  1. Benni or Shefki - it's not a difficult choice really. I agree with Joey, Nonda is the far superior player, but the sheer size and work ethic of Shefki is missed, especially off the bench.
  2. Isn't he scoring again, albeit in the Championship. As for SWP being better than Bellamy, well I'm inclined to agree - especially when you factor in personality and proneness to injury.
  3. It'd be an absolute huge signing for our team, finally providing us with some much needed pace in midfield. The fact that he can consistently beat his man, nick the odd goal or two and provide service to our front two wouldn't go amiss either. Alas, Chelski are asking for £10m for him, minimum - about £6m outside of our price range. Plus, half of the Prem (the half that can afford him) is after his signature.
  4. Nonda should have scored twice, likewise Savage probably should have scored. That said, your lot need to learn to put their foot through the ball. You had a lot of tame shots. All in all, I'm happy with a draw. We're not playing well, we were away from home and we're still struggling to cope without Reid and Nelsen. A place in the last 32 isn't too shabby.
  5. Nonda has absolutely no confidence in front of goal, he should have buried both his chances. Time for Jeffers methinks.
  6. Did Gamst just get spat on? Either we're really good in Europe, or this side are crap. Whereas we've struggled to link up with the forwards in the Prem, tonight they're running the show.
  7. What a great website. Sgt Roy Batty has a future career in journalism.
  8. See, this is why I like this board - well informed discussion. Carry on.
  9. That would be a good system to follow - give each manager two 'challenges' (in American Football terms, that's a red flag that they throw onto the field). If they challenge say a red card and are deemed to be correct, then they retain said challenge. If they're deemed to be incorrect both times they challenge then they cannot challenge anymore. Obviously though they'd have to limit what you could challenge - probably to dismissals (both a second yellow [and if the first one wasn't a bookable offence, then tough because the player should have controlled themselves], or a straight red), handballs and contentious goals. You'd probably have to add fouls in the penalty area to that too. It would slow down the game, but at this point in time I'd be all for that as officiating is beyond a joke right now. As long as the correct decision is reached.
  10. All controversies aside, I'm pretty happy with a point at home. With the way our squad is stretched we're going to struggle to stay up this year. I think we will, but there's not a lot of difference between the teams after the top four. A bit of luck, a rash of injuries, a purple patch - that's, essentially the difference between sixth and lurking near the relegation zone. At the moment we're bang out of form, have injuries to the hilt and are getting no luck. Hopefully all this will change after Christmas, but up until then we just need to pick up the points where we can and cut down on conceding goals. The back four looked pretty solid tonight, I'd be tempted to stick with it for Thursday.
  11. And they have how many Rovers Sunday matches to choose from this season to show on SKY? Crazy decision - though I suppose we can't afford to turn down the money with our fan base.
  12. Can anyone explain to me why this game is on a Sunday? It seems pretty pointless to me. It's my second home match of the season I have to miss due to other commitments. Not a happy bunny.
  13. Apparently Hughsey is the dullest man on the face of the earth. Not that it detracts from his managerial skill.
  14. Neither Bentley or Pedersen have any speed. The difference is Bentley has shown the ability to trick his way past a player. Perhaps more helpful, when his close control isn't on top form, is that he has obtained that Beckham-eque quality of being able to put in a good cross without actually beating his man. Pedersen on the other hand always hits his marker in said situation. As for lack of pace in the team, well Bellamy masked just how slow the squad is last year. It's been a problem since the Souness days. Unfortunately pace is a valued commodity, so unless we get the quick players young, or indeed old, we don't have much chance of signing a decent one. That said, we're missing the pace of Reid in midfield - three of the current starting four are incredibly slow, which (as rover6 highlighted) stunts our attacks.
  15. Well his contract has six months to run (in the next transfer window) and he's publically stated that he won't re-sign with the team. Anthing we get for him would be a bonus.
  16. He was alright yesterday, but once again he had no support from midfield. He won a few knock downs, only for a red shirt to gobble up the second ball. On a negative note, the workrate from the front two is nothing short of abysmal. Defending starts from the front. Perhaps Hughes should have a word with Benni and Nonda.
  17. He was asking for it though, with those comments.
  18. Didn't the keeper get to that one first? As for Riley, well he didn't send Van Der Sar off for a handball outside of his area, so he had a poor game in my book.
  19. Not the defence's fault the midfield was overran, again.
  20. Marwood just went on about Giggs helping out his team and defending, covering Bentley minutes after having an attacking run. He failed to mention that Bentley had a free cross if he doesn't slip, Giggs was nowhere near him. Sky commentary is a joke, plain and simple. Their goal was against the run of play, but you pays your money you takes your chances as they say. Eventually the gulf in quality was going to show.
  21. Yeah, it's pretty tough listening. Ronaldo needs to try staying on his feet, likewise Saha. Nobody has mentioned that you could have bought the entire Rovers team for Carrick - they've just constantly reiterated how great United are and how much they've dominated. In fairness we've created nothing, which is worrying as their midfield has the defensive capabilities of Tugay.
