  1. That was my first impression watching it in real time too. The replays, however, make it look much more dubious, so we'll have to see. Agree it's important for the player and therefore us.
  2. Nobody on here is trying to do that, chiefly as none of us has the power to do that. If anything I'm sure we all want him to get to keep it. The game is over, we won, we're all ecstatic. If people want to now have an objective discussion about whether he actually headed it, which is certainly questionable without seeing a HD slow motion replay from the right angle, I don't see a problem with that. Ultimately the dubious goals panel will make the decision one way or the other and that will be the end of the matter.
  3. I think experience alongside experience is benefitting Hyam. He may have found the younger, less experienced but fitter and faster Carter harder to read in order to know how to act accordingly himself.
  4. I was over it the second I posted it until you piped up. You said he did nothing wrong, well, he did. A clean sheet doesn't automatically mean a flawless goalkeeping performance.
  5. If you take out the goal I'd disagree, though he did well. One or two of his early cameos were more promising. I'm not going to use the exact words that are apparently banned, but having seen the replays again at the end, I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if he gets to keep that one. Would be a shame. Hopefully he takes the confidence boost whatever happens.
  6. Ohashi talking to Gueye at the end, keeps putting his hands on his head. Seems like he was basically saying 'mind blown that you scored' 🤣
  7. Apart from the exact thing we were discussing, which could have easily cost a goal and 2 points.
  8. Think the ref has money on us drawing. Even handed reffing while the scores were level, everything Sheff W's way since.
  9. Always call it exactly how I see it with Pears, the good and the bad. Mashed and co can say what they want.
  10. That's a joke too, a booking for kicking the ball back into play? That's the opposite of time wasting. Ref had a fairly good game until that penalty.
  11. Seriously, Pears has been much steadier this season, but what is with his continual inability to catch or at least parry to somewhere that isn't a danger area?
  12. Genuinely nearly as happy for the lad as I was for us then...only issue, and I should've looked a bit more closely, but one of the replays looked like it may be an own goal. Hope for his sake he gets to keep it, could go on a run.
  13. Yeh cos we have been great at retaining scouting staff in recent years haven't we?
  14. The way things are ran at the moment, if someone stayed for 3 or 4 years in that post I'd be worried. Any Chief Scout worth their salt will get tired of barely having a budget to work with, and being undermined by other power brokers in the hierarchy. If they stay that long (unless things here change) they're probably desperate or a yes man.
  15. I suppose by this logic, the club always has great depth. We have plenty of U21s, U18s and U16s we could field, who are better than either of us... And then clearly an army of fans ready to get out there after that.
  16. What about you and I? I'm incredibly injury prone and would probably spend at least 80% of the season injured, and the rest being shit at that level. Is that still depth?
  17. Yes. Undisclosed fee, which was varyingly reported as being somewhere from 300k to 500k.
  18. I don't think anything on youtube is pay per view. Could be wrong.
  19. I don't believe we have had any money for Finneran yet. I haven't heard about the compensation being settled. I'm expecting it won't be any higher, or much higher anyway, than 500k.
  20. There is a middle ground between the hyperbole of 'practically gave him away' and a 'decent fee' (less hyperbolic, but still a generous assertion). Neither is true for me. We sold Wharton for what will prove a bargain price if injuries don't end him prematurely, and about 5-8 million shy (10 at the very most) of what could reasonably be expected in the summer if we had held firm and didn't have clownpants owners.
  21. Bit of a mystery to not play Gueye especially. Needs game time, needs a goal to restore confidence. Will surely only come off the bench again this weekend, if that. Baker I guess hasn't played much and is a touch old, so maybe suddenly giving him 90 and then starting him again at the weekend wouldn't be ideal, but surely a 60 minute run out would have put a bit more in his legs for the weekend. Perhaps starting him isn't the plan. Not sure what the plan is...Cantwell further back maybe? JRC, who has been shit?
  22. Cheers, yeh I'm aware of the Dacia Spring. Terrific price point for a new EV, but the range is very limited. I'm not sure what its battery chemistry is either, which matters for guessing how long that will probably last, though most new ones should be good for a while. You would probably only get about 100 miles or less in cold weather, which would be a problem for my Blackpool to Manchester trips, let alone if I landed something further afield, so it wouldn't have been suitable for my needs. I also don't have 'buy new car' money! But for someone who can afford it, doesn't have too far to travel routinely, and really wants to get into EVs, it could be a great arrival on the scene. Although you'll generally always get better value on the used market, as with most cars.
  23. Although tbf, those lost causes do sometimes come good. Brereton being everyone's favourite example. But personally yes, I'd see if he can start scoring goals and regain confidence in the U21s, and if he struggles there too he needs to go in the bin.
