Rochdale game yesterday. There were a few similar " coming together " type incidents were the ref gave a freekick. Funnily enough they were usually given to Newcastle. I hadn't seen a Premier League team in the flesh for a while and I was amazed how much Premier League teams treat football as a non contact sport these days.. The slightest touch and down they went, nearly always followed by being given a free kick. Get into a tricky situation, just fall over, 90% of the time you'll get a free kick in your favour. -
Yes, I understood that.

The alarm bells were ringing for me regarding the Gallagher signing when I had a look at what he'd done since leaving Ewood. It doesn't amount to much at all. I said at the time there must be better players out there for £5 million. The best we could expect from him in the future is to turn him into a Kevin Davies at Bolton style striker. One who doesn't score a lot of goals himself but creates chaos that other players can take advantage of. I can't see that happening under the current management team. -
If he's going to play regularly it needs to be somewhere else. We can't keep playing with 10 players.

He's lightening quick for a start. He's got a good engine- gets up and down the wing without too much trouble. End to end runs are no problem. He can pick a pass and he gives it nice and early, rarely gets caught in possession, reads the game well for a young player. Two decent feet, Most of all he wants to play and he wants to take the game to the opposition all the time. Very enthusiastic lad with a good attitude. Very bright and level headed off the pitch apparently. Downside is he's not very tall although he does his best in aerial challenges. He's been out of the team lately because he was being asked to do too much at such a young age but the rest had obviously worked wonders for him today. Before we get too excited United are in for him apparently. -

Southampton's youth system had a really good reputation so it's surprising he seems so lacking in finishing know how. He seems to have gone backwards in this respect since he was here previously. He's definitely turned into a blunt instrument at the moment. I read an article by that striker for the England women's team that was scoring all the goals in the last World Cup. Previously she was running all over the shop with out much success. The coaching staff told here never to stray beyond an area of two imaginary lines equal to the edge of the penalty area and not to run around quite as much, wait for the ball to come to her more instead of chasing play etc. All of a sudden she couldn't stop scoring.
