v Middlesbrough (a) - 15/10/22

He scored a similar one against Boro last season I think? We really are a pain in the backside for them, we're like Wigan are to us. -

Tony will get a clap from me. We really need to break the W L W streak though, can't see any reason why we won't either. I can see a few goals here too 3-2 home win. -

Agreed, wasn't sure about the signing initially, purely because I knew little about him, but he's turned put to be a real asset. -

Ffs he got some chants about he should have stayed at the rovers, it was nothing more than a bit of banter. Good riddance too. -

Hirst has looked beyond useless he really has. That said, when the team isn't really creating chances there's only so much you can do. He hasn't come deep hunting for the ball though or trying to carve teams open, just ran about looking like a lost boy. IF we had crosses being whipped in to him, there's a chance he might look better. For now though he looks unsuited to how we want to play so you have to question why Gregg has presented him to JDT as a striking option. On a plus note folks I'm going today and we've never lost at the Riverside when I've gone which must be 5 or 6 times now. You'll have me to thank later when we bring home the points after a much better away performance 😎 -

It's impossible to believe we'll have the same game plan as vs Cardiff and Wigan, erm isn't it? There's been some poor performances and naive decisions so far under JDT, but I'm not writing him off and slitting my wrists just yet. Dack simply has to be involved for at least 45 mins or fans are going to keep voicing opinions and showing frustration, especially if we're not performing. I'd also like to see Markanday get some minutes. In the cup games and u21 games he's been decent. Hirst doesn't seem much better than Chris Brown up to now so he can't start. -

Let's hope we put in a Swansea/Blackpool type away performance rather than some of the tripe we've also served up on the road. With 2 aways on the bounce nows the time to perform. The 2 home games that follow are most certainly winnable so we could be sitting pretty at the right end of the table come November. Wigan have done a bit better than I expected and picked up some decent results, they have however got a pasting of Burnley and Cardiff under their belts at home this season. Let's hope we can perform and put our recent dreadful record at their place well and truly behind us. -

We're gonna be dogshit and lose this and be awful aren't we? 🤣 No way he's gonna pick the same team, but I'm not against Brittain getting a run out or maybe Dack or A Wharton. Even Markanday who seems to have been forgotten about. The only person who 100% should never be dropped, if fit, is S Wharton. -

He's becoming a utility player which makes it all the more baffling that TM didn't wanna use him. Unless he got caught balls deep in a lemon drizzle at half time I'm not sure why the last gaffer didn't rate him. POTS up to now for me. -

Sadly I don't think we'll be in contention for promotion. But neither were the likes of Farke or Corberan 1st season. We'll be frustrated a lot this season, we'll also be elated. I hate the word transition but.... I don't think the Mowbray journey talk is comparable to JDT personally. There's some significant differences. One was a fella after his last big pay cheque, one is a youngish manager still learning the ropes looking to further establish an already good managerial career. -

Someone wishing injury on szmodics is a new low for this board. There's getting angry and posting unjustified shite and there's being an utter twat. -

On Dack, has he ever looked like he's a bundle of energy? I would say not, BUT he's an intelligent player and can pick the right passes and pop up in the right place to score, much like he did on Tuesday. It's my main gripe with JDT so far, IMO of course, he isn't past it, nor have his legs given up on him, it's how Dack is and we should be accommodating him in the team. When one of our best players and fans favourite is being left out it means the players in his place need to impress more than ever, if they don't then frustrations will continue to grow. -
I'm going off what I was told today by ticket office staff, not sure where else I could confirm to be honest apart from Swag himself 🙁

I'd be giving Travis a 'rest' tomorrow and giving either S Wharton or Ayala the captaincy. As well as not playing particularly well lately, I've not seen much to suggest he was the right choice as captain either. We've got just over a month now to improve performances and get a decent run of form going ahead of the most important game of the season. If the win 1/lose 1 pattern continues we're obviously due a win tomorrow. Not gonna be at all easy though this, I'll go for an optimistic 2-1 win and hope their new manager bounce is a flat one. -
Haven't done so yet but inclined to join the 1875 club now..... Got the season ticket and 3 aways boxed off which would normally secure a ticket but I'm guessing it's gonna be those things AND 1875 club to get first dibs. Got folk by the bollocks really here if they don't want to miss out....

Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
Ossydave replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He's made 5 appearances, scored on his debut, yet to some he's a poor signing and waste of money, it's laughable. I'd hate to sign for us as a non blackburn fan. -

Our fanbase isn't half weird. Brereton was wrote off and sold for scrap not long ago. -
v Millwall (h) 01/10/2022
Ossydave replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Exactly what was expected against Millwall to be honest, bit would have been nice to see a better performance. Alas, we're 6th and we'd have taken that at this stage. The league is as wide open as ever. Dingle pal saying its the worst they've played this season today, will be interesting to see if we do any better at Cardiff.... -

Ossydave replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I doubt it. Looks like a few showers today but sunny from 2pm onwards. That said, I thought the last Millwall home game wouldn't get postponed too and look what happened 😳 -
I was reading the owner wanted certain players to play tonight but Arvaledze refused and consequently got fired. Why else would they have not done it during the international break? If those players have ended up playing then they ain't doing such a good job here....

Ossydave replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Seems like absolutely frigging ages since we played, I've never looked forward to playing Millwall so much in my life! Under TM we seemed to have a dreadful record following the international breaks, I do wonder what he had them doing though, I'd like to think JDT is a bit more imaginative. Highly doubt we're in for a spectacle I'm afraid. Dingle fan was telling me how they just turned up to defend and frustrate there, which we already would expect tbh. The key is quite simply to score first here, I mean we're not great when we concede first anyway this season but against a team like Millwall it's imperative. 2-0 home win Diaz penalty on 16 minutes and Dolan 78. -
v Luton Town (a) - 17/9/22
Ossydave replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Annoying but half expected I guess... It's hard to understand how the same team goes from the midweek performance to yesterday's in a matter of days, against (on paper anyway) a much weaker team. It's pretty much what every team in the division seems to be doing at present though apart from Sheff Utd. I think we're gonna have a few more months of it too I'm afraid till it settles down! Only positive I can take really is I had to turn down the offer of a ticket so didn't have to endure the journey home. -

1 nil away win leading to the usual frustration on the international break as we appear to pick some momentum up. I'm sure we're always shite the game after the internationals too 😪 -
v Watford (h) - 13/9/22 (possibly)…
Ossydave replied to rigger's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Difficult to pick faults in that performance, superb all over the park. Now let's have a bit more consistency! You do have to wonder though if some results would have been more positive with the likes of Ayala and Wharton playing. Pickering looks much more confident knowing he's got a bit of backup as well. It's definitely the formation we should adopt at weekend, bastard injuries permitting! -

Obviously playing on the counter. The 3 centre halves should offer more cover for the weaker positions (imo) at left and right WB. It could work, see how we get on first half. As a side note he doesn't seem to rate Markanday does he?
