  1. O'Sullivan taken off after half an hour at Rochdale. He'd had the hard word from the ref and was already on a yellow !
  2. Just watched the England v Scotland kick and clap game in the pub. How bad are England ? Their decision making is atrocious. They invent new ways to bomb tries every time I see them. When you pass the ball that far forward even a rugby union official thinks it's forward then you've got to be a moron.
  3. I remember being stood just where the speccies are giving Skerrett some grief one day. We were playing Keigthly and the two Fairbank brothers were punching every Hornets player in sight. Eventually the ref lost patience with them and sent one of them off. He was walking off just like Skerrett with the fans stood by the railings slagging him off.One of the speccies was a young workmate of mine. He was really giving it large to Fairbank from what he assumed was a safe height behind the railings. All of a sudden Fairbank ran up to the railing and leapt about 8ft off the ground and grabbed hold of the railings to come face to face my young pal. He absolutely @#/? himself and ran away through the crowd ! It was really funny and I never let him live that down. Martin was a good player for Hornets and an excellent coach later on. We played some great rugby while he was at Hornets. He brought Danny Sculthorpe to the club and he was brilliant for Hornets, he never reached his real potential mainly due to illness and injury.
  4. Mm, my memory isn't what is was - did Skerrett and Hall later play in the same team together ? If you see the video, you could have counted a hundred over Hall and he wouldn't have beaten the count. No play acting there.
  5. Yeah you're right . I was looked at some old film on YouTube yesterday and it had the incident with Sampson were he broke Skerrett's jaw leading with his elbow. Really cheap shot, and Sampson got clean away with it. The referee's eyes were painted on. The next time Sampson carries the ball in is interesting through ! There's another video clip of a Hornets v Wigan game were Skerrett sparked totally sparked out an Hornets player at a scrum with a right hook. He got his marching order for that. I can't recognise the Hornets player but my pal tells me the victim was Martin Hall of all people ! I must have been there but I have no memory of the incident at all.
  6. I was on another football site the other day and the subject was bad tackles. They showed one from Rugby League, Cas versus Wigan a year or two back. It showed Kelvin Skerrett come in as third " tackler " and absolutely poleaxe the Cas player on the ground. The Cas guy doing the commentary went ballistic, it's really funny. I seem to have a dim memory of Dean Sampson doing Neil Cowie in another Cas v Wigan game. Is there a history of bad blood between the clubs ?
  7. Yeah " Little Red Corvette " . That's the one, great record. I always look through your recently played list matey You've got good taste. A couple I'm playing at the moment - Evie Sands - " Picture Me Gone " and The Lafayettes " Life's Too Short ".
  8. I'm not a fan but " Purple Rain " was good. He did a couple more that I thought were good but I can't remember so early in the day, " 1999 "was one, can't think of the other.
  9. They got the comma in the wrong place matey, didn't you notice ?
  10. Yeah, Bradford seem to be on a slippery slope to oblivion.
  11. Yeah, according to Mrs Shoelaces who went. She's a real die hard who goes to every game. One season she went to every " A " team game as well, home and away. Imagine Whitehaven " A" v Hornets " A ". They have a tie up with the University now and the ground has been re-named apparently.
  12. Yeah I agree. Our guys run their blood to water for about £ 250 a week winning pay. Our captain couldn't train all the week before last because he'd got a knee in the ribs previously. He was touch and go to play all week but put his hand up to play and came out and was M-O-M. Any RL player is an hero for me.
  13. My lot had a great win as well, 42-16 at North Wales Crusaders. I'm kicking myself that I didn't go. We'd have a chance of staying in this division but five teams get relegated at the end of the season !
  14. You need a broken screw extractor. You drill a hole down the centre of the broken screw. Tap in the screw extractor with a small hammer. Then CAREFULLY wind out the broken screw. The screw extractor has a coarse left hand thread so it bites into the broken screw. DO NOT break the screw extractor. They're hardened so they won't drill out.Where do you live ? Bring it over to Rochdale and I'll get it out for you. I've never failed yet in nearly 50 years of that sort of work. Am I right in saying one screw is right handed and the other left handed on bike cranks or did I imagine that ?
  15. Cyclists riding on the pavement do my head in. I'm just waiting to see one on a tandem with a dog on the back seat.
  16. I was unconvinced about the drop goal, like you I thought from one view it looked in and from the other view it looked out. If you thought that draw was odd you should have seen the draw years ago when one of the old guys performing the draw dropped a ball on the floor and pretended nothing had happened ! They were near the end of the draw so they kept on going, all the time trying to guess which ball was missing. It was hilarious. They had to re do the draw the following day because of the outcry. Only in Rugby League.
  17. Are we referring to the Danny Brough drop goal ? I only saw it on TV once but I wasn't convinced it was between the sticks. I went to Hornets v Leigh. A brilliant old fashioned cup tie. Hornets contrived to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but we played really well. We showed tons of heart and spirit, that's all I ask.
  18. I never have the dough balls, I just don't fancy them. I had Pizza Marinari, very nice. Piccolino's is good but a bit harder to get in if you haven't booked.
  19. Mrs Shoelaces and myself went to " Croma " in central Manchester last night. Nothing fancy, just a nice Italian restaurant, very prompt service and an excellent pizza. The price was reasonable.
  20. Great venue ( The Band On The Wall ), great musicians and a tremendous front woman. However The gig itself was ultimately disappointing for me. The band played all original numbers which most of the audience weren't familiar with. If you're a Soul band, for me doing all your own stuff is a musical version of trying to re-invent the wheel.
  21. I'm going to The Band On The Wall in Manchester on Saturday to see a band called " The Excitements ". If you've seen early film of The Ike and Tina Turner roadshow, they're in that style.
  22. I've just watched the England v Wales game. Not a bad match. Of course you never really beat Wales, You just score more points than them. One or two players out there would make great League players, the two full backs for a start.
