January Transfer Window.
Ossydave replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm putting perspective on it. People will see those stats and think he's a get to the byeline and whip one in constantly kind of player, he's not from what I've seen. He'd be crossing no nobody anyway half the time if he was.... I'm not saying they're necessarily BAD stats, he's clearly excellent on corners and free kicks, if of course you have decent players on the end of them..... -

Those assist and crosses stats are completely misleading I'm afraid. A massive chunk of them are set pieces. Yes he whips a mean corner/free kick in, but please don't go expecting a Wilcox or a Ripley! I remember in the play off final he had a decent game in terms of taking defenders on but there was no end product. I'm not completely against him coming in and will give him a chance but much like a goalkeeper he doesn't seem a priority position and not sure how much more he offers than Markanday. -

That's why I said MANY of them. Listen a coach holds circa 50 people so if full probably around what 12-15 families possibly on-board. If they all keep going then great, will it make a significant difference to our support? Absolutely not. I don't have an issue whatsoever with this taking place, but this isn't a fantastic blackburn rovers initiative, its the efforts of 1 man and its him that should get any credit. Instead you can guarantee Waggott will have his picture somewhere in the articles that follow just like he had with prayers on the pitch etc etc -

.The likes of Allardyce, Mick Mccarthy and others may find themselves struggling more these days, the game has undoubtedly moved on and there's new kids on the block. Of course there's no guarantees with the newer managers either. -

Couldn't really care less about it to be honest but agree with JHR. It's pretty much a school trip and I'd be amazed if it encourages many of the attendees to follow rovers away when there's no subsidised travel, trips to mosques or food included. -

It's frigging awful is this. I've never been so bored by watching us literally in my life I don't think. Massive respect to the fans who once again were let down by a passionless bunch of players and inept manager. -

Never seen Undav play but going off stats alone just get him in, NOW. His goals for column makes for impressive reading wherever he's played. I'm under no illusions whatsoever that we'll make the play offs but I just want to see us score a few goals FFS and provide at least some entertainment for the remainder of the season. There is also talk that WBA, Norwich, Sunderland and Millwall are interested though so take your pick which one of those he will actually join. -

We'll either win 1 nil or get twatted again 4 nil, who knows really. I'm not looking forward to it regardless and to be quite honest I'm wondering where my motivation is coming from for the remainder of the season. Other teams fans will scratch their heads as to why fans of a team that are still (somehow) top 6 feel this way. Pretty sure the majority of us feel this way though. I guess that yeah it could be worse, for example Blackpool are tied down to Appleton on a 4 year deal and can't afford to get rid... West Brom, Millwall, Luton, Norwich all queued up to leapfrog us and our pathetic goal difference gives them an additional leg up. -
You’ve lost that loving feeling?
Ossydave replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I simply feel as though I'm stuck in an abusive relationship with Rovers. Almost all I get from them is disappointment and anger, but I can't walk away from it all. I suppose deep down I KNOW it could be better, eventually, but when that might be nobody knows. It's mainly a social event for me these days too, love my mates and we still manage to have some cracking days out regardless - the football is effectively just a minor part of the day..... Burnley and Preston games really knocked the stuffing out of me this season, being honest I'm still not over either of them. What's perfectly clear is neither game affected the players like it did me though. The sad thing is I certainly don't see things changing any time soon on the pitch unless we pull 3 or 4 cracking signings off in the next few weeks. -

Strongly disagree He'll play premier league football soon, and THAT is why he's a pussy. Football is a soft man's game now at the top flight especially. -

I've had fractured skulls, dislocated shoulders and multiple scars all over, would I change anything? Absolutely not, I still think I'd Marshall our midfield at 41. And that is exactly what this team needs. -

I'd do time myself for a hard bastard like Todd in this team, maybe it's because I played midfield myself but I absolutely love an enforcer in there. I know he was a defender but still. -

Morton consistently backs out of challenges or literally turns his back on them. Now I think Morton is a decent player, and its probably an age thing to be fair, but midfielders in this team should be fully committed to tackling. They aren't, and we keep getting twatted. -

Absolutely, I wanted to jump through the screen and throw a tackle in. Colin Hendry would probably cry watching us yesterday. -

For Rathbones goal, as good as it was to be fair, there must have been 3 maybe 4 players stood watching. When I played football I'd never, ever let a player shoot from that distance if I had the physical means to stop it. -

We're near the bottom of the table with regards to discipline, although that's largely due to the silly red cards, 54 yellows and 2 red. -

Bang on. I've not been entertained all season. If its getting results OK it's acceptable. If you're getting hammered off teams who have about 50p to spend it's unacceptable. -

It's not just losing games of football, we're not suffering narrow, unlucky defeats. We've now been obliterated this season by Burnley, Preston, Sheff Utd, Reading and now Rotherham, read that back again and tell me you're happy. I dare say we'll get hammered many more times yet and one will 100% be at Ewood against our closest rivals. It will be hell. I keep saying this, I can take losing games of football. Even if we'd lost today to a last minute Rotherham goal I'd have been disappointed, but not feeling utter rage towards the manager and the gutless team that I am now. I can't take much more and I'm amazed some people are still on board with this 'project'. -

79% possession second half and 1 shot. What the fuck are they being told to do, seriously? It's indefensible and can only pray JDT walks. -

Gregg's obviously a smart man and comes across very well in things like that. We as fans don't really see the work he's doing/has done behind closed doors. Despite him having what is it, 5 or 6 areas of responsibility, the fans will simply judge him on transfer activity, rightly or wrongly. In fairness to him, early indications are that he's sorting the glaring issue with contracts out. He joined too late to be able to sort the Brereton one out really so can't blame him on that. The last transfer window was a rush job with mixed success, so personally I'm happy to cut him some slack on that one. The current one is huge though and sets the tone for his credibility with the fans. You'll always have an element of the fan base who are unrealistic and expect daft amounts of money to be spent, they'll never be happy. There's literally no reason why someone in Gregg's position shouldn't be able to pull a few rabbits out of hats though with the resources available. -

Good following, I'd be going myself but got too much on tomorrow sadly, always a decent away day. I mean we should be winning this, and there's gonna be people out there thinking it'll be an easy game......Something you can't really ignore though is that as things stand we've lost more games than Rotherham. They'll certainly up for it based on that fact alone. Alas, 1 nil away win. -

With both Dwight Gayle and Delap to pick from Stoke seemingly had some decent options up top but neither has set the world on fire. I think Gayle may have been injured but he's still made 19 appearances with 0 return.
