  1. Conceding the game - just trying to save legs.
  2. It happens every year - the December / January period decides the season. Those with big squads or who get lucky with injuries pull away. We've obviously had a rash of injuries ('cos players have been asked to play too much) and a tiny squad.
  3. LOL if Brittain's injured we're absolutely fucked.
  4. Yeah, their tactic of just dropping the ball into the 6 yard box with someone illegally blocking the GK is a nightmare to deal with.
  5. The only chance of real substance was the Gueye header, and that was a good save. The Gueye shot and the Batth header are half chances at best that, on an other day, maybe go in. Too many times we've got into good positions and either refused to cross it or chosen the wrong option.
  6. They've been ok - Hedges the worst of that bunch by a mile, obviously. A few mistimed passes by JRC and Cantwell refusing to take the game by the scruff of the neck, but by and large we've been on top. There's just no quality going into the box.
  7. Give over. You're expecting your CM to win a header against a 6'3" CF at the back post? It's not happening - and again is why it's BAFFLING we don't whip the ball into the box for our 6'5" CF at every opportunity.
  8. As I've said previously - Eustace is the reason we are where we are. Most managers in this division are shit (including the waster in the opposition dugout tonight). Give him Coventry's squad and he's challenging for automatics.
  9. There's been no quality into the box, again.
  10. LOL how is Binks clearing the ball a foul by Gueye? These refs.
  11. Yep, freak goal, but that's football for you. Have to take your chances when they come.
  12. It's the same as the Burnley game - just persistent niggly fouls breaking up all of our play. The ref needed to stamp down on it early with a yellow card, especially when it's the same players committing the fouls.
  13. How about that one? (shoulder in the back of Hedges) Lad's a thug.
  14. LOL another ref that refuses to book players for cynical fouls. Their CM should be on a yellow.
  15. Yes and they have better players all over the pitch because they've spent millions.
  16. We've got no chance tonight. Nobody can come off that bench to strengthen the team - and it's another mid-week game so the starting 11 will be knackered.
  17. Yes, WE were the sellers, something we've become experts at, and there was an interested buyer. The only way we'd get Asante-Thomas is if he was surplus to requirements.
  18. If you're still running a combination of Dolan, Hedges, ACD and Weimann out wide you could loan in Mbappe and he'd struggle. Thoams-Asante played for Coventry in their last game - he's not coming.
  19. No, we need to clear out the mammoth wages of McFadzean, Markanday, Garrett and O'Riordan before we can possibly afford anyone.
  20. I thought he was really, really poor for us. Surprisingly so. Still I'm jealous that everyone else is signing players and we're keeping our powder dry.
  21. I suspect those scouting him, if they know football, will simply send back an incomplete report. "He has nobody to pass to in advanced positions".
  22. It's 4 months of wage contributions + loan fees for players that won't be here next year. That'll be a significant outlay. The automatics are locked up and Sunderland and Burnley look very, very good. Rather than chasing a pipe dream of promotion we should be building for the future - both continued success on the field and financial success off it i.e. prospects that we can sell on. I'd still fancy us to finish 5th or 6th with the right permanent signings - we're never catching the automatic teams - and then it's a lottery in the Playoffs. Only it's a lottery where you're playing with your own players and aren't back at square one in August 2025.
  23. So the club should be spaffing this £40m transfer windfall on loans? Seems sustainable.
