That’s probably why he got 42 caps for England. -

Yeah, Ken was a real player. One of my favourites. He had a good engine, could beat people, he was a ferocious tackler and he had that tremendous shot. Plus he was a natural captain. We were doomed when we sold him to Hull. -

Mm, not really. Ken was more of the driving forward from midfield style player. More like the role Travis is playing at the moment. He also had a tremendous left foot shot and scored several goals. How about David Batty ? Aaron Mokoena ? -

If they sell him now they’re selling at the wrong time. Makes you wonder if they think the groin injury will be long standing and hard to treat. -

Just watching the highlights back - that was a fantastic ball from Ohashi to Dolan early on to put Dolan away. He receives a diagonal ball from Hedges and instantly slid it into space out wide for Dolan to run on to. -

The thing I like about that is we still have 7 players in or around the penalty area. -
Yeah, that was poor. He was just stood there waiting instead of being aware of what was happening around him.

There’s a story on the BBC site that Arsenal are in talks with Palace with a view to buying Adam for £ 54 million.. Have we got a sell on ? -

A great 3 points that I wasn’t expecting. That’s a red card all day long if it’s an away player committing the foul. Home town plus early in the game decision. I was always taught - “ Get the quietner in as early as you can “. The Dolan header WTF ? My 10 year old granddaughter would have done better. That and the delayed pass that cost us a goal. Why does he always need to take that extra touch ? He should have passed that a stride earlier, then Cantwell is onside. What their keeper was doing for the shot is a mystery though. Nice move for the Hyam goal but at no point was he onside. He was stood in an off side position waiting for the pass which was slightly forward. The linesman’s eyes were obviously painted on. Having said all that we look like a team that’s hard to beat again. The defence looked miles better positionally. We were filling all the spaces. However it’s a different story when we’re at home against teams who park the bus. I’d play exactly the same way on Saturday. They’ll come at us and we need to catch them on the break like we did ‘Boro. Somebody else said bring in Beck for Hedges, I’d do that. -

I remember going to Rovers v Charlton back in the 1960’s. It was a day just like this. The river at the back of the Riverside was a raging torrent. They kicked off at 3-00 but it wasn’t long before pools of standing water started to appear and passing the ball became a lottery. There was a really funny moment. Rovers were attacking the Darwen End and Mike Ferguson put in a great cross around the penalty spot. Alan Gilliver was playing up front and as he took an almighty swipe at the ball, a gust of wind came up a blew the ball away like a toy yacht. He missed the ball completely, did a pirouette, and fell into a large puddle. Everybody was laughing, even the ref. Anyway Charlton scored just before half time to make it 0-1 but the ref called it off at half time. I used to have the programme. It was pretty bedraggled and rain damaged and it was in my inside pocket !
