  1. Tall, slim and agile. What I liked about him was in the game I was at was his sense of danger. Sunderland we're bombarding the opposition and he hadn't had anything much to do. All of a sudden a ball was crossed in by the opposition and the Sunderland centre half miss headed the ball completely. it was heading to drop in right under the cross bar. He was already on his toes and he moved backwards really quickly and then flung himself backwards to claw the ball out from under bar. It was a really top class save and he'd been stood watching the game for 10 minutes. He looked very competent and calm, nicely unhurried in his approach to the game.
  2. I've seen him play. I rate him.
  3. I can't stand divers, no matter what team they play for. It's cheating, pure and simple. I watched that Flamengo v River Plate Final a while ago. If that had have been refereed by a British ref it would have ended up 8 a side. No wonder none of our guys ever get the big World Cup games anymore.
  4. Or on " A Question Of Sport " in the what happens next slot.
  5. Without much success. Not a mark on Travis's sock that I could see.
  6. He was worth the admission fee on his own back in the day. A true Rovers legend.
  7. Yes, he took that very well. That's the sort of through ball strikers need. Give him something to gallop on to.
  8. That was embarassing. Probably not even a free kick when I was playing. Tosin overplayed the pass and Travis dived in to get the ball back. Their guy thought about a tackle and then pulled back. Travis started rolling around like he'd broken his leg. The players and officials are killing the game. Message to referees - when players are seriously injured they don't roll around, you lie very, very still. I suppose it makes up for Bennett getting the early bath for an equally innocuous " foul " against Huddersfield.
  9. It's becoming a non contact sport. I wouldn't have made it to half time these days. Great win though.
  10. The article is actually in this mornings dead tree " Guardian ". The photo accompanying the article is a hoot. A full length photo of Tosin in going out on the town garb. You'd think with all his money he'd have a full length mirror in his house. As my mum used to say " All his taste must be in his mouth ". I shudder to think what his place is like. An interview with Tina Turner comes to mind. Afterwards the guy who interviewed her at home said " I didn't realise you could spend a million dollars in Woolworths ".
  11. Irrespective of wether you think that individuals have improved or not, even the dogs in the street know that as a team we are dog shit to watch most of the time.
  12. Short and not so sweet. Obvious;ly following my mum's advice of " If you can't say anything good about Rovers, don't say anything at all ". Let's hope you've a win to write about next week.
  13. He never looked remotely good enough, a very strange signing indeed.
  14. That's more reason to be signing a replacement, especially now the player who was originally signed as Dack's back up, Gladwin, has left the club.
  15. Maybe the Chicken Chokers have seen the two magic beans he bought and they've decided that enough is enough.
  16. The manager you are defending has been here 3 years and yet we still need a complete new defensive unit in your estimation. As far as Gallagher is concerned I wouldn't have signed him because I wasn't particularly impressed with him the first time around and he's gone backwards since then. Given that he is here somebody needs to play him some videos of Kevin Davies at Bolton and tell him " Watch these, that's how I want you to play, Forget playing out wide, get in the box and knock people about. If you can't adapt your game and play like that, you're not much use to me ". He'll never be a prolific goal scorer but he could become a useful blunt instrument. Having said that if we could get rid of him and re-coup even half of what we paid for him I'd sell him tomorrow.
  17. Their medical staff won't have had the practice our lot have.
  18. Don't know much about Madine but Brererton cost £7 million 18 months ago, does that make him a good signing ?
  19. He was, trouble is we were the ones that got stolen from !
  20. The Dingles were sniffing around Judge also at that time, they seem to have a thing for Brentford players
  21. I liked Judge, he reminded me of Johnny Price. I thought he never got a real chance at Rovers. He was heading for a big move when he broke his leg at Brentford. It was a bad break and I don't think he's ever got back to where he was. I'd have had him back before the injury but not now. That ship has sailed. If we keep signing 3rd division players we'll get 3rd division football.
  22. I took a girlfriend to watch Rochdale at Spotland many years ago. After the usual pre match kick about and shooting in practice that they did then they kicked off. They'd been playing about 15 minutes when she turned to me and said - " Have they started yet ? "
  23. How I remember it was we sold Byrom to part fund the purchase of Gilliver. I saw Gilliver playing for Huddersfield the season before we signed him and before he did his disc. He was going to be a top player. The back injury really handicapped him, especially after he had the operation. I had a similar disc problem and within an hour of playing I would be stiff as a board and walking like an old man. I'd just get pain free in time to do it all over again the following week.
