  1. Hull have shown how to play a transfer window when on the edge of the playoffs. Three good signings, each time we’ve been in the playoffs we seem to have weakened our team in the January window. It’s no coincidence that on two consecutive seasons we were well placed in the playoff spots only to miss out completely.
  2. Just scored a cracker within the opening 30 seconds.
  3. They will have known that Wharton is likely to be off for at least a week or two so surely we’ve been looking at options to bolster the midfield. We were already light after Travis going as Buckley isn’t going to be fit for a while. Surely we have some targets lined up and all but agreed subject to Wharton going. That’s what any sensible club would be doing anyway
  4. He’s definitely not the Irish foden based on this. Think he’s been very poor.
  5. I’m guessing they will only be sold in home ends if you have a ticket buying history. Saw yesterday what happens with away fans in home ends.
  6. Im pleased someone called out the ‘get £25m for Wharton and sign 6 players nonsense’. We’ve just had to slash the wage bill so I can’t suddenly see us freeing up wages for 6 new players. If we take it from the Wharton money it leaves us about £500k for the signing. We are shopping in bargain basement land! Ideally we can get a high earner in Gallagher off the books. His wages may allow us to bring in one or two players on loan. He’s on a decent amount. The lad from Newport looks like he knows where the back of the net is 🙂 Or if we want to take a gamble fork out the £1.5m for Macaulay Langstaff.
  7. We need to include loan fees as part of the sell on for Wharton as a club like Chelsea could recoup a fair chunk of what they pay for him with 3 loans. On the Yates thing, I wanted us to go for him when he left Blackpool so I’d be happy with him as a Gallagher replacement.
  8. Phillips would be a great signing for us to cover for Carter
  9. I expect to see a lot of Wrexham fans in home ends of the ticket office doesn’t close early (and probably still if they do tbf). Maidstone 2-1 up now
  10. If we need a big target man I can’t see why we don’t cash in on Gallagher and go for Clarke-Harris from Peterborough. He’d offer as much if not more as Gallagher does imo.
  11. We know how money works with this lot. Even if we get £20m the argument is that the money will have to cover the wages and fee over the 4 years of the deal. They’ll convince us that we are lucky to be given a new £2m pound signing. In a normal club with all money reinvested then it could make sense. Here, knowing we’ll get a fraction of the money then it makes no sense to sell now.
  12. Also out is a premier league level defender in Hill.
  13. I just can’t see how the Wahlstedt thing happened. There’s no way he could have been properly scouted. From day one he looked very questionable on crosses. Surely that would have been spotted if any scouting was done.
  14. Maybe they want to get the sign off from the court to be able to send x amount over and then the Gallagher sale wouldn’t impact on it. Otherwise it may be reduced by the courts in line with the amount we sell him for
  15. Both. They aren’t allowed to do any more than just the running costs but EFL rules would probably make it difficult to put money in if they could (I’d argue that they could put in money knowing it’s coming later, I’m thinking the Raya money) but with the Indian court issue that doesn’t seem to be possible .
  16. A couple of million less on the Raya money if we take it now..and someone on here is actually suggesting that taking it now would be a good move. Madness!! Thats nearly half of it knocked off at a time when we know signings cost more typically. Just wait until January and have the full amount. Chaddys maths is a bit out as well (shock). Out of that £5m we may get to spend a couple on a player as there will be wages and fees to cover as the current status with the Indian courts will only cover the existing (and reduced) wage bill. We’re in a mess but luckily I think we probably have just enough extra points to stay up.
  17. I wonder how we’d be looking had we got a proper forward in last summer. Interestingly I’m not sure it would have made a huge difference as our goals for figures don’t seem to be the issue.
  18. Apart from the pass for an assist on his debut with the team second in the league on the weekend.
  19. Both managers under pressure. Huddersfield will probably sack Moore with a loss but we’ll probably give JDT a contract extension if we do.
  20. Why did the scouting not pick up that Leo couldn’t catch a fucking cold! Surely we watched him. Or was it just a case of seeing that someone had bid for him and not wanting to miss out. stinks that we blew any money that we had on him when he looks very very poor. Can’t see him ever being any more than a back up.
  21. Nobody is buying us with over £100m of debt. I’m pretty sure not a single one of those you mentioned was sold with those debt levels so the only option (as you mentioned) is administration and then the hope someone decides to buy us. There’s a couple of teams on there that would clearly be more attractive to an investor, I’m thinking Birmingham and Sunderland mainly, due to the large catchment and fan base. Sunderland could get 40k attending quite easily if they were in the top flight. Our cap is probably 20-25k. That’s going to be something that an investor will look at. Some of the others were bought when they were in the lower leagues at a lower cost. I can only really see a future of administration and then a buy out. It would be great if a rich owner came in but as we’ve seen, we already have one of those and it’s not been the answer. A rich owner can still only invest so much due to ffp. I don’t know the answer but it’s certainly a worrying time.
  22. The club will probably argue that Buckley is the Travis replacement.
  23. Depends how much they want to gamble on going up. Also I guess they are only in year one of the ffp cycle as it’s different rules in league 1. If they wanted to show a sign of intent buying the leagues top scorer wouldn’t be a bad way to do it.
  24. We have a group of lightweight pretty footballers so are they really going to win their battles against seasoned pros who aren’t worried about getting kicked. The Irish Foden, that has to be a joke lol, is not going to go flying into a 50/50 with an experienced championship midfielder. Adam Wharton will be an outstanding football but we can’t keep ignoring the defensive side of his game which isn’t just lacking, it’s non existent. We are very luck to have a bit of a buffer. We’d be screwed otherwise.
