I'd add to that players being put into systems that don't suit their skill set. What separates the clubs pushing for promotion in this league from the also rans is being smart in the transfer market. That doesn't just mean spending big, it means getting the pieces that actually fit the spaces in the jigsaw.

I think Palmer was brought in just in case anything happened to Dack. I'd give Rodwell another season if he wants one. Armstrong isn't a winger and I can't see up playing him in his best position which is alongside a target man. We don't even try this when we're playing catch up football. Chapman is a gamble albeit not an expensive one. The Brereton signing is a complete mystery to me, even the much mocked John O'Mara got 12 goals for us.
