He played up front with Beattie when Duff was on the left wing. -

Thomas isn't the guy I'm thinking of. I remember Thomas scoring against Bolton on his Premier League debut. It was downhill after that. The lad I'm thinking of was called Cassin I think. -

He's the left winger in my Rovers all time 11. Absolutely top class at both Club and International level. I first saw him play for the Youth Team and I wasn't massively impressed. James Beattie and a lad playing number 10 ( Graeme Cassin ? ) were much more impressive. -

Not many on the Rochdale fans board are impressed with him. Some want him sent back to Rovers already. -

If he's not doing it for Hilly he may have to bench the lad. He needs to shape up soon. -

It's a bit disappointing he's not been able to impress even playing at a lower level. Hill won't be able to keep playing him if he's not contributing. -

O'Sullivan subbed again at Rochdale. This time after about 60 odd minutes. Questions being asked on their board about his fitness. Rochdale lost 0-1. -
Yeah that was another one, unbelievable.

Pairing him up with Dwight Yorke was his downfall.

American Challenge Cup 1964

We got invited when we battered West Ham away 8-2. I think West Ham had either won it or done really well the previous year. -
Anybody old enough to have seen England v Poland World Cup game at Wembley in 1973 ? That game is the nearest thing I've seen to it. Could have won by 6 or 7 goals easily. Rovers made more good chances in that game than we have all season up to now.

O'Sullivan taken off after half an hour at Rochdale. He'd had the hard word from the ref and was already on a yellow ! -

Just watched the England v Scotland kick and clap game in the pub. How bad are England ? Their decision making is atrocious. They invent new ways to bomb tries every time I see them. When you pass the ball that far forward even a rugby union official thinks it's forward then you've got to be a moron. -

I remember being stood just where the speccies are giving Skerrett some grief one day. We were playing Keigthly and the two Fairbank brothers were punching every Hornets player in sight. Eventually the ref lost patience with them and sent one of them off. He was walking off just like Skerrett with the fans stood by the railings slagging him off.One of the speccies was a young workmate of mine. He was really giving it large to Fairbank from what he assumed was a safe height behind the railings. All of a sudden Fairbank ran up to the railing and leapt about 8ft off the ground and grabbed hold of the railings to come face to face my young pal. He absolutely @#/? himself and ran away through the crowd ! It was really funny and I never let him live that down. Martin was a good player for Hornets and an excellent coach later on. We played some great rugby while he was at Hornets. He brought Danny Sculthorpe to the club and he was brilliant for Hornets, he never reached his real potential mainly due to illness and injury. -

Mm, my memory isn't what is was - did Skerrett and Hall later play in the same team together ? If you see the video, you could have counted a hundred over Hall and he wouldn't have beaten the count. No play acting there. -

Yeah you're right . I was looked at some old film on YouTube yesterday and it had the incident with Sampson were he broke Skerrett's jaw leading with his elbow. Really cheap shot, and Sampson got clean away with it. The referee's eyes were painted on. The next time Sampson carries the ball in is interesting through ! There's another video clip of a Hornets v Wigan game were Skerrett sparked totally sparked out an Hornets player at a scrum with a right hook. He got his marching order for that. I can't recognise the Hornets player but my pal tells me the victim was Martin Hall of all people ! I must have been there but I have no memory of the incident at all. -

I was on another football site the other day and the subject was bad tackles. They showed one from Rugby League, Cas versus Wigan a year or two back. It showed Kelvin Skerrett come in as third " tackler " and absolutely poleaxe the Cas player on the ground. The Cas guy doing the commentary went ballistic, it's really funny. I seem to have a dim memory of Dean Sampson doing Neil Cowie in another Cas v Wigan game. Is there a history of bad blood between the clubs ? -
Yeah " Little Red Corvette " . That's the one, great record. I always look through your recently played list matey You've got good taste. A couple I'm playing at the moment - Evie Sands - " Picture Me Gone " and The Lafayettes " Life's Too Short ".
-
I'm not a fan but " Purple Rain " was good. He did a couple more that I thought were good but I can't remember so early in the day, " 1999 "was one, can't think of the other.

Yeah, according to Mrs Shoelaces who went. She's a real die hard who goes to every game. One season she went to every " A " team game as well, home and away. Imagine Whitehaven " A" v Hornets " A ". They have a tie up with the University now and the ground has been re-named apparently.
