Once again a referee sets his stall out about what the threshold is for a yellow card - then wipes the slate clean at the start of the second half and books a Rover for an innocuous (if cynical) foul. Brill the standard of officiating in this league.

When does the Buttler as a Test player experiment end? He's a mediocre WK and evidently he doesn't have the technique or mental toughness to bat in Tests. Another failure with the bat today after dropping a dolly yesterday.

We had one of the stronger benches in the comp last year - Mowbray couldn't resist chopping and changing. He'd have to play Academy players if he changed the starting XI at the moment, and we know how much he hates our Academy.

I mean clearly at this point Mowbray is just going to swamp the team with 5 PL youngsters once they sort out their squads and work out who is left over. So just a couple more weeks of no signings, then 5 inexperienced (if talented) ones all at once - in positions that we probably won't need.

Yorkshire account for Root and Rashid (and occasionally Bairstow, although he shouldn't really) being away - like we do with Anderson and Buttler.

Young, promising L1 players is exactly where we should be spending our money. The trick is identifying the ones that can push on to play at the next level.
