  1. A fully fit Chapman is dynamite and I'd sign him tomorrow but I have concerns about the amount of muscle injuries he has.
  2. Yeah but who was he jumping against ? Nobody. Anybody can jump for a header unopposed. He's not so good jumping with defenders around him. Incidentally how did we get a 1-1 out of that game ? Bristol ran us ragged before we scored.
  3. I think he always have muscle problems until he learns how to use his body more wisely. I remember him coming on at Oldham as a sub. He'd only just come on when he got the ball out on the wing about 70 yards from goal. The Oldham full back was about 7 or 8 yards away and waiting for him. Chapman just booted the ball up the wing and set off in a foot race with the full back ! Well he isn't Gareth Bale and the full back was no slouch so Chapman got slide tackled into touch. I just though ,' You've no brains son, take it nearer to the full back, then have a foot race '.
  4. I'm not a big fan of Gallagher but he would be an improvement on Brereton. He's not Danny Graham Mk 2 any more than Brereton is. He hasn't got the physicality needed for that role and he's another 6 ft 2 in player that jumps about 5ft 10 in.
  5. Something happens to Graham and we're snookered. We need a player to vie with Graham for the strikers shirt now, if fact we needed one in summer but we signed Armstrong and Brereton instead. It's like Geoff Boycott used to say - ' The score looks ok now but what happens if we lose two quick wickets ? '
  6. When he played centrally for us he was normally pretty quiet and ineffectual.
  7. My initial thought was the goalkeeper may have got there first. I've played it back several times and I'm not convinced he would have got to the ball first now.
  8. Just catching up on todays paper. Ralph Hasenhuttl has said he will trim the squad before seeking signings in January. ' At first I think the squad is very big, so we have a lot of positions were we have too many players and maybe one or the other is leaving us and we bring something new. We might be able to get Reed after all if we box clever.
  9. I would have thought getting to play against 10 men for 70 minutes is a fair amount of luck irrespective of the sending off being justified or not.
  10. We can't play with wingers, too many weak links in the rest of the team.
  11. It's this bloody old lap top Stuart, it's got a mind of it's own. Hopefully Father Christmas will bring me a new one.
  12. By and large results have been better than performances but you could have said that about last season also.
  13. A few of us mentioned that when some of our fans were jumping up and down when we signed him in the summer. No names no pack drill.
  14. I would have taken a 1-1 all day long at 3-00 pm but that feels like a defeat.
  15. Chapman and Bauer have both been out most of the season injured. With Gladwin and Davenport permanently occupying our two treatment tables we haven't room for any more passengers.
  16. Wickham looked like being a good striker but unfortunately he's made of glass. He misses more games than he plays.
  17. I think he played in the same Spurs youth team as Noel Brotherston.
  18. Me too, that would be us over achieving in my opinion. Good close season and we could have a proper go next time.
  19. I didn't see a lot of him at Rovers. In the game at Oldham he was playing against a poor Rovers side in the same area of the pitch as Whittingham was occupying. He didn't get pushed of the ball much that day but like I said he had a point to prove.
  20. I'd take a draw now. We played Wednesday at a good time last week. I'm not getting carried away. If we play as well tomorrow I'll be over the moon.
  21. I wasn't expecting the play offs this season. Next season maybe. Lets not try to run before we can walk.
  22. You're right on both counts. Paul Mariner who later played as a striker for England played for Plymouth that day. One of the best games ever seen at Ewood Park. It was a titanic struggle with lots of quality football played. Bobby kept us afloat in the bad old days when we were on our uppers. Die hard Rovers fans will have fond memories of him.
  23. He ran the show against us at Oldham last season. He looked a player that day. Maybe he can only raise his game when he has a point to prove.
  24. Players are always right behind the manager until the day he gets sacked. Not just at Rovers but at every club. It's the nature of the beast. They all look after No1. Look at the managers we've had since Big Sam, how many players actually came out and criticised them ? They only time they complain is when they're not getting selected for the team.
  25. There's much less heavy tackling now JIm. In the old day a broken leg was quite a regular occurrence. Every team would have a victim during the season. There were as many broken legs then as there are cruciate injuries today. I'm not a big fan of way referees have clamped down on physical play but they can take credit for the lack of broken leg style injuries. I broke my right leg twice and what really shook me was how easily it happens.
