January Transfer Window.
Ossydave replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He was clearly signed as a 'utility man', Mowbray loved players who could (in theory) cover a number of positions. The problem with that type of players is they're unlikely to excel in one particular position and the fact they're not permanent fixtures in the team makes it difficult for them to settle in properly and improve. I think he'd be a decent player for a lower half championship team if he's getting picked week in week out. -

Blimey it's a good job JRC has shaped up then, Carter looked as good has he ever has yesterday too at RB, looked a lot more mobile than when I've seen him there before. -

Looking like Dexter Lembikisa may be available on a loan, probably not a priority position now JRC is looking decent, how long is Brittain out for? -

Markanday was noticeably more intense with the pressing too. It's clearly what JDT demands and explains why Dack wasn't always featuring when most of us were crying out for him. It won't suit every player and ultimately its very demanding, on days like today you can see what he's trying to do though. I've been critical of JDT, mainly because of 2 derby thumpings but sometimes his gameplan works out. I think that's something like 12 clean sheets in competitive games, more including friendlies, which makes it all the more baffling that we've been pasted a few times. -

Not really seen much of Ipswich this season so no idea on their style of play , but if used correctly he'll probably do a job. Sadly he'll go down as absolute turd for us. -

Vale's had a bit of time out now much like JRC, hopefully the same end result and a much improved player... We play in a specific (some would say boring) way. So much so that it's difficult for a striker to just trap up for the odd game and play well. IF Ben was to leave I reckon someone else would step up to the job in hand. When Armstrong left we panicked but ended up ok. -

Both can surely do better than Wigan! Corberan allegedly wants Lewis O'brien too at WBA. Really poor career moves for both Toffolo and O'brien going to Forest although obviously can't blame them for the cash. -

To be honest it's mainly GB I'm referring to. If he's not getting results, then why is he in place. He's obviously got a few weeks yet to come up trumps but ultimately most fans are expecting a good window and rightly so. -

Probably because people get their hopes up every single window and we never get business done till the last minute. The difference this time is we have a DOF and allegedly a recruitment/scouting network in place. So yes, people are expecting results and soon. Imagine wanting people to do their well paid jobs! -

Cannon is very highly rated, obviously their plan B as they missed out on Archer. Riis has done his knee as well so they'll be very short up top. Broughton has been here what about 8 months now? The targets should have been lined up for a while now and the business done early. There are literally no excuses for a poor window here. Well, I say that but there's still the weird chain of command behind the scenes (I assume) regarding the twats in Pune rubber stamping things but surely things SHOULD be a little more straightforward with a DOF? -

Unless Greg or JDT says we're interested and then you'd change your tune and say he's a great signing and you recommend him on 13th October 2022 -

I still value the FA cup but the TV companies and powers that be sure as hell are trying to destroy it. It WAS a great chance to play a bigger team, at 3pm, on a Saturday, with the odd exception for a few televised games. We now have..... 1 game tonight at 8pm, an all prem one anyway 🥱 6 games at 12:30 tomorrow 10 at 3pm tomorrow (lucky bastards) 4 at half 5 tomorrow 1 at 6pm tomorrow 1 at 8pm tomorrow 2 at 12:30 Sunday 4 at 2pm Sunday including ours 2 at 4:30 Sunday 1 at 8pm Monday I suppose if you're an Armchair fan you'll have a few games to watch this weekend but this ridiculous format ain't for me. Alas I do hope we get through and get a better draw next round. The fringe players did fine in the league Cup apart from the Forest game. Looking forward to seeing Markanday and Adam W mainly. Will Norwich confirm Wagner as manager in time I wonder? You'd expect so which isn't ideal as they'll be more up for it now. -

Wharton was calmness on the ball personified up until recently. Seemed to struggle a bit with the whole passing out from the back malarkey which to be honest was partly down to the inept midfielders in front not coming for the ball. He'll be fine. -
The misconception that Newcastle have the most loyal fans in the world, and that they're long suffering (or were till the recent takeover). The shit ale at most grounds. I know its not specifically football, but its part and parcel of the day out for many. Rather bizarrely one of the best pints I've had this season was at the Turf! Clinton Morrison. "Who are ya" chants. "Insert name here is a shithole, I wanna go home" - GO THEN. Sky Sports trying to force womens football on us.

Tickets for Bristol City Away
Ossydave replied to Gordon Gekko's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Can't see you having an issue, it's a big old away end and don't think they usually let home fans in there so can't see why they wouldn't give us another block of tickets if required. It's a good away end too, plenty of boozing and eating options at the back of the stand, one of the best in the league IMO. -

He's made 1 appearance all season for them, not sure if he's been injured though. Was their best player against Palace when he came on. -

Elliott was a lot better than Morton, he's been struggling in the Liverpool first team though lately and fans are getting on his back. There's no chance Morton will be in their first team next season. I do think he's a decent player, just a bit soft sometimes, partly down to his age and slight frame though. When the teams playing well he embraces it and performs. When we're struggling he tends to go missing. -

Cantwell seems a bit of a loose cannon, in and out of the team this season but not always for footballing reasons according to Smith when he was there. They may be open to a bit of cash for him though with his contract being up in 6 months. -

So we were 3rd at this stage last season I think after a dogshit 0-0 against Huddersfield. Were we better than season? I would say probably yes up to now although cracks were appearing. We went on to lose another 10 games, won 6, and drew 5. The way this season is going i think that would even be enough to stagger into the play offs 😳 Crunch time now though and there's a few teams below us that surely will pick the points up. Interesting transfer window coming up, if I'm honest I expect a poor one though like last season.... -

Looked like a Glute strain the JRC injury, if so at least a few weeks out. -

All you'll get from JDT is "ask Greg" Looks like Khadra is done at Sheff Utd and presumably will be available to someone else on loan. I think I'd be open to him, we lack pace a lot of the time. PNE are desperate to sign Archer on loan, surely he'd pick us over that shower? Exactly the player we need, one of anyway. -

I was thinking the same on Kipre he looked like a slug and his only real input was dishing fouls out. -

If you look at their recent form grinding out 0-0 draws its no wonder it wasn't a spectacle. The defence was superb today and I was never worried about conceding, perhaps also indicative of how shite Cardiff where too. No idea who a large proportion of their players even were, it was like they were bringing random GTA characters off their bench. Dack showed glimpses again, he's getting there. Some of his passing was poor though. Gallagher was really poor just passing it back to their players for the most part. Everyone else had a decent game really IMO. Hope JRC ain't badly injured after seemingly sorting himself out.
