  1. I think Lehmann got it right in the press recently - England have a mental block about winning the world cup - we'll win the third place play off against a South American pub team. By that time no one will care. But my heart says... COME ON ENGLAND - IT NOW OR NEVER!!!!!! LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY
  2. Easy if slightly disappointing win for England. 1-0 England several bookings.
  3. Well it's been released and I'm impressed. For the price you can't go wrong. (I just wish I hadn't shelled out the business end of 500 quid for my xbox 360. I've never been one for long posts so here's my quick review... (the PC version) Is it worth buying? Hell yes, especially for the price. The graphics are simplistic and I thought they could have put a bit more effort in on that front but it's too much fun for it to matter. Woudnt have bothered with the big heads though - would just have put one on Bellers. Is it as good as Evo? No comparison but it certainly beats any FIFA game <spit> hands down. To sit down, play a football simulation and get absorbed in the game and gloat at your mate when you score the only goal of the game in injury time after faffing about in the middle of the park for 90 minutes, play evo. If you want a kickabout, jumpers for goal posts, dog doo on the ball, getting your mate to head it etc... (and endless more Fast Show quotes to boot) play Sensi 06. It's just as much fun. Does it play well? It's so simple even a dingle could play it. And you don't even need to like footy to enjoy it (although I can't understand anyone who doesn't) The physics are basically a straight port of the original sensi although additionally Offsides have been added and the "snap shots" you can do are immensely satisfying. You can move your wall and also control your keeper when it's one on one. Ball bustingly amusing when playing a mate. Is it as good as Sensi? It IS sensi with a few extra bells and whistles on it. I think they've gauged it just right - fans of sensi won't be dissapponted but it's also a welcome relief for those players that suck at evo. All we need now is an online version which I suspect won't be too far away. To close.... Sensi has joined the premier league of footy games - just like our boys in Blue and White, it punches well above it's weight and bites hard enough for the big boys to sit up and take notice.
  4. In broad terms mines at 44 degrees - i think if its starts to say anything above 47 its too high - Im no expert but thought it might help if you knew what someones working PC is running at
  5. I had the same problem a year ago with old PC and I would put my money on dodgy RAM - run a memtest as someone has mentioned. Failing that if you can afford to remove any of your RAM sticks from your PC (if you have more than one - then you could try running it with half the RAM - if it works with just one of your sticks then thats the problem.
  6. It's all if's and buts but if we'd have kept Cole we might have lacked the cash to sign Bellamy a couple a seasons later. My point is, it's all turned out rather rosy (I guess I'm just in a good mood today)
  7. Lets just say he's served his purpose eh? It's a sign of the times he's leaving and lets enjoy it.
  8. As soon as the PS3 is launched, watch the Xbox360 prices drop. 2-0 to Microsoft. I will, of course, buy a PS3 if Evo 6 comes out first tho
  9. For a while Dickov was our best striker which was part of our problem in the time. I agree we may well have gone down without his commitment and his goals to the Rovers cause. He was never a top premiership player but in terms of commitment he couldn't be faulted. He was a proper fighter which is exactly what we needed at the time. Forutnately things have moved on a bit but I would like to wish Paul all the best for the rest of his career. Good luck Mr Dickov and thanks for the memories, especially that screamer against Bolton.
  10. I'll probably get it but I doubt it will be anything like the original sensi and I also doubt the game mechanics will come close to evo. Sorry to be a wet blanket but I think sensi will be be neither as addictive as the original nor as playable as Evo. Hope I'm wrong tho. Still I've always been a KO2 fan myself and the greatest footy game from that era was in the arcades - Tekken World Cup (the one with the rollerball). 20p a go in Blackpools funland - ahh memories.
  11. They've fixed some lag issues on the 360 compared to the regular xbox. When I used to play on the regular xobx the host (game creator) never suffered from lag (hence i always hosted ) On the 360 the lag is split in two halves, i.e If your hosting you get a lag free first half to try and rack up the goals, then in the second half you defend for your life. It doesn't solve lagging issues obviously but it's good thinking from Konami to make the games more even contests.
  12. You can play evo 5 on the 360. As long as you are connected to Live when you load up evo 5 the game should automatically patch. I'm pretty sure you 360 players can play regular xbox players also. Do correct me if i'm wrong on that point tho.
  13. I remember that one well - My brother in Laws son was born that night - my sister and brother in law were at the infirmary down the road so couldn't go to the game. After the little sprog popped out my bro went out for some air (it was all a bit stressful). As he came out to the entrance a deafening roar swept over him - Shearer has just scored. My nephews name? Jack, of course. What a moment. Funnily enough I was watching that game at a pub in Newcastle watching some Geordies scream the c word at the big screen every time Flowers pulled off a blinding save. What a night.
  14. Was this by any chance "keepers day" where they are given the day off and get breakfast in bed?
  15. I don't remember much of the game but this has to be the best atmosphere at Ewood I have every been to for a few reasons... - It was an evening kick off - Rovers dominated from beginning to end - The atmosphere was unbelievable - I converted a dingle fan - It was the promotion season - You could stand up - They still sold "Bovril" in syrup form *Please note some of my facts may be slightly out, and let me know if you remember who got Rovers other goal (I think it might have been Super Atko) It was a warm evening as a remember and rovers were making their charge towards the premiership in our promotion season. I got in the ground about half an hour before kick and the singing started (unheard of nowadays eh?). like I say though the match details are a little hazy but I remember Chris Price thumping one into the bottom corner in the second half. It wasn't a particularly good game but we won 2-0 and Derby didn't stand a chance. The reason I would put this game as a "classic" is because for the entire duration of the first half and throughout half time was what I can only describe as an "explosive" rendition of "King Kennys Blue and White Army". The whole Blackburn end must have been jumping up and down and the place was rocking and I was knackered - Rovers where stroking the ball around but not making any chances but not giving any away either. It was 0-0 at half time and the we just didn't stop singing - the Derby players must have heard us in the dressing rooms and the fans in the Darwen end simply didn't bother trying to outshout us. Come the second half, we knew a goal was coming- with that kind of vocal support it was inevitable - the whole atmosphere in the stands and on the pitch summed up our season that year - relentless. "KKB&WA" still echoed around the ground and then came the point where rovers took the lead. Chris Price took one touch and smacked the ball into the bottom corner - To me it is one of the goals I will always remember because the fans (still chanting) basically shook the whole of Lancashire (thats what it felt like). As the sound of the ball fizzing into the net was heard, just for a moment, all my football dreams came true - I was in football heaven. Sorry it's a bit long winded and congratulations if you got this far - but surely everyone has a goal/game in there where which, whilst not a particularly important event in the history of our great club, still gives them goosebumps. As for the Burnley fan at that game that night, last time I heard he had a season ticket for the Blackburn End - To save embarrasment, I shall just call him "Mick". You know who you are my son....
  16. With a 442 im predicting 4-1 to us. If he goes back to 451 it will be 0-0 (again) My main hope is that Rovers will win by two clear goals - any stattos out there tell me the last time we won in the premiership with a bit of daylight? Come on dust off those history books!
  17. I think we'll play well - but a think spurs will just be too good for us. Edgar Davids? Uh oh. 0-2
  18. No, I live in Newcastle and I get ripped to shreds for that. Really we should go for something different every week - if we win - keep playing it - if we lose, change it. I'd try tunes like: Sam the Sham - Woolly Bully Tenpole Tudor - SOATM Eye of the Tiger - Cheesy but rousing actually im bored now....
  19. I think the bottom line is that 17,000 isn't a bad crowd for Blackburn. At the end of the day if uncle Jack hadn't have come along and someone said 17000 went to watch blackburn on Saturday you wouldn't have been disappointed. *Aside* from the extra revenue that we desperately need to compete (which is a big aside), for me, it matters not a jot what the attendance is - the atmosphere on Saturday was top notch - when the Rovers end finds it's voice there's nothing quite like it for me. I'd rather have 17,000 fans singing than that shower at St James Park where there were 52,620 voices and they bearly got above a whisper for the whole game. The lesson learned here, in my humble opinion, is that if Rovers are serving up that kind of fayre week in, week out, the fans will come. OK we won't fill the ground every week but gradually people will come. On the other side of the hoardings, us lot have a duty to make darn sure that when the whistle goes at five o'clock your vocal chords hurt. Andy Todd said the fans were great on Saturday - we need to keep that sort of support up for the lads - for the first time in a good few seasons I feel like we're a club again and I hope it continues.
  20. Got to agree with that last post - I'm apprehensive to say the least about tomorrow. I've managed to get a great seat in the rovers end behind the goal. It worries me slightly that even last season as a non ST holder I couldn't get a good seat in the Rovers end because they were all sold. Optimistic: Pedersen to be even better than last season. Kuqi scores. Savage to score a penalty. Derbyshire to nick one coming off the bench. Nelsen shores up the defence 3-1 Rovers. Realistic: Indifferent Pedersen performance with a couple of good corner kicks, Emerton does nowt. 5 players booked - press have another pop at us. Kuqi starved of service. Nelsen comes in doesn't actually play that well (as per the Fulham game last season) 0-2 Fulham. I REALLY hope Im wrong. COME ON ROVERS DO IT FOR JACK!!!
  21. Excellent stuff DP - I have sent a reply that somehow I feel was probably not as eloquent (not even sure i've spelt it right) as yours. Good job mate and roll on West Ham!
  22. Can't agree more. He's a smashin player with pace - but the main thing is he's brought that much needed "bling" to the "also ran lancs outfit"
  23. What the rovers need is a good song this season, something to sing like the we used - example - "super atko", "colin show us yer arse etc" I would suggest from the original thread: "There's only one f in shefki, one f in sheeeeefki" Lame I know but you hear any decent songs last year? Perhaps we should start a new thread for Rovers end chants? Where have the good songs gone? if this season is gonna be sucessful the fans need to start gannin mad again! New songs please!!!!! At the risk of gettin hoyed out I would imagine we would be able to sing "he's here hes there is every whoops I missed off the "g" where Bellameeeeey" Time are a changin gents: Bellamy and hughes - enter the dragons! <sorry im ######>
  24. I might be wrong here but I reckon they will have next to nowt left to spend. Interesting thing was the report said 5 mil then it said the amount was undisclosed (i swear the report changed) - it left me to wonder how badly souness wanted rid of bellers when he threatened to come back to pre season training with the Geordies. I reckon the board will let Hughes spend another Half Mill, Million at a push now.
  25. You've got a point there like Sausage - anyone who wears their heart on their sleeve and never stops running deserves to wear the rovers shirt. When savage is fit we'll have two maniacs running round the pitch non stop for ninety minutes keeping the other team occupied whilst Gamst and Bellers get a free run. Buzzing about the new season! It just made me think a bit when I read what Ipswich said about him - maybe the negative bias was a tinge of bitterness I don't know.
