I know you are just using him as an example, but at this rate I think Marcus Maddison might go down in Luca Toni folklore on this message board in years to come.
-
Have to say for me midfield is our weakest area, how Evan's is still playing for us just baffles me. I'd rather see Bennett moved inside with Smallwood, and Play Palmer as one of the "front four". I just hope we get after them tomorrow and attack them from the off.
-
I can't see Mowbray bringing in anyone around that age to be honest.
-
Evans & Samuel will start, 100% guaranteed. Armstrong and Palmer to come on around the 60th min. Nuttall to come on in the 70th min.
-
The cynic in me says that this is another bid "put out there" to show that we are trying. It's not happening.
-
I'm going to file that one in the same cupboard as the Freeman bid.
-
Derby have enough players for 7 squads at the moment!
-
Noticed Bristol Rovers have just signed a striker from Watford on loan. Big Joe to come on after 70 mins on Saturday it is then.
-
Probably the "doom mongers" as they haven't set themselves up for disappointment!
-
I think most of the frustration coming from people on here, is that all we have heard all week in quotes from Mowbray after signing Armstrong is how we are planning to get "a couple" more permanent deals in place before Thursday. Had he said, "we're unlikely to get anymore in now before Thursday, but we'll look at the loan market with a view to permanent deals" then I don't think everyone would be getting as bent out of shape as they are now.
-
Just over 3 hours to go, it's even pushing it for Chapman to race down from Boro now. Think today has been a write off. No doubt there will be a good spin on it by banging on about the loan window again though.
-
Have to laugh, you will go nuts if you start following every journalist in every area today. Every bugger will be saying something different! The sensible thing would be to log off, get on with work for the day and come back at 6pm to see what has actually happened. Anyone? No, me either...
-
Sharpe saying that the bid did happen, no reason not to believe him. Begs the question though, was it just a token bid to show people that we're "trying" or had we been given some encouragement by someone to think that it could have genuinely been enough? I know some don't like "negative" comments, but we have to be real here, I honestly don't see anyone coming in today. Mowbray has mentioned the loan window far too often really so I think that's his way of setting us up for all our last minute business being done there.
-
That's an interesting one, can't recall that name coming up before. Good shout!
-
Ambitious striker I'm guessing is Gallagher. I think we might end up being disappointed come 5pm, I'm sure we will be trying to get deals over the line but I can see time being against us and settling for the loan market.
-
Pretty much agree with all this except the CM area, we might be well stocked body wise but not one of them is good enough to compete in the top half of this league. If there is a chance to improve in that area we must take it.
-
I'm not sure Chapman is even on the radar to be honest. At least people have stopped talking about Maddison now though
-
That article screams to me that whilst money might be available, don't expect too much to happen before Thursday. I reckon we might get one in before then, then maybe 2/3 on loan before the end of the month.
-
I don't think Sharpe would have said there is more money available if there wasn't. I just don't think that A, we are interested, and B, if we are that we will get him.
-
No, I don't have a link. Christ you can't say anything on here now without being asked for sources, links etc. I can't remember where it was from, could it have been the consultation meeting where he said something along the lines of Chapman being desperate to come back and the deal was quite easy to do but he didn't see him as a starter? Would be surprised if I was wrong on McGinn, but don't get me wrong I'd be pleased!

Darwen End Closure / New Singing Section
MarkBRFC replied to pk1875's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Think it depends with Villa/Leeds, if they are flying (which there starts suggest they might be) then I can see them both filling at least the lower tier. I can't see many other sides filling it though, Preston maybe depending on how they are doing, Stoke/WBA other possibility's but doubt the latter. After that I'm struggling. -
McGinn was never going to happen though was it? Can't help but feel the link was used to drive up Celtics bids.
-
The way I see our current "links" Bauer - 40/60 chance, reading all the comments by everyone involved, I can see Charlton trying to make a point over this one and keeping him, maybe one to watch in Jan. McGinn - Absolutely no chance, complete non starter. Chapman - I think Boro have sold Traore this week, so I think he will get a chance there now, disappointing as he has obvious potential, judging by Mowbrays comments it sounds like we could have had him for relative peanuts early on in the window, I think we should have maybe taken a gamble with him. Gallagher - Has he ever been linked properly or is he another message board one like Maddison? I think we'll see two more come in before Thursday, and I'd bet it is players that we have never been linked with.
-
I haven't seen much of Bauer, but looking at him from the outside the clips I have seen he seems to be a "proper" defender, he's a good age, would add some much needed height to the team, and we have the number 5 shirt all ready and waiting for him . Could be shrewd business for 500k?
-
Yeah i said in a previous post that we switched to it in a couple of games last season and it appeared to work quite well, no issue with that as you have to have another plan up your sleeve. I just hope we don't start with it again.
