  1. Didnt have a cheque book on me, and why should I? I can use my debit card everywhere else... (I had to drive around for ages to find a machine that wouldnt charge me for the "priviledge" of withdrawing my money too, but thats another grumble altogether!) I had completed the season ticket transaction all but for the payment, and had to go away to get the cash. Luckily I really wanted the ticket but how many businesses would go under if the buyer agreed to buy but was then allowed to leave the premises before completing the sale? A large % of sales would be lost I bet...
  2. I was amazed to to be asked to pay £5 to buy an extra season ticket yesterday, when I was paying on debit card. I use this in pubs, shops, petrol stations etc with no problem, so why the charge?! (I drove around to a hole in the wall to withdraw the cash rather than pay the fiver on principle!) Makes no sense whatsoever!
  3. After realising during the Everton game that the seat next to me is no longer occupied by a season ticket holder, I have decided to buy my 6 year old son his first season ticket. My question is, is it worth me asking for a discount as the Everton game has been missed, and where do I stand (or sit ) if I buy the ticket today and the seat I want for the Chelsea game is sold? Ultimately we are talking about saving a couple of quid, but I wonder if anyone has any experience of buying a season ticket, once the season has started?
  4. This was the only corporate entertainment ticket offer I have turned down for OT in about 5 years! All those years of keeping quiet in the wrong end while we nearly got a result (or that great draw the year before). Oh well I suppose I saved myself a battering. I also went to the cup semi in the wrong end and managed to keep quiet through all the goals, drama and penalty saves, only for Saha to go down late on grabbing the ball, attempting to win a penalty. The occassion got to me and I stood up and shouted "Handball you cheating b******!" before remembering myself and sheepishly sitting down again. Thankfully there were only minutes left. 60 odd thousand eyes could be felt drilling into the back of my head! (Actually I doubt very much if half of them even spoke Engrish). Anyway, being the superstitious sort I doubt I shall be visiting that stadium again if it means we keep on winning!
  5. Just seen a headline on tonights Sports section of the Lancashire Telegraph...apparantly Alan Mahon thinks they are all one big family in Burnley! How does that song go again? "Your mums your dad...."
  6. Maybe a member seating map would be a good idea in addition to the global one. It would help people to get together on Matchdays maybe, or perhaps you sit next to a fellow member and dont know! (Is this a good thing?! )
  7. Think Matt Dickens was the keeper vs Wolves... Generally Rovers have always been very well represented by keepers for quite a few decades now...
  8. Rooneys red card was laughable. To anyone who has posted on this forum stating it was justified then I can only state that you have clearly never played football at any level. I'm not even convinced that the card was for the "stamp", the ref seemed to react to the "push" on gay boy...either way it was a joke... I really wouldnt bet on the little ponce being at Old Trafford come August, which is a shame, because Im sure some nut case in the stands would have had a go at him at some point, and for once I would argue that it is totally vindicated...
  9. Will miss the Newcastle home game in December as I will be in Paris on my honeymoon. Will any pubs show the game over there anyone?
  10. Very proud of my Sporting Lesbian side, who, unlike Spurs managed to hang on to that fourth spot! Up the Dykes!
  11. How on earth did Rooney get the March player of the month ahead of Bellers? Craig's goal to game ratio etc was superior and no one seems to be playing better than him anywhere at the moment. It seems sometimes they like to give these prizes out as doubles ie manager and player award at same club and seeing Ferguson was the option for the managers award they thought they would spare themselves a thirty minute drive North to Ewood and hand the other prize to Rooney. What a joke!
  12. The Mackerel question is Swindon Town River Mersey I would guess Stockport County
  13. Way hay! I emailed the Sky website last week to do an analysis on Bellamy and it looks to have done the trick!
  14. As a person who is not affected by the date change I am obviously in a priviledged position of being able to look at this situation more objectively than someone who, quite rightly, is upset if the new date means they are inconvenienced, or even cannot attend altogether. I believe the club have probably made, the right, albeit unpopular decision here, by agreeing to move the fixture once again. The problem Rovers have is that, basically they were onto a loser if they went against the proposed date change. The press would have had a field day going to town on our little, unpopular club of talentless thugs and neanderthal, small town mentality fans at a time where the Hillsborough anniversary story will be big news and the sensible money will be on the press favouring the hard done to, grieving Liverpool fans, whilst laying into our lot who dont buy many papers anyway. Instead we have found ourselves in a position where we are the "bigger man" and the club and Mark Hughes in particular, have emerged with great credit and dignity at a time where football is littered with thugs, yobs and overpaid prima donnas who care nothing for the heart and soul of the game. People talk about "big" clubs. Birmingham showed that being from a city and having a larger crowd does not make one a "big" club, when their handling of the Robbie Savage saga was, frankly amateurish. Nearly every single member of this board takes the ###### on a regular basis, still...over a year on, and probably always will. We, in contrast do not have the geography or the crowds, (or an empty trophy cabinet) but who is the more respected outfit? If we had refused the switch, rightly or wrongly, what would LFC fans be saying about us in 12 months time, rightly or wrongly, about what is a far more emotive subject? Rovers are slowly turning around the national opinion of themselves by playing attractive football getting (spectacular) resultsand having a polite, articulate, intelligent manager, who isnt afraid to mix his words, yet rarely leaves pundits and fans alike thinking what a prat he is, a' la Morinho, Wenger and Ferguson. Todays move further cements our position. Rovers have always had a reputation as being one of, if not the friendliest "family" clubs around, a fact which I am proud of. Let me also say that I lay the blame of this fiasco entirely on the doormat of a greedy, insensitive Liverpool Board, who have put football before people, as I think do most people, but at least our great(er) club is not tarred with the same brush. Liverpool fans have a great sense of unity and are great at displaying their feelings and emotions as a unit, be it through song, voting with their feet or even by displaying banners at games, as some have them have suggested they do, bearing tidings of thanks to our club, who showed more compassion to 96 dead fans of another club than their own could do. It wouldnt surpise me if they did make some kind of grand gesture, and what a lot of pride it would give me for my club if they did. Ultimately I feel sorry for the fans who have made travel arrangements from abroad, or from outside Lancashire, as I feel that they have been inconvenienced the most by far. For the fans living in an around Blackburn who have been put out, I think you need to put things into perspective...yes its an almighty pain in the arse when fixtures change, especially under the circumstances today, but are ALL of you really going to find it that difficult to change your plans a month in advance? Next week it could be SKY or bad weather causing you the same problem. I am also sure that for every fan who may now miss the match, there must be a reasonable proportion of fans that can now go that couldnt have yesterday. It is just the luck of the draw so to speak. In summary, Liverpool football Club have emerged from this with great discredit, the opposite of which I believe will be how Rovers are portayed as the intensity of this occasion builds up as the match draws nearer. (And it will). I believe that some kind of gesture of compensation should be made by Liverpool FC to our fans, not because the match fell on this particular date, but because of the insensitive way it has been handled for all parties. How that should be done I do not know. Either way, history will look back at this date kindly, from Rovers point of view, whilst the result (which in IMO will in no way beaffected by kick off times or dates) will be irrelevant. Im sorry for those who may miss out, but take pride that your club is one of dignity and respect, in an age where football is polluted with backhanders, cheats and corruption. The Club have taken the only option they could have sensibly taken, so lets go on and win a game that, because of the occasion, the footballing world may have once viewed as Liverpools to win, but is now ours for the taking...
  15. Ah yes, the lesser known member of the family...Anakin Sky Walker
  16. In a funny sort of way, the fact that they fell out and then made up on the pitch actually came across as a positive to me. Its good to see our players be both passionate and also big enough to kiss and make up, all for the blue and white cause. Not the best example today of how well Rovers can play, but a great advert for so many reasons to encourage all the missing fans to come back. I think I actually enjoyed today more than the Chrlton game, overall...
  17. Check out the BBc website...Lawrenson has finally lost the plot and predicted a Rovers win, plus given us a compliment!
  18. There is no doubt that Savage made a meal of Reyes "punch" and in a perfect world there would be no place for that in football. However, this isnt a perfect world and Savages antics, albeit overtly theatrical, displayed what is now defined as "professionalism". All the "big" players do it now, sadly, so why should we miss out? To me therefore, his only crime was that he wasnt a lot "cuter" with his response. Reyes should have been at least reprimanded for his actions although a red card would have been a little harsh (but applicable under the laws of the game). However, Savages response in effect superseded what Reyes did, and made him a scapegoat for the press once again. Once again however, the press decide to have a pop, because they can, and because it requires less imagination than writing anthing else. What did really bug me however, was the response of Graeme Le Saux on MOTD. Upon the retirement of several of our higher profile Title winning players, and the inevitable entry into the world of punditry for some of them, I was quite excited by the prospect of having someone on "our side" in the media at last. Someone to fight our corner in the world of the much biased "Southern Based Press". However Le Saux, ably supported by the equally effeminate "Mark" Lawrenson saw it fit to laugh off Reyes challenge before finding humour in the fact the Robbie Savage has long hair and highlights. Perhaps this shouldnt have come as a surprise as Le Saux is the "man" who saw fit to lash out at a team mate on the pitch 10 years ago. Ultimately the world seems to be divided in to two lots of people: Those who like Robbie Savage and those who dont. Those who do seem to be able to admit when he has done something wrong, but those who dont like him generally seem to be incapable of admitting when he has had a good game or produced something positive. Most of the latter made their mind up about Savage before he even pulled the blue and white halves on, and will never change their minds. I think it is sad that some people are like that, but each to his own I suppose... As someone else has pointed out, I bet the "Big Club" would secretly love to have him back...
  19. Thats fine, I dont want to attend BRISA just to talk about my ideas of course, but I would certainly like to be involved in the development of them. Given tonights agenda though, is there any point in non committe members attending? I am very keen to attend but would like it to be worthwhile given the effort it would take to get there...
  20. What time is tonights meeting likely to finish. I am keen to attend, particularly if some of the ideas I put forward are to be discussed but may not be able to make it until later. I dont want to turn up at half eight or nine and find its all over, does anyone have any idea how long it will go on for?
  21. Can anyone give me a link to a live feed for todays game? I cant make it to the pub but I want to share in Utd's misery with the rest of the world...
  22. Done. I am now a paid up member, lets hope we can make a difference on matters such as these. In my mind if BRISA could acheive just one of its objectives it would be a full Ewood Park every match.
  23. The fantastic atmosphere around the ground and particularly on the Blackburn End on Saturday deserves a mention. One can definitely feel a sense of the building momentum of the atmosphere, if not the attendance after each home win. Surely the club should strike while the iron is hot and employ to maximum effect any marketing strategies they may have now, while they are likely to have the greatest impact? Is BRISA suitably well established yet to have an influence in such areas?
  24. Laughable, exactly who would you swap Friedel for in todays Premiership? Lets not forget the mess that Cech made for Bellamys goal last week, no keepers are perfect but it just happens that we have one of the best. Of course he will occasionaly make mistakes as all keepers do, but look at the quality saves he pulled off today. Anyone who doubts Friedels class clearly needs to spend more time watching football than spouting drivel on this board. Sure, he may not be quite as good as he used to be, but he is still one of the best keepers around that Rovers fans could hope to be wearing the number one shirt.
