I’m probably ok with it. I think we have to get a keeper. For me, if we just get a keeper we will be pretty light in places but I do think our defence instantly becomes better. A nervous keeper who doesn’t come for crosses makes for a nervous defence. I could probably be ok with one permanent player coming in if it was a keeper. I do think we need to use the loan market better though. We need to get the calibre of Elliot, Khadra, JPVH and Harwood-Bellis and not the recent ones of Moran, Clarkson and the Liverpool defender whose name escapes me.

Khadra could be an interesting one if available. Looked decent in the loan spell but not done a great deal since. Ayari would also be interesting, I don’t think we used him enough as I do think there’s a decent player in there. Depends if we want to use pace down the wings though. Don’t think Khadra or Ayari help us with that.

Just went to put Sammy in my fpl league. £6m which ours him at more than Smith-Rowe and Carvalho and on a par with Muniz from Fulham who was a big points scorer last season.

Hadn’t spotted that Karimoko Dembele had gone to QPR on loan. I think we should have been all over that based on his performances last season at Blackpool.

Weirdly I know Mikeys brother. He has premier league interest but Celtic are being difficult. Don’t know the full details but I’ll ask. Josh Bowler would be the one I’d be keen to see us go for. Like others have said he seems to have a bit of magic about him but hasn’t settled at Forest. We may even get a loan deal with an agreed fee.

For the Smodzics stuff it may be just as simple as us saying we’d accept a reasonable offer and then arguing what reasonable is. It could also be that we said we’d accept £8m but Ipswich are suggesting that is £6m up front and £2m in deferred payments / bonuses whilst we are saying it has to be guaranteed payment. It could even be that we want £8m after we’ve paid the sell on fee to Peterborough. There’s lots of areas there could be arguments about. I’d argue we shouldn’t let him go for less than £10m on current t form.

References to Scott Dann had me confused for a while but assuming the poster has mixed up his Danns and Duffys. Bad start for Norwich off the back of a pretty poor (results wise) pre season. Will be a tough game but one we can potentially get something out of. I’d take a point if offered one now.

He’ll out score Gallagher I reckon. I guess as his replacement that’s all that we can really expect. As others have touched on, if he had the finishing to match his hold up play, he’d be playing at a higher level. We have to hope he can be coached, or hit a bit of form on the finishing side of his game. I think he could still hit double figures for us this season.

We also had Branthwaite previously and I would have never thought he would become a £60m+ rated defender. Harwood-Bellis looked by far the better player.

If you do sign Moran expect one of his friends / family members to swamp your Messageboard with quotes of ‘the Irish Foden’ and random bollocks like that.

Has the other Dembele gone anywhere? He had a great loan at Blackpool.

Thought JRC didn’t look on it but maybe he’s better bombing on from fullback. Pears did well for the goal line clearance but doesn’t fill me with confidence. Thought Hyam looked shaky. Couple of runs out where he lost the ball and put us in trouble but then also made some good clearances. New signings all impressed. Big Mak looked a handful and will be useful for us and Ohashi took his goal brilliantly. Weimann was in the right place to take advantage of a great bit of play from Carter. Always happy with an opening day win. Derby we’re poor and the worry is that they still scored two past us

That it’s been a bit shit

The O’Riordan signing is an odd one. Looked a good one as he’d had a good number of games at Crewe and was well regarded there. Just doesn’t seem to have kicked on.

There’s only one thing more annoying than Chaddys constant blue tinted spectacle view of everything and that’s his constant use of the word ‘yourself’ in every post!!

Coming on a free and potentially not a huge wage as his options are clearly limited. That front line currently has very little experience in it so it wouldn’t be a shock to bring in someone the manager has worked with before.

Exactly. The young players bought in on loan must be better than what we have in our academy. For me that’s why the loans of the likes of Elliot have been key. Loaning a squad filler to sit on the bench and have little influence on the game is pointless. I’d rather take one Elliot or JPVH than several squad fillers.

Cardiff seem to have bought very well. Willock and El Ghazi for the wide areas and Chambers at the back seem like good signings. The striker on loan they have bought in could also be a good shout. Would expect them to improve on last season. Also being linked to Cantwell who could possibly do well in this league but he’s more of a gamble.

Even after the season ended he was still spouting on about us spending £7m this summer.
