1. agree with the comments about hawksbee and jacobs. it's a very entertaining listen. hawkesbee is an experienced tv writer and had a guest spell on 'you're on sky sports' (inexplicably, they've employed harold bishop now!). on galloway, i can see how he rubs some up the wrong way, but people cant dispute the fact that he's a fantastic orator.
2. agree with you, tris. maybe we could exchange our muppets for the salzburg drummer. he came equiped with a proper drum, did a couple of skilled, subtle intros and that was him.
3. yes, but we're rovers and different rules apply.
4. what a game! for me, apart from their early goal and for 5 mins after the pen, wigan were never in the game. i disagree with people who are saying we started badly. we created 3 or 4 great openings in the 1st half and battered them into submission in the 2nd. i cant understand people critics jeffers. they obviously weren't at the game. his awareness and movement are superb and hopefully yesterday's display will give his confidence a boost. the same goes for ooijer's critics. yes, he got done for pace and his challenge was rash (heskey still had a lot to do), but the game should've been stopped for a foul on bentley. the offside goal is open to interpretation. i feel we're owed that one, after the pen decision and the linesman was flag- happy to say the least. i dont think he'll run the riverside on his next visit. McCarthy is certainly on a hot-streak at ewood, 4 goals in 5 games. if he can keep that form going and bag a few away goals, we'll even surpass last seasons achievements. i'm delighted with our current form. 6 unbeaten in all competitions and 4 straight wins and playing some superb inventive and attacking football. if this form doesn't encourage stay-aways to return, nothing will. their loss. it's an absolute privilege to watch rovers.
5. i cant add much more. flawless performance. oh and ..... andre, i'm sorry!
6. the unusually antagonistic Scotty! SAS, hope you break rovers own 'road to wembley' record. also, ask them when they plan on allowing rovers to do 'the crossbar challenge' or 'team-mates'
7. intelligence on the pitch isnt always replicated off the pitch. a few examples of footballers with minimal common sense/intelligence and have done pretty well are:- jack charlton, george best, gazza, martin keown, jason mcateer, joe cole.
8. i'd choose passing abilty 1st, common sense 2nd (when choosing a playmaker).
9. ideal replacement. lets hope PSG cancel his contract. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...uspended+by+PSG
10. the worst game i've ever been at. zurab'll be fine. he's just adjusting to not having todd/ nelsen alongside him.
11. MARV, can i pose a question ? if cotterill is poached, who would you choose as his sucessor?
12. i'm a big fan of zurab's. every defender makes mistakes (look at woodgate on saturday) and i dont think they'll be many more from him.
13. totally agree, gumboots. apart couple of lapses from zurab, the defence was rock solid. bentley was terrific. he looked a real threat going forward and protected emerton. he's certainly benefiting from a long run in the side, he is full of confidence and starting to show his true potential.
14. my main point is--- why single lucas neill out ? also, how can you prove intent ? (without an admission).
15. if he was making comments like that about me, i wouldnt stand for it. at the very least, lucas should ask his solicitor to have a word with talksport's powers that be. talksport presenters have been sacked for much less in the past.
16. kinghorn reached new depths, last night. when discussing "players in the thatcher mould" (not suprisingly, cockneys were ring up in their droves naming savage, lucas, todd and dickov. 1 idiot defended michael browns conduct, saying ''savage was worse!" ) kinghorn stated "i'm sure players like lucas neill have deliberately gone out to hurt fellow professionals." do us all a favour lucas. consult your lawyers and get this gobsh*** off the airways!
17. "First thoughts. Oh s**t. No second thoughts."
18. he was terrific on saturday though, ricky. our ball retention is much better when tugay plays.
19. ROVERS 3-1 CALPOL SAVAGE ZICKLER MGP NONDA ATT: 14 783
20. alan fettis. the only rovers goalkeeper to never save a shot. well... apart from matt dickens.
21. well worth that win. comfortable. now, i've given ooijer some real stick, over the past few weeks, but he was superb. he looked confident and commanding and hopefully this is a sign of things to come. nonda put in a real shift and took his goal superbly. emerton and bentley seem to be engineering a fine partnership. MGP showed signs of getting back to his best. nearly knocked a ball boys head off his shoulders,in the warm up aswell. incidently, looks like neill is off the pens.MGP was practising them before kick-off lastly, i thought our support was terrific today (i'd estimate between 5 and 7 hundred), who says we need a drummer to generate an atmosphere.
