Having just watched the highlights, it was worse than I thought - Dolan was offside for the entire passage of play. He probably could have squared it to Hedges though.

Honestly I don't think Dolan played that well - he started to run into the channel, then realised that Giles was going to carry the ball himself. Dolan then didn't drift central enough to give him a good option square - and Giles drew a very good save from the keeper.

I keep on saying, if you're a new coach and Gallagher walks through the door you sit up in your chair - moreso when you see him run. You turn away in disgust when you see him trap a ball though. It's a joke that 5'6" Dolan is infinitely better at holding the ball up than 6'4" Gallagher.

Why? That type of ball is never played in by us - he'd have to be psychic to anticipate that.

That's why I wouldn't renew his contract. Look at the best players in the team - Nyambe, Wharton, Travis, Buckley (and begrudgingly Lenihan this year). All Academy graduates. Mowbray has been gifted half a good Championship XI for free and he's not been able to consistently build on it. In fact he's lead the charge to downgrade our Academy - madness.

If you're playing Dolan he has to play as the False 9. His energy causes problems there - he harries defenders and he's quick enough to turn Championship CBs.

Automatic promotion was gone before the start of February. We'll be lucky to finish in the Playoffs on current form.

Yep, the problem isn't that he's starting as a wide striker in a front 3, it's the fact that he never attacks the back post. He has shocking instincts for a striker.
