  1. We played a 3-4-3 against Accrington Stanley - both 60 minute matches. I didn't see the match, but reports of the performance weren't exactly favourable. I didn't see the Dundee or Hartlepool matches either, but against Lincoln and Celtic we played 4-2-3-1. He's yet to play his First XI together I think - has wanted to see Academy graduates alongside those who we'd expect to be the starters. In terms of playing style - it's possession based football with the front 4 playing narrow and the FBs providing the width. The front 4 also press as a unit at times.
  2. I'd love to shift out Ayala (he's a PL quality CB on his day, but he spends most of the winter in the physio's room) and bring in Van Hecke. Sink or swim with Carter, Wharton, Can Hecke, Phillips (if he's as good as they say he's old enough) and Barnes.
  3. Which tells me that he's not very good as we know JRC is a crap FB.
  4. There is when you're asking your FBs to play as WBs.
  5. Purposefully no loanees in that squad. Not really a fair comparison to the team we fielded last year.
  6. "Oven-ready." 🤮 We need 4 players if we're to kick on - we've signed one. Apparently we have a highly thought of CM coming in on loan. Bring me Styles and a CF and I'm happy. I'm delerious if you bring in a quality CB too.
  7. Different manager, different system, different philosophy. I've seen enough in pre-season already to think that we'll have a much more cohesive team this season. That team wouldn't get relegated (barring a rash of injuries), but there's not enough depth there to achieve anything next season. We need 3 more quality players.
  8. Jota gave him nightmares against Celtic when he was playing RB. Thankfully there aren't any players anywhere near Jota's quality in the Championship and Carter is now the backup RB. Did Lincoln have a shot on target?
  9. Mainly because Wharton and Carter have looked the part. Obviously Brittain counts as 1 - I've always thought we needed 4. Of the 10 First XI players that left, more than half were inconsequential.
  10. We dallied for 5 weeks appointing a manager (Head Coach, whatever) and he was only appointed because our DoF took the reigns. They've had a very limited amount of time to assess the team and review potential transfer targets. Mowbray had 5 years of being the king of the castle with no oversight - it's apples and oranges. That said, I've been drawn into this circular discussion again, so clearly they've won.
  11. What can I say, when it's the same hand wringing post every day it starts to grate.
  12. They're going for quality over quantity. They're often players teams don't want to part with. We could have signed plenty of bodies if we wanted to. The Academy graduates provide us with quantity already.
  13. Considering where Malmo were pre and post his reign (currently 5th in the league), I'm going to suggest yes.
  14. I'm relaxed because Brittain was a great purchase and the team has looked organized in the friendlies. We need 3 quality additions if we want to do anything this year, but they'll happen when they happen.
  15. According to Transfermarkt his market value is £900k, which means they'll pay more than that. Personally I thought he was an infuriating player. Quick, skillful, but 7/10 made the wrong choice.
  16. There were no links to Brittain about 12 hours before he turned up at Brockhall. Broughton clearly keeps a tight lid on things.
  17. You literally submit this post every day. We get it, we lost 10 First XI players from last season's squad and have only brought in 1 new player (I'd argue that Markanday and Carter make that 3... and we'll see what we get out of Vale / Wharton / Garrett / Barnes / Burns / Leonard). We're all aware of the situation. The negativity isn't helpful at all. This is a new regime under our dynamic duo.
  18. I'm hoping we bother to mark opposition players from throw-ins this year. That infuriated me for 5 years under Mowbray.
  19. And you call yourself a fan. "Moyesy, that Brereton Diaz lad is worth £20m, nay bother".
  20. It's wishful thinking, no doubt. However this is Broughton and JDT's list, not Mowbray's. Neither one has ever met him - albeit I've no doubt they've both seen him play.
  21. I'd love to sign him back on a pay-as-you-play contract, then bury the bastard in the reserves for the next 3 years until he retires.
  22. It only makes sense if he's a big fan of his last manager. Its a backwards step career wise. Its genuinely a terrible league.
  23. Isn't that quite difficult, post-Brexit? A lot of the young, talented, affordable players you'd want don't qualify for a work permit.
  24. He's just submitted an article that I could have written based on this transfer thread alone. He clearly has no idea what's going on at Rovers.
  25. I'd honestly take that £10m offer from Sevilla if it's all re-invested into the playing squad.
