  1. At least Shankland has scored goals. I’d take him over Woodrow if it was one or the other
  2. I’m ok with Shankland if he can get back to his previous form. Could Eustace be the man to get him back to his best, possibly. He’s an experienced forward and I’m happy to give him a chance. Certainly not writing him off
  3. There’s also the possibility that no league 1 clubs wanted him on loan. We can only loan him if someone wants to take him. It may have been a case that the club put feelers out but Tranmere were the only ones interested so it was a case of there or nowhere. alternatively if may have been the players choice. He’s a scouser after all. He may have family who are Tranmere fans.
  4. I’ve met a lot of the old BRFCS crew on various European adventures, fortunate to still have a lot of friends who have previously been on the forum. Some still post occasionally and some don’t anymore. I’ll be heading up on Friday. Don’t get to as many games now I have a wife and family (and a 7 hour round trip). Bit different to my carefree days of young lol.
  5. Who do you get rid of from our current squad. You’d need to free up 2 or 3 spaces by loaning out players. I wouldn’t be against a loan for Leonard but who else?
  6. I know you’re quite keen on the idea of Thomas-Asante as a striker. I don’t see that signing him will get us a play off place. We need so much more. Do you think he has the quality to get us that play off place or are you thinking him plus a quality striker?
  7. I’d be asking about a loan for Johnstone
  8. I know it’s looking like a done deal to Coventry but he’s a player I would have liked to have seen here again. That’s some record for a DM.
  9. I struggle with the ‘judge at the end of the window’ logic expressed by Chaddy and…. Well just Chaddy really. We’ve wasted too many games in January where we’ve had to stretch a weakened squad to breaking point. If we were a normal team with a decent squad then arguably doing business early is less of an issue. When you’ve lost players to injury and recall then the priorities need to change and the executive team at the club need to be able to react quickly. thats the main place where we fall down. I’d argue that all of our failed transfers end up coming down to that one point. We’re too slow to react and end up having to rush things through at the end while wading through the mud that is the communication back and forth to the owners. It’s not going to get any better any time soon. We know the owners only have interest in keeping the lights on. Nothing they have done in recent years points to anything else.
  10. I’m sure someone mentioned Andy Irving as a potential loan. He’s come on for West Ham and looks decent.
  11. Again, with a striker we could have had that game wrapped up. Missed some decent chances before going down 2-1. We were well on top when they scored the winner. Initially I thought it was an awful error by Pears. The replay showed the deflection took it away from him.
  12. JRCs best performances have definitely been as an attacking right back. Gets completely lost in centre mid. Spoke to a Leeds fan last night who was talking about Forshaw and how good he was when Philips got injured for them. Interesting that Philips has also regressed so much, wonder if it was down to Bielsa and the way they played.
  13. It’s no secret that we need a goal scorer. You need to go down to 15th in the league to find a team with a few goals as us. We had a run where we nicked 1-0 wins as the back line was so solid. Unfortunately the lack of goals always meant that those results could easily become 1-0 losses. However I don’t agree that a single striker gets us the play offs. We’re too weak in our back up positions. Starting 11 is probably good enough for a top 6 but our squad is very weak and lacks the quality in depth to sustain a top 6 push. We can’t rely on the likes of JRC and Leonard to come in and make a difference. I’d argue we need to loan out Leonard, Buckley and JRC and bring in the quality we need. Shelvey would have been good, O’Brien may also be a decent option. Unfortunately we can’t even compete with the average teams in our league for wages so we’re going to be shopping in the bargain bins (Plymouth and Birmingham cast offs). I have no idea how this window ends but if history teaches us anything it’s that we’ll bring in a couple of cheap loans or free signings. We’re not fishing in the big ponds anymore. We can forget those signings, basically if there is another top half team in the mix, we’re going to miss out. We’ll drop out of the play offs (like we do after Christmas every year) over the weekend and then have our usual run of poor form through to the end of the season when we finish in a comfortably league position of 10-12.
  14. In the summer you were expecting us to spend a decent amount and that never happened. I’m not sure what would make you think that they will spend now. Just don’t see it. We all know that we desperately need signings but they have made it clear that it’s bargain basement stuff. What was our last decent priced signing? I mean a player around the £3m mark. Would it have been Szmodics.
  15. I know you were happy to wait until the end of the window for signings Chaddy, something that most, including me, thought was the wrong call due to the number of key games in January (2 of which we’ve just lost). Has your view changed now due to the injuries? Also, I’m assuming that you are starting to share the concern of the group that we may not get the quality we need through the door. You mentioned BBD and Szmodics as examples of us bringing in championship players, I can’t see them splashing £7m or so on a striker. I wonder if they didn’t realise that players could leave for free at the end of the contract and that £7m would be lost. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit, especially if the rumours of them not knowing about relegation are true.
  16. Did you not see his volleyed shot go out for a throw in
  17. I hope they show Cantwell how many times he lost the ball and just stopped dead in his tracks tonight.
  18. He’s run about 40 yards through the middle of the pitch without a tackle going in.
  19. Shock. Loads of chances and can’t finish and then look shit at the back and concede. Keeper looks small
  20. Our home record against Coventry is shocking
  21. Surely if Sheffield United end up with BBD and Cannon then one of their forwards would become available. I’ve zero interest in Brewster but could we possibly look to bring in Tyreese Campbell or even better Kiefer Moore. Moore would definitely improve our starting line up. They can only register 25 players anyway can’t they Chadster 😄
  22. Thought Buckley grew into the game yesterday. Started taking people on rather than just passing sideways and backwards. However him alongside JRC in the middle of the park would be crazy. Based on that I reckon Forshaw starts on Tuesday. He didn’t look great on Saturday but let’s hope he surprises us on Tuesday. I don’t see us getting O’Brien, or even trying to get him.
  23. Why do we need decent cover for a player who you’ve spent half of the season slagging off as bang average?? Surely we just need a bang average player to replace the bang average Tronstad?
  24. Cantwell fucking about and losing the ball in a dangerous place.
  25. You really haven’t learnt anything have you!
